Yes its rather sad to know my less-than-one-month-old NP8660's battery has 0.4% of wear... Well the truth is always cruel lol.

Still its my own usage problem though, I don't remove my battery as I'm a forgetful person, even when its on A/C, fully charged.

Yea, my notebook is 1.5 years old and it's almost always on A/C with the battery left in, so I guess it's not a huge surprise. Oh well, back on topic :p

    Thanks, nice little software :)

My notebook is 1.5 years old too and I always remove the battery when it's on A/C, but it says I have 13.8% percent battery wear

Notebook Battery Info I use it on my EEE (XP only), like it better than Battery Bar becase Battery Bar goes down by percentages like 99.9, 99.8, 99.7, 99.6, 99.5, and that annoys me.

This is the Vista-Version that is not out yet.

Comodo System Cleaner is a new cleaning program.

    Thanks for the adds!

I cannot add the first link since when I attempted to navigate to it I got a page that sprung up several pop-ups, which is an instant no-no. :(

The second link cannot be added either since it is not released yet.

Comodo has been added as well to the list. :)

I added a couple of new items to the guidelines on what will be allowed to the list:

    12. Only items that have actual releases (alpha or beta or official) will be posted. Please do not send a link that has "upcoming" software.

    13. If a posted link leads to a page that has pop-ups, it will be disallowed.

In Chrome the pop up is blocked, and you don't even see it. I think that is a bad reason not to add it, this program is really great, light weight, and does a great job.

I understand that you find it a great app and all, but I wanted to maintain that all links provided point to a safe website. There's no gaurantee that everyone's pop-up blocker will work everywhere. You never know when a pop-up contains malicious content on it.

Edit: Also I want to adhere to the rules I posted about providing a safe link to download these applications.

Just throwing this one out there. I've used Format Factory (it's free) for Video conversion (mostly AVI-MP4 for ipods) but it has many other possible outputs as well as audio conversion. I haven't used it with vista yet but did for a while with XP. It's great. http://www.formatoz.com/

I dont know what category it would be under, maybe music players...

    www.pandora.com

Its free, and you put in an artist/song and it will play music simmilar to it, like other music you may like. And usually its right.

I like Pandora very much as well! I'll add it to the list, under the Media section's music players sub-category. It's been a great resource for finding new artists for me as well.

Watch when you clean you use the privacy cleaner and make sure you don't just click the explorer and firefox buttons unless you want your bookmarks and passwords erased also. Expand them and choose which to erase. :p

Sorry if this question is actually very stupid, but I really am clueless... What is the meaning of SP and CR in Memtest86+? Thanks. :)

Btw I don't think Comodo Reg Cleaner should in included in this list, I've read a bit in their forum and its kind of has the impression of still unstable. Especially that reg cleaners are quite dangerous to use by the non tech-savvy. I believe it should only be included if it is really can be considered safe. Or maybe at least give a warning? Just my two cents. :)

I guess a warning would be warranted on the dangers of using registry cleaners. But, I've used other registry cleaners before and didn't have any problem (SysTweak's ASO for example, wish it was free). What I'll do is put a warning for that entire section.

    I marked Recuva as [TESTED].

Recuva is a very cool tool, in which it locates all the so-called "deleted" files on your machine. What I like about it is it's speed in finding all the files and providing previews of the files so you can see whether they need to be permenantly deleted or recovered.

BTW, I recommend OrbitDownloader as a good free download manager. I can vouch for Orbit and FreeDownloadManager as well, as I am a frequent user.

And sorry to reask (it got to the bottom of the page, so people might not notice it):

You are referring to the bottom part of the screen, right?

CR = carriage return / enter key

Winrar is different from most trialware in that it still allows you to use the bulk of the features without a registration key, and only a nag screen at launch. Although, one can ignore this completely by sticking to using the context-menu Winrar commands. Keep it on the list, it's a great tool that is almost essential.

Didnt see it on here, but I just installed and used a program called CrossLoop to remotely access my father-in-laws machine. I'm in Virginia, and he's in Florida, but the connection was pretty good and stable. Had to remotely access his machine because he got hit with the AntiVirus 2010 spyware/malware and didnt know how to get rid of it. I'll test it out a bit more on some of my boxes here, but my first impressions of it are pretty good

Anyone know a good AIM program for file transfers? It can be an IM or any file transfer software thats easy to use and gets you good download/upload speeds.

AOL AIM and Pidgin are both slow.

How can I transfer files quickly and easily from one user to another?

Good find! Added to the list.

I actually moved the system cleaner applications to their own sub-category in the System Tools section, as there are quite a few now in the list.
