I think I've got it sorted, Got old calculator instead![]()
I wouldn't mind if you could have a quick look over things. MS Defender needs nerfed and I'm not sure I have done it properly/all.
My friend is getting married on saturday so I am out tomorrow for a few errands but will ping when home.
Thanks a lot![]()

Good day Phoenix. Hope you well. I have a problem and sometime my laptop reboots on it's own so I checked Event Viewer and I saw this log and it came up a few times.
WHEA 17- a corrected error has occurred, PCI Express root port
Vendor ID Device ID: 0x8086:0xA115
Bus:0x0
device:0x1 function: 0x5
Class code: 0x30400
What does it mean exactly? Do I need to be concerned?
Thanks so much. @Phoenix -

I use only slim CCleaner 5.43 and also kept a old copy of cc_slim 5.32 which is last version before Avast bought it.
I'm looking for alternatives now System Ninja or similar. I really like CCleaner reg cleaner.hmscott likes this. -

Well Microsoft Windows 10 has one with me and probably a million other people too, spent 2 weeks on and of and the last 3 days straight trying to install a fresh install 10 (1803)
without all the invasion, thought I had it right but no mater what I do with all the blocking software or tweaks it still downloads their bloody nVidia drivers + Audio + 3D Vision which I don't want and even a Logitech update. Ive tried O&O ShutUp10 v1.6.1398 and used WUMT Wrapper Script v2.4.2 to disable the drivers I don't want but guess what they still download in the background., unless I stop dead all updates from Microsoft completely.
Where do we go from here????????????? -

@Wolfzz - Why not accept its updates, or reinstall / change after it finishes its thing?
 -

Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
To stop driver updates you need both O&O ShutUp10 and Windows 10 Pro to have access to the group policy editor and enable the rule which says " Do not include driver updates with Windows uodates"
Using one or the other wont work you need these 2 things to stop driver updates -

Thanks for that got the group policy editor and enable the rule which says " Do not include driver updates with Windows updates" Sorted just not sure what to turn on or off in O&O ShutUp10

Worth using these programs W10Privacy or Destroy Windows 10 Spying or just stick with 0 & 0 ShutUp10?
 -

Thanks Guys for all you help. But no mater what I do to stop Microsoft installing their nVidia drivers ones they still seem to come through the back door.
Tried with gpedit (driver updates with windows updates turning off all updates) and with O&O ShutUp10 and still no luck, besides turning off everything, but then i will not be able to receive any updates for Office 2016 or any other important updates etc: Adobe, Silver light etc... It cant be that hard just to turn off Hardware Drivers? But I tried all your suggestions ( Phoenix) thanks again.
So again Microsoft wins with their Invasion looks like I'm back to Windows 7 at least you can pick and choose what you want to install and even hide what you don't want.
We just need a program that will give you a option of what or not to install just like we had built in windows 7. -

I have a new laptop with Windows 10 preinstalled. A number of the preinstalled drivers seem to be the latest available. Is installing stuff like the Intel chipset, ME, RST still applicable--or is that just for situations where you are installing Windows yourself?

 Just to double-check:
Is the currently recommended Microsoft Visual C++ Libraries installer the one by the developer named Wilenty from March 2018 at the top of the linked-to MajorGeeks webpage?
There's a note at the linked-to MajorGeeks webpage which reads: "Visual C++ Runtime Installer is no longer available on MajorGeeks. Be sure to try Visual C++ Runtime Installer (All-In-One)," with a second link within the note.
So is the recommended download the one from Wilenty or is it the one by Burf from October 2017? -

I made an account here just to thank @Phoenix in advance for all this stuff. I'm about to buy my first Windows 10 computer (been holding out on W7 for years) and this shall be my bible.
So thanks Phoenix!
Edit: Mostly the other thread, actually, the tweaks one. Since W10 will already be install on my machine and all.Last edited: Aug 13, 2018Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

@Phoenix I've got the laptop if you're available.

@Phoenix Is it possible you could PM me for a few quick questions (won't take up too much of your time), I'm the same guy who had problems with connecting via TV/Google Remote Desktop so I had to do everything manually. Followed the guide and ran into a few problems, but managed to fix a majority of them. Thanks for understanding.

Teamviewer v13 is a hit or miss these days. TV 13 wasn't working on my PCs even on Fresh install of win 10 or linux. So I kicked it out and went with Anydesk. Its under 2 MB and works for all platforms. Its not as intuitive as TV but you'll get used to it.
What problems did you face? Maybe post it here so phoenix will try to help. -

@Phoenix @Mr. Fox @Papusan Can you give me a hand please.. I am having issues with my windows 10 home.. Windows 10 randomly updates itself without my permission.. Its like a virus, even though I am using O&O shut up 10.. It seems O&O cannot stop MS virus consistently as sometimes the virus can go through.. Is there another program to add with O&O to stop MS virus? Thanks..

Windows Update Blocker v1.1
After you download the ZIP file, before extracting it, right click on the ZIP file, go to Properties, then hit the Unblock button on the bottom right, then only unzip it otherwise the files within the ZIP would be blocked since they came from the Internet.

Be smart....be like Phoenix...

just use the tool that I gave you and be done with itFire Tiger, Vasudev and Papusan like this. -
Here is the source link for the software
He need to learn how to use Windows Update Blocker, bruh

 This nice little tool can
block any other service and protect the settings
 It's
     called...., bruh

And remember some services can't be disabled. This tool should fix it.

He should also add in this tasks in Wub.ini file for... “Windows Update medic Service”, “updateorchestrator Service” and the “Background Intelligent Transfer Service”.
The codes is...
WaaSMedicSvc=3,4
UsoSvc=3,4
BITS=3,4
He should also have created (exe) task for disable/enable Automatic Maintenance on Windows 10. Pure trash having as a ticking bomb who fire off when you don't want it to run. It’s YOUR computer... Not the Redmond Moron’s!
And remember put Network connections as metered. See... Close all doors!Last edited: Jun 26, 2019 -

I did use the tool and folllowed as what was in the image you showed..
Thank you very much.. I will do this.. Also it seems when I updated windows the metered connection settings that I originally set following phoenix's guide changed itself as what MS wanted.. I have not reverted it back as what you mention and as whats from the guide of phoenix..
Thank you for explaining how to use windows update blocker.. I will read it and use it.. Thank you very much..Papusan likes this. -

@Papusan and Phoenix Thank you again.. I have sorted it out.. I have learned that If I tick the box in Windows Update Blocker that say "Protect Service Settings". It will interfere with O&O Shut up 10 causing 1 entry in O&O disabled and saying Administrative Privileges Required. As imaged shown..

Don't worry skynet won't touch your PC. You need Trusted Installer permission to kill that Task scheduler WU tasks to disable updates otherwise WU rises from the ashes and update your PC every Patch Tuesday.0lok likes this.

On a clean install, I have all the Mickey Mouse joke games/Candy Crush/etc.
Why are you bothered though? you actually want that stuff?

Also, where did you get your ISO from? -

No . I think it's like an error
This is like a default windows 10 after installing.
after I do a clean install

Here I am getting excited seeing a notification in this thread.. I thought the guide has been updated and has a bloatware free home edition.. never mind..

I don't know where you got your ISO from that's now how the default start screen should look like -
If you used my custom ISO those apps are removed and doesn't even get installed in the first place. Fresh install uses disk space of 8GB.
