a cool add-on: Fission, gives FF a Safari like status bar. it's just aesthetics, but its cool.![]()
-
-
interclue - just added this today and i might say its pretty cool
...tell you all about your link before you click it.
-
Need something like that but for status bar! Like when you hover over a link, it should say the link url.
-
It seems to have disappeared from the Mozilla Add-Ons site. Strange. So, I installed FEBE on Firefox and grabbed it that way and uploaded it here. Enjoy.
-
i will keep a look out for you ill drop you a pm if i do find one. =D
-
web mail notifier is the good for knowing the status of the mails.
-
i use:
- forecastfox - highly customizable add-on that displays weather forecasts.
- foxytunes - highly customizable add-on that lets u control just about any music player from yur browser. also shows song info. -
I remember FoxyTunes; it's probably better now, and I like listening to music while on the internet, but a quick Alt+Tab to Winamp works for me. I don't know, maybe FoxyTunes has keyboard shortcuts. Anyway, to each their own.
-
davepermen Notebook Nobel Laureate
so has winamp. so if you want fast access, you can use winamp shortcuts
i only use addons for a program that actually fit the program. for me, the browser is just that: a program to browse the web. anything else is done with the target program. so yeah, foxytunes was installed for about what? 10minutes?
-
i actually don't use the buttons on my browser when i'm using foxytunes. i have my winamp programed to my touch buttons on my laptop. i just like that i can open up yur default media program just by pressin the play button. the song's info ticker is real nice. it's also pretty customizable, so it's easy to match my themes. those are the 3 main features that i like about foxytunes.
-
My current add-ons:
AD-Block Plus - Need I say more?
Fission - Displays the progress bar in the address bar
IE Tab - I use this add-on less and less no a days
iMacros - Automates repetitive tasks
Snap Links Plus - Select multiple links at once in tabs
Tab Clicking Options - Select actions for various clicking events on a tab -

I've dropped a few add-on extensions from those I have installed, and added some others, but still have 17 installed

I highly recommend No Squint!
NoSquint allows you to adjust the default text zoom level, which is useful if you have a small display or run at a very high resolution. NoSquint also optionally remembers the zoom level per site. -
davepermen Notebook Nobel Laureate
uhm, firefox 3 does that by default? at least here, it does. except for the default zoom level maybe, but a single ctrl-scrollwheel solves that, then it remembers it per page
-
Cheers. Awesome add-on, exactly what i wanted.
-
Addons that I use:
Informenter: For work
Reloadevery: For work
Split browser: Again, for work
FireFTP: I like using this rather than Filezilla
IETab: For work
I use most of these for work, but I figure'd I share anyways
-
im liking that splitbrowser add on
-
How do I get rid of Foxfilter? I see the uninstall option but it's unclickable.
-
davepermen Notebook Nobel Laureate
run as admin
-
Thanks. I uninstalled it in safe mode.
-
It's been said before, but whether using mouse or touchpad, FireGestures. I can live without AdBlock or NoScript, but barely without that. The default settings already are so intuitive, and so amazingly useful... it really is great and really saves time and mouse movements.
-
Too bad its not free anymore.
-
GMail Notifier really messes with my cookies ... It signs me out of Google Accounts 1/2 the time.
-
check the updated section in the first page added a new add on
-
might i suggest the torrent finder toolbar. i use it all the time for torrent searches. loads of sites to choose from. available on the mozilla add on site.
-
anyone seen any good add-on's lately?
-
I currently have:
-Adblock Plus
-Forecastbar Enhanced
-Flagfox
-Flash Video Downloader (very good for download Youtube vids, among others)
-RedShift V3 theme (excellent if you like black and red)
I used to have a pretty neat one called MeasureIt, which allowed you to create and adjust a box around anything you want in the browser, and it would tell you the height and width in pixels. It was very useful in my job as a forum moderator, because we have signature image size restrictions. A simple click+drag told us if someone was going over the limit. Unfortunately, it's not compatible with 3.x -
ill give it a shot =)

I have dropped a few more. Down to 11 now. 12 if you consider a theme an add-on. -
Maybe you could get it to work with the Nightly Tester Tools extension?
-
. Try the Nightly Tester Tool as mentioned in above post.
. You can try also to go direct to the extension home page, and force the installation from the installer from there (not via mozilla)
cheers ... -

There should be an "official" list of the best/most useful firefox addons.
-
What is "best" and "most useful" varies from user to user.
-
Adblock plus
All in one sidebar
Drag & Dropzones (amazing way to search)
Hide Menubar (reclaim more space for webpages)
NoScript (also supports anti-clickjacking now)
PDF Download (awesome way to handle PDF documents)
session manager (crash recovery manager for your firefox..and save sessions)
speed dial (opera's best feature on firefox)
so many more. -
what exactly does speed dial do?
-
Gives you a home page with many page thumbnails for quick navigation to your most-used pages. Highly customizable.
-
Can people add a short blurb about what their extensions do or how they find them useful? Thanks
-
You kidding me? Too much work and too much text to read.
-
For me the useful ones i have are
Colorzilla
MeasureIt
Web Developer Toolbar
Greasemonkey
Forecastfox
StumbleUpon (fun when ur bored)
Adblock plus
Cooliris (not a big necessity, but it does look pretty sweet) -
Agreed. FYI, Mozilla has a "recommended" list of add-ons: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/recommended
-
AKAJohnDoe Mime with Tourette's
Actually, if you back up a level to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox, you can get the Recommended, Most Popular, and Newest lists. Also, if you drop down the Advanced tab under search on that page, you can select and sort in a number of different ways.
-
just found this its great smarterfox.if its been mention before sorry
-
Smartfox is good. But I want, when highlight text, have a bubble: search it on google, not wiki. Any addons, that can do that?
-
davepermen Notebook Nobel Laureate
rightclick the text and search on google? that is a default feature. it just doesn't have a bubble.
-
Ya, but I really like bubbles.
Added
Wow. Just type Accelerator in addon search. Looks like the same as in IE8. Thats what I need. -
is personas for firefox taking from my bandwidth to make theme appears?
-
:O what is personas?
-
I apologize if this has already been posted..but I find this very, very useful.
Facebook Purity app. Remove/block all those annoying Facebook quizzes and app requests.
http://bloggy.kuneri.net/2009/03/19...oying-facebook-quiz-notifications-and-others/
After installing Greasemonkey, I had to right click and open the script in a new tab to get Greasemonkey to install it. It works great, no more app and quiz requests when I visit Facebook. It does give you an option to view any that are blocked as well. -
this nice appearance addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10900
