Hey guys, is there any way to detach quicklaunch from your taskbar?

I know in XP all you had to do was click and drag it but I can't seem to be able to do that in Vista; I used to have my taskbar on top and my quicklaunch on the bottom (as a 'dock') in XP and would love to have the same effect in Vista if at all possible.

You kind of missed my point, I don't want to -disable- my quicklaunch, I wanted to -detach- it and use it as a stand alone taskbar.

Anyway, no worries, I'm actually using objectdock now and after some tweaking I find it awesome.

I have to say RocketDock just because I've had ObjectDock disappear for no apparent reason on two different computers. I'm a big Stardock gaming fan, just downloaded Twilight of the Arnor, but don't care for their dock.

EDIT: This thread got me to try out RK Launcher....pretty good, similar to RocketDock, this version of RKLauncher http://windowsedge.com/iVista Project/RKLauncher.html

EDIT2: I switched out RocketDock for the RK Launcher in the above link....just plain looks too good to give up ;)

I'm using Objectdock, which is the business except that I had my taskbar hidden for a while and now when I want to get it back it only appears when I run the mouse over it, which is kinda bugging the crap outta me. Anyone else have this problem?

Edit it and at the bottom right should be a button named "Delete". Use that to delete your double post.

Thanks Man, good to know for future mishaps. Any advice on my taskbar conundrum, I usually have it hidden but now it just keeps popping up and down after I uncheck the 'hide windows taskbar' box in Objectdock

Right click on the task bar and make sure "Lock the taskbar" is checked.

Sorry for bothering u again. I did check the lock taskbar box but it keeps popping off screen whenever I don't have the mouse on it, I'm thinking it might be something to do with Objectdock, never happened before though.

That's never happened to me in OD so I'm having a hard time figuring out the problem. Maybe you should try playing with the settings in OD to see if it's something you did but don't remember about.

It may not be related to ObjectDock.
Right-click the taskbar, select "Properties". In the Taskbar tab, see if "Auto-hide the taskbar" is checked. If so, uncheck it.

I prefer RocketDock because it is compatible with MobyDock, ObjectDock, RK Launcher, and Y'z Dock skins and you can use ObjectDock's docklets in it.

OK I've installed object dock now... looks nice.

Is there a way I can keep the systemtray visible? I would like to see my network connections.

If you are referring to Object Dock and not the Plus version, can you please share how you got the System Tray on?

    Thanks

Edit: Oops...I guess I should have read on! One of the posts says you gotta have the PLUS version! Sorry!

i use something called the "startmenu" and something called "taskbar"...

:) pinning things to the startmenü, having the search there for the casual things, and the taskbar for the open windows is all i ever need. all the rest is needless clutter (quickstart, tray icons, i try to get rid of them as good as possible..).

I know rdluncher can work in vista, but can it run in vista 64bit? Also I was more interested in objectdock, except if you telle me kkmenu works well with rdlauncher un 64bit.

Found out an option in rkluncher that works for tray icon. I just had to click on option "show new appliccation". Name was a bit confusing. It works well now! Going on next customization step ^^

Was curious about the alternatives to the dock that I use and came across this thread. Surprised the one I use isn't mentioned - its obviously the best! ;)

Nexus Dock - looks awesome, has plenty of configuration options, includes few nice tools such as weather, ram/cpu meters, and of course it is FREE!

P.S. Dont get confused with windows/menu bar style - its a mac theme applied to winxp.

ROCKETDOCK is the BEST for me.
It can be use on both 32bit and 64bit OS included Windows 7!
ROCKETDOCK used reasonable resources with standard amount of styling features. While the ObjectDock(free version) used high resources with standard amount of styling features(not worth).
RKLauncher used the least resources but in exchange, it doesn't have good styling features.
