AVG 8.5 is the one i like the most, it never bothers me, its light on my hardware, and its there when i need it, but most importantly; it works![]()
cheers!

McAfee (free) and NIS 2009
-
McAfee Enterprise. Works fine.
-
Jst upgraded to Win 7 Ult from vista HP.
Norton anti virus 2009 Gaming edition has minor issues with Win7 so i removed it.
switched to Avira Free Ed. Avira works fine with Win7. -
For anyone feeling courageous, MSFT Security Essentials beta is very stable on my 7 RC and works well. Don't ask me how effective it is though.
-
Avira works really good with Win7
-
Been using microsoft security essentials since the beta came out and I'm liking it so far. It is not intrusive and runs on a very small footprint. Haven't had any warnings so far but I guess that's a good thing?
-
Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. Fast and Effective for me.
-
When using beta anti-virus software, it's always good to have a back-up program, lol. Avira indeed runs well. I'm sure most would, unless the program inherently has problems with 64-bit systems.
-
Microsoft Security Essentials Beta
or nothing.
I love Microsoft Security Essentials, as it's really fast, gets the job done, very light on your system you don't even feel it running. Plus, it is not annoying, user friendly interface, doesn't bug you, and you have all the features you may need for a home PC.
The best part is that it's based on the OneCare which is a pretty dam good A/V, contrary to popular believes (check our reviews... it's downside was that it was not worth the value Microsoft was selling it at). AND it's FREE (even the official version)
Oh and it's available in 64-bit just to make things smoother and faster on your system. -
-
I personally use Nod32 - smart security edition and had 0 issues.
I also have Spybot installed (although I use it quite rare due to the fact that I only scan once per month or once in 2 months time). -
-
My guess is because it's in beta still so hopefully the released version will have them classified as important. That's my only complaint about MSE.
-
can i use nod32 3.0.669 with x64? or do i need v4?
-
im using kaperski (spelling?) on win 7 x64. seems to run and scan alright. havent had it that long though.
-
Through an update it started recognizing it as a threat and it put it in quarantine.
Little did I know that the next day after booting up my system windows wasnt able to start due to that missing file.. I nearly lost my desktop back then.
Since that day i cursed AVG and it entire family tree.
ot: i, currently looking into a good AV, thats why im here.
Demands are that it must be user friendly, non-corrupted amateuristicely like AVG, and musnt slow down my system. I used to use SOPHOS. Liked it untill they took my 'borrowed' license away.. lol -
If you don't want to pay, Microsoft Security Essentials is your winner IMO, but if you don't mind shelling out the green, then definitely go for Norton Internet Security 2010 (I'm using it now).
-
Been using Kaspersky IS 2010. Works great and the memory usage is normally between 5Mb and 15Mb.

Nod32 plays doctor on my machine.
-
M$ se .. they got the resource to beat every other av program/company out of business.
-
someone with the knowledge to dissect outgoing traffic? -
That would be a huge violation of privacy if they were sending back that type of information...
But don't think that means they wouldn't do it. Maybe when you accept the Terms for the installation or something you are agreeing to letting them send back information.
If you are using MSE, just use a packet sniffer to see whats being communicated. -
Kasper IS 2010.
-
It could be coded in to system files.
So it's a fake info.
And max they could know is ip address .. not like paying for os with cc or with anything anywayssince like .. dos
-
I use Symantec Endpoint Protection 10.5 here, which is compatible with 7. Haven't had any problems with it and it's not a resource hog. Can't complain.
-
-
So do you think you can be more specific as to why it is "crap"? -
I've being using MSFT Security essentials. and it had detected a trojan downloader in a web site but not my Desktop with Mcafee with same web site loaded..
-
Sym.endpoint:
Don't need all in one .. just like nero and many other went that way .. now they are crapware and most ppl replacing them.
We are talking about home usenot like paying for any software ever.

I am currently using Kaspersky Internet Security 9
Fairly decent results on av-comparatives, doesnt use that much resources and...
I got it for free from my bank
free license every year for upto 3 pcs -
Norton Internet Security 2010.
-
I'm using Avast. It does pretty well up against other AV's in the av-comparatives.org tests.
I also like how there's different scanners for the different type of scanning, for the web, instant messaging, network, etc. Each that can be disabled/enabled depending on what you're doing. -
been a nod32 user for the last 3 years..
-
Go read Av-Comparatives.org please people and stop recommending Norton, McAfee, and any other crappy programs.
People that are liking Norton 2009, you have no idea how many computers at work I get with Norton 2009. It is horrible. I have to say lately all the virus infected machines I've been fixing have some version of Norton... inlcuding the acer I had yesterday with 2009 on it.
So Norton fails. Oh and it just so happens when I uninstall it and put something better on... it just happens to run faster
So Norton FTL, personally Avira always gets top results on Av-Comparatives, and though I don't like Microsoft Essentials... its not too bad. -
Aviiraaa <3333
-
Nod 32 ver. 4.0.468 - 64 bit
The best -
I just downloaded the Microsoft Security Essentials. I will give that a go. Cant be bad the avcomp.org site didnt rate it too bad.
-
nis2010 and also beta testing dr web security space 5.0
-
MSE on my new laptop.
I have McAfee on my old laptop and it hogs resource like crazy when updating/scanning. -
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Avira. I'll try to swipe NIS10 if it goes on sale again. I'm pretty safe with my intrawebs practices so I don't need anything too beefy.
-
KIS 2010 definitley uses more resources than NIS 2010 from my personal experience. Switching to Norton now...
-
MSE here - integrates nicely, runs and updates quietly, very low resources
-
Ditto on the MSE - tried it a while back (had been using Avira). Plugged in my USB stick shortly after changing over and MSE found a nasty on there Avira had missed. Sold me, switched all my machines over to it.
-

-
Avira....has always worked well for me.
Cin... -
I use Norton it's rated either 1st or 2nd consistently in every publication I've checked for the past three years. And it's got a snazzy new interface that simple and easy to navigate. It ain't cheap, but it's non-intrusive and offers great overall protection. -
