I ran into one major problem, .net framework 3.5 won't install I tried 3 different methods. Did you get it installed? -

Yup th first thing I do post format is install it. Use the method for. The Tweaks thread which shows you the DISM command -

Phoenix should be Phoenix himself. Being a CEO, he will be using a Mac or Surface Pro with pre-defined organisation profiles that installs bloated OS on top of each other every time.
I use winaero script to install netfx3 by mounting ISO. These days, I integrate it to save time via NTLite.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
@Phoenix this is an amazing resource, thanks muchly.
Is there a light version of this or would you still recommend I follow all the steps? Some of them seem a bit daunting. New rig so I'm a little nervous. -

No, the RTM version will remain the same, they will just release an update. -
I have 0 issues with RS4 so far, so I am not worried about it or anything, I am getting a Samsung Odyssey Virtual Reality headset tomorrow I got on sale, so I am just hoping it works lolMari1225 likes this.

A question for all regarding which driver to choose for a clean install…
I believe I asked this once before, but am I better off using the manf. drivers, or finding the most recent versions on my own? The general consensus last time was to keep using the manf. drivers (Acer in my case), but the reason I'm asking again is that my laptop has been cast aside and Acer hasn't released an updated driver for well over a year. I'm really not sure if I should just continue using them or find newer versions myself (oem, or <shudder> just use the MS versions>
Another question for Phoenix regarding installing on a machine with 2 drives. You recommended (on your other thread) creating a 2nd partition to keep the boot files all in one place, but somebody else chimed in saying why not just put the 2nd drive offline. That's the route I've been going and haven't had any boot files go missing yet (that I know of) - and it makes for a handy place to keep all the drivers and offline installers for when the OS is finished installing. Just wondering what your thoughts are and if there is any foreseeable problems continuing this
Cheers -

1) Get the latest common drivers like Intel Chipset, IMEI, LAN/WLAN (if they are the same models on your laptop), VGA Drivers from this thread, they should work fine on all laptops:
MSI GT75 TITAN Drivers
2) As for the partition, on my MSI Unlocked BIOS, I can simply disable the other drives when installing Windows and once the installation is complete, I enable them but if you don't have that option, you can either physically remove the drive(s) OR simply create a D: partition on the first drive so you'd have C: and D:, that way, Windows will ignore the other drives and just place the boot files on the main drive.Token CDN likes this. -
I was under the assumption that making the HDD offline in diskpart would be the same as being unplugged (my NitroBE makes it an epic PitA to physically remove the drive). Can that D: partition just be deleted after install? My SSD is only 128GB and I don't see a need for more than the 1 partition for my daily use
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
Never tried that disk part method you can try and yes off course you can delete that D partition after the install and expand your current partition to reclaim the space.

What happened to the new spring update, Windows 10 version 1803?-Computerworld.com
Zac Bowden, reporting on Windows Central, attributes the delay to a “blocking bug” — which, in normal English, just means “a bug so bad that Microsoft figured they better stop the rollout”:
According to my sources, over the weekend Microsoft found a blocking bug that, while apparently rather rare, is impactful enough to hold the release until the issue is fixed. … Thanks to feedback from Insiders in the Fast, Slow, and Release Preview rings, this bug was caught before rollout began.
Which is rather remarkable, because “Windows Insider” beta testers have had 17133.1 for two weeks — Fast ring got it on March 27, Slow ring on March 30, and Preview ring on April 10. Hard to understand how it could take two weeks to discover a bad bug.
Microsoft holds on releasing Windows 10 Version 1803 to the public-Windows Central.com
Microsoft has found a blocking bug that has temporarily postponed the planned release of Windows 10 Version 1803 to the public. Here's what we know...
According to my sources, over the weekend Microsoft found a blocking bug that, while apparently rather rare, is impactful enough to hold the release until the issue is fixed. Microsoft has internal criteria that a build needs to pass before it goes out to the public, and that criteria is extra thorough when it comes to the production 'ring,' as you might expect. Thanks to feedback from the UNPAID Insiders GP'S in the Fast, Slow, and Release Preview rings, this bug was caught before rollout began.

Windows 10 1803 Release Remains Uncertain as Microsoft Considers Rolling Out a New RTM Build
Windows 10 1803 might get a new RTM build
New evidence now points to Windows 10 Build 17134. Windows build tracker, BuildFeed, has confirmed that Windows 10 17134 exists. However, it can’t be confirmed whether this is the RTM build.
If the company is indeed going to release a fresh new Windows 10 1803 build, it might bug some Windows 10 fans who have already downloaded build 17133 believing it was the one that would be released to the public. However, it is likely that those early adopters (not Insiders) GUINEA PIGS will be upgraded to the new build without having to clean install Windows 10 1803.

As a power user, it's nothing short of an annoying PITA. It takes me weeks to tweak a clean install just right to my liking. It's really a shame a clean install needs so much work to be usable for us non-idiots who don't want M$ up in our **** constantly spying and making unauthorized changes to our O/S automatically without giving us a choice to consent to them.Spartan@HIDevolution, Vasudev and Papusan like this. -
I don't think Clean install will be needed anyways for upgrading to same builds.

you need to type offline disk/volume/partition first the reclaim the space. Otherwise best option is to use trial version of Minitool partition wizard or easeUS LiveCD to todo the partitioning.Phoenix said: ↑Never tried that disk part method you can try and yes off course you can delete that D partition after the install and expand your current partition to reclaim the space.

So can I just use the tip from the earlier page ... have we confirmed this to work....
Instead or partitioning and changing MBR (I know this is master boot something but don't know what it does)....
Can I just set the second regular HD offline so it only recognizes the SSD and install Windows that way properly?
Basically
diskpart
>select disk HD (HD = disk you want offline)
>clean
>select disk SSD (SSD=disk to install on)
>clean
>select disk HD (HD = disk you want offline)
>offline disk
Then proceed to install Windows. Sorry for all of this. I'm paranoid and not amazing with laptops. Has anyone confirmed this install Windows properly ... putting the disk Offline?Vasudev likes this. -
Best option is to remove unneeded disks whilst installing Windows or Linux. If you have prema bios you can disable unneeded drives via BIOS and re-enable them afterwards.Highland7 said: ↑So can I just use the tip from the earlier page ... have we confirmed this to work....

This worked for me
In bios boot from usb frist
Create Windows usb
Boot from usb
Clean hdds in disk part
Disable hdd in disk part that you're not installing on ... select disk ... disk Offline.
Restart
Custom install into sad
For laptop drivers from usb in order listed on website ... probably just connect it to internet and itll work too ...
Reenablr data drive (was still offline after install so I'm pretty sure Windows was just installed on SSD) -

I am just aboiut to bleed through lack of sleep. Followed @Phoenix guide here to get 1803 going. Had a fair bit of trouble:
Lost count of the times I reinstalled from the image. Two days straight until 4am.
I'm not sure what in the tweaks was breaking my Windows store but it happened on my 17xx build as well.
Followed the guide through to the point where macrium is used to create an Image.....
As soon as I put the machine online, utter carnage. Store and some apps = forked, wouldnt update, everything stuck at pending.
Tried all documented forms of recovery, from PS scripts to get/reinstall store. Nope.
Tried Local/MS account.
Also tried creating new account - that opened a world of pain.
The only way I could get stuff working was to do a full fat install and I am now gradually going back through the tweaks and lockdowns making copious use of restore points.
I dont know how else to diagnose this. Thoughts?
PS Everything store related is working fine ... For Now. Including Nahimic 3.Maleko48 likes this. -
I wouldn't bother with Windows Restore points, just the full image restore points. This is why I have my Win10 (that's finally setup correctly) to avoid any sort of updates at this point. I am terrified of the day my Windows takes a forced update and royally screws me over. On that note today is a good day to make a full image backup of my system. The only thing which can break the store is if you have the Windows update service set to disabled.
I use a Local Account and that's the only way you should use Windows IMHO -
