Not sure if you use this as well, but this is good. There are a lot of blocking type of apps out there, but a lot of them install junk onto your system for their own advertising agenda.

These two I've found to be pretty solid and are portable installations so it won't invade your registry and get intermingled in with it.

Download the latest one and immunize. There are more features in the options tab as well.

And of course O&O, which you may already be using...

The problem with W10 (well, one of them) is that you can't simply add dummy entries for those URLs in the hosts file, or any of the "classic" techniques to block an IP locally. It has to be outside of the W10 machine in question (router, home server, etc.), which also has some extra benefits too (blocking things on consoles, etc.).

Can't say I'm using O&O, or even know what it is to be honest.

Windows 10 started installing apps (games like Candy Crush) from the Store automatically for me..

The only thing I like for Windows 10 is the new Flat UI theme, but nothing else.

This OS is really worst product that I've ever come across since 10 years. They took the best and made it into the Worst thing ever possible that the world has witnessed in Computer Innovation and Evolution, No value at all to whom ? The damn userbase who uses their products. Hypocrisy at it's finest..

They skimped on the UI, I mean the Aero was gone my 8.1 setup which is flat looks superb with Aero glass and the Taskbar glow which changes on the mouse co-ordinates location is just sex, Okay this might be more cosmetic but a significant point (Those glowsticks are worst, Glad I have found a fix for that too, But I guess I will never use Win10), They ruined the CP and added that jacka$$ personalization panel which is a huge wall of text and no information again we need a fix. This catastrophic obsession with the MetroUI is ruining both MetroUI and UX, They could have evolved the old Aero UI with proper coherence alongside the Metro but they completely destroyed it, TouchUI and that Whitewashed UI for a DT OS ??

The continuous update feature is an abomination and cancerous treachery, Even with yearly Enterprise/LTSB (If you want Win10 use these only) releases it is super painful to setup everything again, the Telemetry crap is another quagmire which doesn't stop at all unless your cut off the Internet, don't forget those Reg hacks to make it work properly, Also that worst DPI scaling which needs a fix. Even with DISM tools they manage to hack us back by forcing the feature sets like the Xbox app which could be removed in TH1 but not with TH2 which causes Blackscreen desktop, With Redstone they made that Cortana mandatory if you remove it the search2 will get broken a.k.a search on that Start which is a sh!tshow anyways, Most of the users with minimum commonsense use ClassicShell/Startisback or such alternatives.

Plus the forced feature set, DX12 which is really worthless cheap crap, Cumulative update scene which even ruined the Win7/8.1 too allowing the telemetry packages infection...Splash screen cancer apps abomination, WDDM2.0 new Explorer cancer from 8.x (thank goodness we have the OldNewExplorer hack) UWP Sandboxing and Bloatware on the Home/Pro editions. Really I'm waiting for 2020 to come fast, Hoping to see this OS dead once and for all, If the rolling update feature is their motto. Then be it, I will use the Windows just as a Gaming OS that too unless that stupid DX12 beats DX11 else I'm with 8.1 only (Really sad to see no Drivers from Intel for Kabylake and up for the proper chipset integration, AMD Ryzen supports but with minimal feature set essentially a gimmick but better than worse from Intel), For the rest I'll just migrate to Linux, Fck them Honestly, Really annoying & the most astonishing part is the people who are on the Fast Ring they are like "Gimme more Kool-Aid" & love to be the sheep for their dirty shameless experiments *cough* gamemode *cough*!!!

Look at the tweaks that we have to make to run it as a proper desktop power user or gamer or productive OS..It's really a Digital Genocide, M$ is run by corporate extortionists with selfless agenda, Gates must really some and spank these fools back.

P.S - Win8.1 works flawlessly. It's the best that 7 can be with UEFI boot, works with new machines and Kabylake INF drivers support, specific OEMs, And has the same fast UI the last OS from M$ featuring, "Full User Controllable" Environment just some basic fixes It's good to go, has extended support until 2023, whilst the mainstream being only until 2018 which M$ must be eagerly waiting for.

Even if you block "everything" with a 3rd party shutup tool, you are not (although it may cut off a major part). The most important URLs are hardcoded in dnsapi.dll. If Windows fails to connect, it just circumvents the hosts file (and all other installed software firewalls) and uses the URLs in dnsapi.dll. That is why these 3rd party tools give a false impression of safety. Only solution is to block it from an outside router or use a hacked version of dnsapi.dll.

I dont really understand how people actually think that a flat, pastel, bland OS Gui is appealing? It took many years for MS to listen to its customer base about their non-aesthetic, ugly and boring OS, and release Vista with Aero. We were amazed at how the transparencies transformed our fisher price looking desktops into something that was a pleasure to work, and game on. Some of the new users of PC's claim Windows 7 has a dated look with the said transparencies, but that is only because MS has not used it since windows 7. The same users would claim it to be beautiful if it was included in Windows 10, because it would be shiny and new to them. As with MS these days, they take a great product, and destroy it with typical MS flair. Back to MS knowing what the users want, without actually listening to the users. Shoving a product down our throats claiming it to be the most secure windows to date, yet being the most insecure, and unstable version to date. I would almost rather use Windows Millennium (Me), than having MS RAPE what is left of my privacy by using Windows 10. I know for a fact that I would use Windows XP before installing Windows 10.

I changed my family's all-in-one desktop's OS back to Windows 7. The final point was when someone decided to put a random password on my mom's account on Windows 10, but I couldn't find a way to remove it. Simple stuff just gets thrown out of the Window with this OS, even Windows 7 lets you easily remove account passwords as an administrator but 10 doesn't. Even I like Windows 8.1 much better than 10. I'll never touch such a garbage system that makes the most simple tasks so rage-inducing and pet-peeving.

You might try "control userpasswords2" from a command line. Previous versions of windows had that.

While this is a solution for some people, I'm not sure how it will help laptop users that actually move their computers and use different networks. Or do you mean using a VPN to your router when not at home?
