What Virus software do you use with Windows 7?

I used to use McaFee because I got it free through work, but now it won't work...any suggestions?

 

I am using Avira 9 free edition and it works fine.

 

Anything but that. McAffe and Norton are virus makers. Its keeps them in business.

Avast and AVG are good recommendations that work.

 

That's ridiculous. Norton for Windows 7 is an amazing piece of software. AVG needs a LOT of work to become halfway decent.

 

While it's not officially supported, Avira 9 works perfectly in 7 RC.

You obviously haven't tried Norton 2009. But in any case, McAfee is rather weak. I'd suggest trying Norton Antivirus 2009.

 

none since after xp.. uac and not-clicking-that-blinking-links works well so far

but i wouldn't suggest that anyone. i normally suggest avast antivir, and afaik, it works in win7 without bigger problems.

Ditto! McAfee / Norton are the WORST ever packages that slow down your system to a crawl and are uselss.

I use NOD32 64 bit

 

How can you say so much about these products without even using their latest versions?
I am using Norton AV 2009 and it's one of the best AV's out there.

While I'm using ESET too, I must Norton Internet Security 2009 is a decent anti-virus software which can rival ESET and kaspersky.

Avast works fine on 64 bit W7.

I am running NAV 2009 on my XP installation on laptop and desktop and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised how much better it works than previous versions of Norton.

I don't use virus software, but for anti virus I use AVG Free.

 

NAV 2009 is really light on resources (~6MB), but Avira is pretty good for freeware.

 

Norton gaming Edition, is by far the best Anti Virus Software on the market today. Lowest resource usage ever. Besides, it hunts and tracks down most threats. Try it and you will never be disappointed

 

I use the same antivirus on W7 as I use on Vista and XP. Avast.

Erm, writing in kindergarten style is one thing, behaving like an utter troll is another.
Being an ESET fanboy is OK with me although it does get irritating from time to time.

I use nod32. I used to use Norton, and compared to that nod32 is much lighter on the system resources.

 

I'm a fan of Kaspersky... Wondering if it works on Win7 (I'm a big fan of it on XP)

 

Kaspersky beta works fine on my system. Not tried the full version as I have McAfee available to me for free and that works fine too.

Lightest system resources + utmost security

 

I don't use an anti-virus program. The best "Anti-Virus" is smart surfing.

 

Norton is a good product these days and works extremely well w/ Win 7, x86 and x64.

 

I'm currently using kaspersky 7 beta, and it has worked very well. I used avast pro when I had vista, but was told it wasn't completely compatible with windows 7.

Most companies hold off officially supporting a new OS until out of beta. For example, Avira's official stance is that 7 is not supported right now even though AntiVir is working great, absolutely flawless on a 7 RC install. It's just that they cannot guarantee a problem-free experience especially since the final 7 code hasn't been finalised and is still changing. But you should try Avast as it might work just fine.

 

None. 'dont use one for my non-work W7 rig. I have cloned backup for emergencies.

 

Norton Internet Security 2009 on Vista x(64) and Norton 360 pre-release on Windows 7. Good products.

I've tried both Avast and AVG Free on Windows 7 and both worked nicely. I also have tried Norton Internet Security 2009 and it worked good also.

i use comodo internet security, its annoying as hell but its caught a couple viruses already

 

I personally feel that Comodo tried too hard to go outside what it does best - being a firewall.

^^^ Even that; at being a firewall it tries too hard as well. I think a firewall software should be much easier to use like turning a light switch on/off. Instead it's more like flipping breaker switches; like using a combo key or something....pushing buttons here and there to try and get it to work as it should.

I never used the Internet Security though, only the Personal Firewall.

 

its basically just a combo of the firewall and their antivirus. not too impressive.
