Now I have installed Win 7 x64 RTM, next to my XP partition.
Most of the hardware works, here and there are still a few smaller issues, but nothing major.
Not every software runs immediately on it, so it's still some tweaking necessary.
Maybe it will become my primary OS now?
Compared to the RC the RTM seems to have improved the power issues, at least now I'm able, maybe because of better drivers, to bring the power consumption down to almost the same level my XP installation needed.
Sadly the PDF software in combination with the pen still has a few minor issues, but I hope Bluebeam finds a solution for this soon.
But I think it will become my primary OS now.
And according to the poll results a lot of people use Win 7 already.
MS did a great job on marketing this time with Win 7. -

jep, marketing worked well enough to get maximus to be a win7 lover
btw, can you report about tablet changes for win7? i've tried win7 on my hp 2730p, but due to some dj-issues i had to revert back to vista before even thinking about testing it's changes (from vista). it should be much improved, like most stuff..
sadly i was, again, so pissed off about the bad usability of the new ui, that i couldn't even think about testing it in the short time of the last testings.. i'd really love to fully support and promote win7 (even while knowing in my heart, that it will hurt everytime someone sais "yeah, this time they got it right after crap-vista"..).
but i like the media center, and i like the tablet enhancements (while i haven't tested them yet)..
we'll see.. if i get a good price for it maybe.. -
Have anyone here tried Windows 7 with Adobe Photoshop CS3/CS4? I forgot to these this while I install Windows 7 Ultimate RC last time.
I'm afraid Windows 7 can't install this software. -

MaXimus, trying to offend or standing firm on opinions will not get you far in the long run.
I know it can be hard to accept others are right - but it does happen you know.
Try to be a bit more diplomatic. -
@MaXimus,
When did I say I do not know how to install software/programs?
I am asking WILL PHOTOSHOP CS3/CS4 WORK ON Windows 7.
NOT I CAN'T INSTALL PHOTOSHOP. -

Dual boot XP pro / Win7 on desktop and Vista / Win7 on laptop. On both I use Win7 95% of the time.
I will be purchasing Win7 when this evaluation copy runs out next year and then a clean install and a Win7 / Linux dual boot. -
Anyway, it is OK already.
I am glad it can be install. LOL. -
I use Windows Vista. I have had a lot of problems with it and I'm not satisfied with it. Sure it looks elegant and all but it's such a mess. I'm upgrading to Windows 7 upon it's release and I pray to God it wont have a lot problems.

Windows 7 on my desktop, XP on my laptop currently, as I run some software which fails to run on Windows 7 and I prefer not to run a virtual machine when I don't have to.
-
I'm back on the original XP the netbook came with, cause my leaked build 7201 of Windows 7 crashes like crazy on my netbook.
I'm not gonna pirate Windows 7 and use it. I'll buy it when I need it. I lost my interest on launch day due to the amount of schoolwork :| -

Ahbeyvuhgehduh Lost in contemplation....
XP Pro at work.
Am giving Windows 7 Pro a whirl and am liking what I see thus far. -
Did a clean install of Windows 7 Professional 32-bit on my laptop and out the door goes Vista! For some reason, 7 sure doesn't feel faster than Vista (except in terms of file transfers) but I do like 7's new features and it's a keeper for sure.
-
I have Windows 7 installed on both my desktop and laptop now. I'm liking it over Vista, although Vista never gave me much trouble.

sad that one can't revote..
by now, i'm on win7 completely. after knowing it for nearly a year, i now start to get used to it -
Amazing that already 50 % of users here use W7..

Windows 95 of course.
But its not on the poll so I had to vote Win 7 -

Interestingly, after all that criticism of Vista, there seem to be more XP users than Vista users who have upgraded to Windows 7.
"For each copy of Vista replaced by Windows 7 during November, more than six copies of XP were swapped for the new OS."
Well, I guess this could be so because those who hated Vista have already downgraded to XP. -
Just converted the last two PCs in the house that were under XP and Vista. I do not have a PC left that has anything below on it. Amazing OS compared to XP and Vista in my book.
-
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
I voted for XP. Still sticking with tried and true on my laptops... but I've got 7 on my desktop and it's great.
-
The ones who came from XP finally arrived in the present -
Windows 7 is awesome.

Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate on both laptop and desktop.

I view Vista (with SP2) as a good OS. Runs pretty good, as long as your sporting a dual-core with at least 2 GB memory on board. Windows 7 definitely does improve drastically on it, since it can be run on more older computers at a reasonable performance rating.
My pathway: XP --> Vista --> XP --> Vista (SP1) --> Vista (SP2) --> Windows 7 -
Vista.
Wish I had the money to upgrade to Win7. -
- once you have it set up, especially with SP2 there isn't a lot you gain from Win7
- be happy with it.

If you are in school, you can get free dreamspark account and get Windows server 2008 R2. Pretty much Win 7 with less bloat. Go to winserver2008workstation.com for some guidance.

hi guys, would like to know if win xp is still safe to use? bcoz i know that microsoft has stopped supporting it.
im contemplating whether to upgrade my dekstop to win 7 coz currently im on xp bcoz of the gaming. -
davepermen Notebook Nobel Laureate
just get win7, that fit's it's needs much better. and i know, on winserver2008workstation.com, they think otherwise. else, that page wouldn't exist. i've seen this crap with 2000, xp/2003, vista/2008, and now win7/2008r2.
it's just complicating things for no gain except huge placebos. -
E.g. free TeamViewer for home use, won't run.
Free Antivirus like Avira won't run either...
(Tested on the 2008 Webserver) -
davepermen Notebook Nobel Laureate
normally, not even wlm runs on it
-
On the other hand, there's no speed up claimed by me. So I don't know what you're talking about i.e. placebo and such. You started it, you show the proof. Not that I care. -
davepermen Notebook Nobel Laureate
well, i heard that placebo tons of times. but your link doesn't work. unsure, but i bet it would be stated on there as well.
oh, and, 20gb minimum with win7? ? not even close. win7 can be easily installed on 7gb, if you disable hibernation and system restore. which are disabled on the serverversion by default, i'd guess. -
I just dumped Vista for 7 a couple weeks ago.
What is your primary Windows OS?
