No guarantee. I trust only myselfThe whole Win 10 is a mess. + drivers and tools who have to deal with it. And not forget the hardware.

The problem is the belief that this actually matters. Micro$haft "support" is tantamount to control and interference. As long as I can activate Windows 7 and find drivers that work with newer hardware, I will continue using it. With the belief that their support matters continuing to cloud the judgment of the masses, it is anyone's guess how long that will be. The Digi-Nazi dictatorship will, out of necessity, resort to sabotage, because they are dishonest control freaks that enjoy playing god and they actually believe they know what is best for everyone. They are against autonomy and freedom.
I don't care about VR, so Oculus and Vive are irrelevant gimmicks to me. But, there are other Kool-Aid drinkers that worship at the Redmond altar of filth, so more are likely to follow. This is one of the reasons I started my experimentation as an Insider and continue to dual boot Windoze OS X.
Keeping your enemies closer than your friends is good advice.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

I actually redid the cabling (once again) and covered one of WWAN cables (which turned out to have some stripped insulation near the hinge) with a nice layer of electrical tape - and WiGiG works again, so far. The color profile problem, however, is still here obviously.alexhawker, Vasudev and Mr. Fox like this. -
Very vice said. Everything has to be worse before it will be any better. Can’t trust others as I said in my previous post!!
What may works for others doesn’t mean it works for all others vs. this ****y OS. I mean software, drivers vs. all types hardware with Win 10. A lottery. -
After a long time just had a new go at testing 10, preparing for the day it may be time for some new laptop(s). Install went fine (no network of course), was ok to see some improvement in the privacy choice interface during install (but hey, the bastards could have made it like that in the first release). Still, with everything turned off it's probably 1\10th of what shutup10 offers.
Did all the usual installs anf fixes (shutup, a normal \ useable browser, a good file manager etc, deleted all the (cr)apps, killed and dismembered Cortana etc). Result it works ok, the dozens of ip connections stopped etc. Could live with this if on a desert island with nothing else available.
But by God, the looks and behavior, what an ugly milkshake of vanilla icecream + anchovies, with pastel coloring additive. For example, that they have still not, after all these years, managed to come up with something better than the ridiculous jumping between Control Panel and 'Modern (lol) menus'. Looks like coming from their Frankenstein dept., the eternal beta os relased upon unsuspecting villagers.
Impression, after tweaks it could run my programs fine, and privacy\control ok, but zero urge or need to jump ship from 8.1 for the foreseable future. -
Mind if I ask what you used to dismember Cortana, up to date for 1803 and what you used to disable the IP connections. I'm using the latest SU10 but Cortana (and Edge) keep rearing their ugly heads up in taks manager?I think I need to update the blocked sites list on my router if there is one kicking about, these sneaky beggars keep moving things around!
Thanks

Cortana running in the task manager does not mean Cortana is actually active if you've disabled her using Group Policy Editor or O&O ShutUp10, it is simply the searchui.exe used for the Windows Search. That task has just been renamed.
See: Why Is Cortana Still Running in the Background After You Disable It?Vistar Shook, Vasudev, Mari1225 and 2 others like this. -
^^^ have sometimes used the knife approach :O) deleted searchui.exe (or renamed to spyui.exe lol), one has a split second (before it restarts) to delete it after disabling it in task manager. Surely other ways to do this. Don't remember if Take Ownership was needed there or not.
Then am using Classic Start menu's search for basics and the excellent https://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/ for serious needs.Vistar Shook, Mari1225 and Woodking like this. -

Found a bug after updating this one: It deletes/updates netfx assemblies causing huge stutters or slowdown in shutdown/resboot process. I was able to find a workaround:
Everyone needs to update x86 assemblies first and then x64 assemblies. Use elevated powershell or cmd prompt.
Code:cd C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319 ngen update cd C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319 ngen update

Windows 10 Cumulative Update July 16 2018
KB4345421 Download = http://download.windowsupdate.com/d..._c5a035dc1ec030a5be0626c8b019b9c4f6e8a1a6.msu
This updates Windows 10 to build 117134.167
The update KB4345421 for Windows 10 version 1803 addresses several issues caused by updates released on the July 2018 Patch Day.
Microsoft notes that the update does not introduce new features to the operating system. Note that Microsoft may not list all changes on the Knowledgebase page as indicated by "key changes include" on that page.
- Addresses an issue that may cause some devices running network monitoring workloads to receive the 0xD1 Stop error because of a race condition after installing the July update.
- Addresses an issue with the DHCP Failover server that may cause enterprise clients to receive an invalid configuration when requesting a new IP address. This results in a loss of connectivity.
- Addresses an issue that may cause the restart of the SQL Server service to fail occasionally with the error, “Tcp port is already in use”.
- Addresses an issue that occurs when an administrator tries to stop the World Wide Web Publishing Service (W3SVC). The W3SVC remains in a "stopping" state, but cannot fully stop or it cannot be restarted.
Microsoft states that it is not aware of any issues with the update; this may change in the coming days when admins and users install the new update and report issues back to Microsoft. The past has shown that Microsoft's "known issues" fails to list issues occasionally (or regularly?).Last edited: Jul 17, 2018Vistar Shook, Vasudev and Papusan like this. -

WOODY ON WINDOWS

NEWS ANALYSIS!
Stung by a festering pile of bugs on Patch Tuesday, MS releases 27 more patches
The bugs in this month’s Windows and Office patches were so bad that Microsoft rushed out a second set of patches six days later. Every version of Windows is affected — and Office still isn’t fixed.
Windows July patches, version 2
Yesterday, Monday, July 16, Microsoft released 27 new security patches for Windows, bringing the total number of patches so far this month up to 156. The new patches fall into six separate groups:
- Win10 version 1803 got cumulative update KB 4345421. The KB article says this update moves 1803 users to build 17134.166, but multiple sources say, in fact, they’re getting moved to 17134.167. That may seem like a small discrepancy, but it speaks volumes about last-minute changes in the build and the lack of coordination in the documentation.
- Win10 1709 got KB 4345420. The KB article says it moves 1709 users to 16299.550, but the Win10 release info page says it’s 16299.551.
- Win10 1703 got KB 4345419. The KB article says build 15063.1208. The audience says 15063.1209. Bzzzzzt.
- Win10 1607 / Server 2016 got KB 4345418. The docs say 14393.2367. The guinea pigs say 14393.2368. And the crowd goes wild

@Mr. Fox
Yet again, I wasted a full day installing the de-bloated Windows 10 with the MSMG Toolkit, now the Windows updates work but still, the Windows Store apps are broken, like launching Sticky notes which I use a lot, nothing happens, the app launches then auto closes. Then installing Age of Empires from the store, when I try to login, it keeps telling me that I need to sign in to the Xbox app which I have, but nothing happens.
I give up on debloating with MSMG, it simply cannot handle the voodoo magic that Windows 10 has built in anymore.Papusan, Aivxtla, Mr. Fox and 1 other person like this. -
You can try running the script to debloat w10 by Tairiku Okami from MDL https://pastebin.com/5Q4t1Us9
-
Yeah, it's to the point of just not being worth the hassle any more... waste of time trying to make it better. Windows 10 is a perma-broken pile of steamy digital dung. Even debloated with no UWP apps at all it is garbage. Pure and unadulterated feces OS.Vistar Shook, Vasudev, Papusan and 3 others like this.

The last time I ventured with a different OS years ago, I used Ubuntu. I didn't have too much time to fiddle with it (university stuff), but I liked how it felt.

KB4345421 went without a hitch on my convertible laptop, but can't install it on my tablet, it boots with BSOD aferwards and only works after self-repair. I even restored Windows on it before running the update, and later performed integrity check - no dice. Also, color profiles are still not fixed in this update. )'=
