I used Sharpkeys on my previous work laptop, since the Tab key on my external keyboard didn't work reliably. Mapped Caps Lock to Tab with SharpKeys, and it worked brilliantly. Would've been a good idea to add some media keys, too.

Here are 2 programs I want to tell about:
    1. PasswordFox - finally I found a simple solution to check all my paswords in old Firefox profiles! No more semi-working addons, programs etc. This program only shows a list of saved passwords in any profile's path you select but at least it works. I will enter Login/password manually but don't need to mess with non-working stuff.
    2. I guess I already wrote about it but will write again because this program is getting an update. Its SVP. You can watch promo video and other info also on Indiegogo where they are collecting $$ for SVP 4 which already got stage Developer Preview/Technical Preview.

A great program as i sometimes have to enter a password 2 to 3 times before i get it right as websites continue to require more an more complex passwords, with letters and numbers and symbols, and a lot of sites only give you 5 attempts before they email you and ask for you to create an new password.

I have been a member for over a year, they have some great software, and my virus killer has had no problems, though you have to unclick the bloatware while you install.

I will post no more link from Source Forge, but i will use the apps myself

    Thanks for the heads-up

GitHub seems to have superseded SourceForge since the incident. A lot of devs have moved their projects over to Git and stopped updating the ones on SourceForge.

Registry cleaners are snake oil. Run any of them, they will show you hundreds of errors, clean those errors and watch your Windows get broken so bad you'd have to format to repair it.

Leave the registry the heck alone.

    @Matrix Leader
While I agree on this, I must say that after extensive usage of CCleaner for like ten years, including the tasks of registry cleaning, I've never experienced any problem of that sort.

I cannot claim it made a significnatly helpful effect on any computer I've used it on whatsoever, but at least it makes a good psyhological effect.

I have been using ccleaner for years myself without a problem, but i have noticed it sometimes takes two and occasionally three times to remove all the registry errors.

Is the first post still maintained?

The two best torrent-clients are missing:

http://www.qbittorrent.org/ <--- extremely lightwight very awesome torrent client, is basically like if uTorrent 2.2.1. had been developed further and not taken wrong paths

http://www.tixati.com/ <--- needs a lot more RAM (though 400 MB with 2000 torrents is still not much imho) and has a long list of useful features, like auto-sorting torrents to self-made lists and much more

Well, at best the change is trivial or non-existent. Worse would be that it runs worse than before.

I remember in my early days fixing computers, I used to go to a company, find a computer with many problems, then me thinking I'm smart I would clean the registry and baam, the computer is gone, apps don't work or after the reboot the system is FUBAR

Eh, fixing computers for my family is similar. They both confuse CS as IT and don't listen when I tell them all that I do is Google their problems and look for help elsewhere :p.

    An old friend, http://www.itsamples.com/network-activity-indicator.html

Basically, am refusing my pc's to do anything on the net unless I instigated it, this little program restores the easy to see taskbar network icons from xp. Works in 7\8\10.

Any flashing > check out what's doing it and who or what is transfering what to who, if needed kill some stupid programs \ add some entries in firewall. No random flashing > no connections going on behind my back, peaceful pc :O)

No wonder why it's not been a feature of the latest windows, the big plan seems to be users should be kept in the dark and get no hints about what their 'personal' computer is doing.

bitRipper - FREE DVD to AVI software that allows you to back-up your DVD's as AVI files on the hard drive. It can be used for one-click ripping as good as for advanced modes. You are free to choose whether to use default configuration values or to set them manually. There are all necessary settings available:

    - Video and audio codecs configuration
    - Video resolution and aspect ratio
    - Sound track language and sound value normalization
    - Variety of actions to be performed after the copying process is completed
    - Includes 3rd party decryption module for CSS protected DVDs
** bitRipper does not require gigabytes of space to copy all DVD content to the hard drive before converting to AVI. It converts video on-the-fly, copying data and writing it to AVI file at the same time.

Using spacebar to preview documents, media, and such is one of my favorite features of Mac OS, and this program brings similar functionality to Windows. It's still beta, but has been working great for me.

Pretty cool ssd/hdd usage analyzer to graphically show you what is using up all your drive space. Similar to WinDirStat. Nothing to install, just run the exe as admin.
