    Hey Guys,

Check this. Its EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard (usually 69.99) and they are giving it away for free to try and help improve the program.

I found out about it off another tech site I use, so go check the download. Its pretty nice... it can do a Complete Disc recovery, or seperate partition recovery or you can just do standard file recovery.

    Again... Check it out :)

Is there a TRUELY FREE Registry Cleaner?
Something that will get rid of Incomplete Un-installed program?

The few that I've found will test, then want money for the program to rectify the errors that were found.

    Thanks
    Rich

    First of all:

Be wary of completely automatic detection - read EVERY entry and decide for YOURSELF!

If you damage your system its YOUR fault.

    Suggestions:
    CCleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com/
Eusing Free Registry Cleaner - http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm

Is there a free software that can batch rename picture files to the date when they were taken?

And also a free software that password protects a folder in Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Thanks!

You might be able to set up a batch rename process in Adobe Bridge.

Check the Windows Live Gallery though.

The point I think that may be difficult is getting the data from the Exif data read in automatically.

You can possibly do just password protection via rights management in Windows - but look at things like "True Crypt" to encrypt the folder too - I'm sure post 1 lists some more alternatives - or use a Password protected zip archive - WinRAR can do that quite nicely :)

Didnt see this under Data Backup/Recovey. Think it relevant.

    COMODO Time Machine

Has both x86 and x64 versions for all OS.

Been using this ever since its late beta stages, and continue to do so after its final release. Has worked flawlessly. Saved me from quite a few jams.

    Cheers.

    Darth,

I use Digsby. It will not be 'light-weight', but it has a few functions that I love. You should at least try it out. My favorite feature is that when you receive a new message, a little box pops up in any corner you specify...you can actually respond w/in that pop-up box.

Pidgin is very lightweight, and has many features. I used to use Pidgin, but have stayed with Digsby the past several years.

Also - it would most likely be good at nothing...

Does anyone know of a good defragger for SSD's?

-I know, some folks say SSD's dont need defraggers, but SOMETHING has to speed them up! W7's TRIM? -Not!

My GSkill titan 256 SSD isn't TRIM compatible. I'm looking for a 64bit compatible Defragger for SSD's or a substitute for TRIM that I can use to keep this drive clean.

    Hi,

I am looking for a reliable free hard-drive backup/recovery utility that keeps my external HD in sync (real time) with my partitioned drive C/D. Which of the programs listed here under the "Data Backup/Recovery" list fits this category, or which other program you may have experienced that you can recommend? My ultimate objective is to be able to recover my complete HD (data, system and installed programs) from my external USB disk in the event of HD crash.

Will cloning my HD into the external HD accomplish the same, or cloning does not provide a real-time sync between the two HD's?
    Thanks, A.

I don't think your wish can be achieved as you like...

    You can clone the drive:
Then you have a backup copy to restore from.

Or you can continuously backup files, but those will be "loose files" that you can copy back but can't really "clone back".

A Windows Home Server would possibly be the easiest for you (ask Davepermen :D) - but else...
Do wait for other replies - but I think on a "free side" its either/or.
