Yesterday I was at a BMW Garage that I visit to repair/service my BMW and I was telling that owner that I am a tuner/tweaker bla bla bla. So he's like can you tune my computers? The first thing I checked was the Windows version and all the computers were running on Build 1709 so I check Windows update, it's disabled completely. I ask him why? He's like we disabled Windows update on all computers because once Windows updates it messes up our programs that we use. so this is what IT Administrators are doing now, to heck with Windows security patches, they just use an Antivirus and disable Windows updates on all machines.Last edited: Dec 19, 2020 -

Thanks for the compliment. I know I'm insane because it happened to me and others. You will understand it once you come across similar circumstance or situations wherein you'll feel the same emotions.

In the meantime, the simplest solution is to avoid unnecessary running the chkdsk command. In any case, you can always reboot the system to return to normal functioning if a Blue Screen is encountered.

From one of the posted links...
A new critical flaw in Windows 10 version 2004 and version 20H2 is crashing some computers when users run chkdsk command. For that unaware, chkdsk, also known as Check Disk utility, allows you to scan through your entire hard drive to find and fix problems.
Windows 10’s latest update, which was supposed to fix some big issues, seems to be causing some serious problems. According to user reports, Chkdsk c: /f command is broken after the December 2020 update and it could crash your device with Blue Screen of Death error.
The spike in CPU usage has been reported by users after two updates were shipped this month – Windows 10 December update and Intel Driver & Software Assistant Tool update.

Microsoft confirms Windows 10 update bug causes boot issues windowslates.com - December 21, 2020
If your Windows 10 computer started rendering Blue Screen of Death when you run Check Disk command, don't worry - you'll be able to use your device properly again in the next 24 hours,..
For managed devices in enterprise environments, that have this update installed and are experiencing this issue, it can be fixed by installing and configuring a special Group Policy. For more information on the use of Group Policy, Microsoft refers to the Group Policy Overview.
Microsoft has acknowledged a new issue impacting Windows 10 customers that might cause booting to fail on devices where the chkdsk tool has been used to repair logical file system errors.
Btw. Look at this beauty 17 R4, BSOD after windows 20H2 upgrade
Edit.
Windows 10’s new Corsair driver update is causing boot failures windowslates.com - December 22, 2020
A new driver update “CorsairVBusDriver” is currently rolling out to some users via Windows Update and it’s reportedly breaking down PCs. The latest driver is incompatible with the old CorsairVBusDriver (driver version is 2.x or older) and BSOD is triggered when the older driver is detected.
“This is caused by a very old CorsairVBusDriver (driver version is 2.x or older) installed with old CUE SW (CUE 2.x or older) conflicting with the new driver (driver version is 3.x) released with the recent Windows update,” wrote James, ICUE product manager at Corsair.
If you have a Corsair update pending in the Windows Update page, you need to uninstall the old Corsair’s CUE software and download the iCUE software, and then apply the Windows Updates.
This incident is another reminder for users to avoid the necessary driver updates offered via Windows Update.
Not so sure that your old aunt or uncle is able to understand all this mess. Windows as Services is a huge Joke. Of course it will screw up people systems. Doomed to happen as long they continue as this.Last edited: Dec 21, 2020 -

When I look in storage it says my temporary files are using 4.63GB but I can't find out what is using that space when I click on temporary files.
I have used disk Cleanup running as Admin and also just tried using the remove files option in storage and the size still stays the same.
Even using wise disk cleaner doesn't help. -

Set your choice of filemanager to show hidden + system files.
If those GB's are in there, delete everything (files in use \ needed wil not be deleteable).
In any case make a disk image backup before doing anything (f.ex. Macrium Reflect)Attached Files:

Alright, 20H2 hit its last straw with me. It might interest some of you to know that I have ruled out undervolting as the cause of the crashes, so I dont know why it it doing what it is doing, but this is what happens each time it crashes, not even a bsod to say goodbye.
Ok, which of these do I need to remove to go back to 2004? Or how do I do that again? Uninstalling the highlighted one did nothing for whatever reason.

Windows 10 major bug slipped into public builds, caused stability issues windowslatest - December 25, 2020
Over the last few weeks, users have reported that a new Windows 10 update bug appears to have broken Check Disk, one of the most useful command line-based tools that Microsoft ships with the OS.
For those unaware, Microsoft reduced the number of staff working in the Windows testing team in 2014 and started using virtual machines to test updates. In addition to its virtual machines, Microsoft also relies on Windows Insiders (a group of tech enthusiasts willing to test beta builds of Windows 10 and providing feedback on features as well as bugs)
This approach has resulted in an increased number of issues and bugs, and it is also ruining Microsoft’s reputation. There you have itLast edited: Dec 24, 2020Spartan@HIDevolution, KING19, Normimb and 1 other person like this. -
Can contain many 100.000's files (actually many, many more files that the w10 OS itself), and up to many GB's. Very safe (in my experience) to delete all files in there if no plans on resets, rollbacks etc.
As always, a (Reflect) backup (disk image) is the 1 st move, will always cure any potential consequences of late night overenthusiasm :O)Attached Files:

Microsoft is fixing a bug that deletes your passwords in Windows 10 windowslatest.com - December 29, 2020
In November, Microsoft acknowledged a bug that caused Windows 10 to fail to remember passwords in Chrome, Edge, OneDrive and other apps. The problem appears to happen randomly and to different applications, which makes bug tracking more difficult.
The reports of the problem first surfaced in April and it’s finally getting fixed in the next cumulative update, which is expected to arrive in February or March.

"Windows 10 bug corrupts your hard drive on seeing this file's icon"
- An unpatched zero-day in Microsoft Windows 10 allows attackers to corrupt an NTFS-formatted hard drive with a one-line command.
- In multiple tests by BleepingComputer, this one-liner can be delivered hidden inside a Windows shortcut file, a ZIP archive, batch files, or various other vectors to trigger hard drive errors that corrupt the filesystem index instantly.
- After running the command in the Windows 10 command prompt and hitting Enter, the user will see an error message stating, "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

If I understood how it happened, it probably never would have. There is apparently some kind of back door someplace, or maybe Windows 10 glitched and temporarily ignored my settings intended to block it. Fortunately, nothing got screwed up in the process.
Edit: I never get overly concerned. I keep Macrium Reflect images and if ever something doesn't go down my way, I veto Micro$lop and undo their messes with my Macrium sledge hammer in a matter of minutes.Last edited: Feb 3, 2021 -

Windows 10 KB4598291 fixes another bug, but it’s also causing other issues windowslatest.com - February 8, 2021
Earlier this month, Windows 10 received a KB4598291 cumulative update which fixes a host of bugs, including some of the features broken by the October 2020 Update, such as the Alt-Tab apps switcher and Windows Credentials manager....
In addition to aforementioned bug fixes, this optional cumulative update also includes a fix for an issue which causes ESENT 642 errors. For those uninitiated, ESENT is a DLL in Windows and it is a data storage tech that powers different parts of the operating system.
User reports had suggested that mysterious error was causing performance and crashes for some installations of Windows 10. The problem was first reported when the May 2020 Update was launched, and Insiders had flagged it almost a year ago.
Windows 10 KB4598291 broke Discord screen share with audio windowsreport.com
Last week, Microsoft rolled out KB4598291, an optional cumulative system update that contained lots of fixes for browser-use and games.
However, it seems that while the update did correct frequent crashes, it also brought along other issues, which users have rapidly shared on dedicated forums.
