Is there any preferred method for upgrading from 10 Home (embedded key) to Pro?
I just got one of those cheap keys (thx to Papusan for the link and Mr. Fox for advice) and am thinking about tempting fate. What I'm guessing is just to make my install USB as usual, but add that ei.cfg and then proceed doing a Pro install. When it comes time to do the activation should I enter the key at the start or wait until after I have everything configured to my liking? I'm guessing that the embedded key isn't going to overide my Pro key but is there way to "replace" the embedded Home key with the new Pro one - basically for piece of mind so I don't need to worry about misplacing the Pro key (plus I am a lazy, lazy man and would love to avoid entering the key each time I have to do the inveviable clean reinstall)
Cheers. -
I really need one -

Added to the OP:
1) Set the boot mode in your BIOS to Intel Rapid Storage (AKA RAID)
2) Create the RAID Array from the BIOS for the required SSDs and set the Data Stripe Size to 64K
3) Boot from the Windows 10 Installation Disk
4) When it prompts you to install Windows and shows you the drive, don't create the partition yet, instead, hit Load Driver then navigate to the root of your Windows 10 USB Flash Disk then point it to the folder which contains the RAID Driver and let it load the first driver (you usually see 2 choices)
5) Now create the partition and install Windows on it
6) Configure everything as you like then install all your drivers
7) Now after Windows loads, wait for about 2 minutes until you see the Rapid Storage Technology icon in the taskbar, then head to the performance tab and set the options like this:

Is that how MS is differentiating the latest version from the pulled initial version?
When MS reissues a patch it doesn't change the number, it simply replaces the old one of the same number.
That would be my guess...Vasudev, Spartan@HIDevolution and Djadit like this. -

It’s official: Microsoft is pushing Win10 1809 on non-seeker machines

In the no good deed goes unpunished department…
I’ve now seen several reports that Microsoft has started pushing Win10 1809 on normal Win10 PCs, even without the “Check for updates” requirement. The forced update march is here.
I repeat: If you don’t want 1809 just yet, block it. Or you can sit and wait for Win10 to reboot.
If it does.

Hello Guys,
I just tried to start a clean install via USB for Windows 10 by following the steps from the NBR guide. I got to the Partition Wizard but I can’t get to the Disk Part for ensure proper installation. I pressd Shift+F10 to open the command prompt window to no avail. What’s going wrong here? I purchased this X1 Carbon 6th Gen notebook and it has Windows 10 Home preinstalled and I wanted to start fresh, upgrade to Pro and remove all bloatware. Please help, I'm stuck. Any direction would be appreciated. I attached a photo of partition wizard.
Thanks again,

Reinstall Windows 10 Offline - The Benefits

If it 'does what it says on the tin' does it remove W10 as well then, as that truly fits the description? -

Hi, Guys!
Thanks again for the tip on how to get to the command prompt from a fresh install. When I downloaded the bootable file from M$ for Windows 10 I noticed they don’t provide an option for which Edition that is installed. I received a key for Windows 10 Pro for Workstations key from my job. It appears I have to add the key in the change product key section of Windows. Is this accurate?
Does anyone have any reviews of the Pro for Workstations Edition? Would I be better off buying the regular Pro key or having the job give me Enterprise? I mainly use this workbook for MS Office and work related IT programs such as SQL and web browsing and etc. but no gaming.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks again,

How to select Windows Home or Pro when installing Windows 10 -
My apologizes @Ultra Male I must have overlooked that post. I have been reading the NBR Windows 10 Clean Install. I was also trying to find information regarding which install to use. Pro, Pro with Workstations or Enterprise. I will read this now, though.

What Is Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, and How Is It Different?
to add the Ultimate Performance power plan to any edition of Windows:
Enterprise has a few worthwhile features if you have a license for it like the ability to disable Windows Telemetry from the Group Policy Editor by setting its value to Enabled = 1 (Security Only) which only works on Enterprise but nothing substantial other than that for a home/power user although you will find a few group policy rules that say Enterprise only. Seems like Enterprise is what Pro should have been. -
Thanks @Ultra Male the Home/Pro post was spot on. Sound like I should add the Enterprise key. However, the Pro with Workstations is free as well, so I guess I should be able to work with it if necessary.

Last thing @Ultra Male, Using Enterprise, will I still need to disable the spyware or use some the steps listed for cleaning up Windows 10 Pro? O

@Ultra Male it looks like M$ is definitely playing games. So my job gave me a copy of Enterprise LTSC 2019 (1809) this morning. I was a little unfamiliar with this version, so I did a little research. It’s confusing as ever. M$ basically says it’s not recommended to install MS Office on LTSC, but only will allow Office 2019 to be installled. Why would they allow Office 2019 to install if I shouldn’t use Office on the OS in the first place? This doesn’t make any sense, in my opinion.
They also say I should use if using for general use. It sounds like bull. -

@Ultra Male, you have a point. I just figured that since LTSC 2019 recently released they wouldn’t blantantly give false info. Smh. Again, I didn’t know much about LTSC and didn’t want to put these all my programs on my computer and have crappy performance/experience. I never had all this with Win7.

@Vasudev thank for your reply. My organization relies on manual updates. The system manager told me that computers connected to the server get get their updates deployed. In my case, the license is not connected directly to their affairs.
In regards to MS Office, I generally don’t keep a computer pass 5 years, so updating to Office 2030 under this system isn’t likely. I recently got a X1Carbon 6th edition. Good points though.
Thanks again,

@Vasudev, M$ really made LTSC a barebones system. I have to check and make sure the .net frameworks are accessible. One thing is for sure, they had a lot spy features still active.
Thanks to @Ultra Male I’m able to have some control over my computer, sheesh. I will load my drivers and programs tomorrow. I’ll post my results.

@Ultra Male Was hoping you could help out with this. Reinstalled windows, been following everything but wanted to know how to change this;
Old:
Now:
I'd like to revert back to the old screenshot if possible.
Also for post #15 if these don't show up, but two from post 7 did, am I good to go or did I miss something along the way?
"WinDefend" & "WdNisSvc" only show up. -

1) I don't use MS Paint. I use FastStone Capture for taking screenshots and making annotations in screenshots.
2) I don't use the Windows 10 Start Menu, I use Open-Shell
Regarding your second question, if you don't see anything when you type defend in Autoruns, then you're good
When I run my registry tweak to disable Windows Defender Services, it gets rid of all those startup entries
