Changes so far that I can see:
Fixed Windows Boot Delay:
In Redstone 3 and Redstone 4, as the Windows Loading icon is spinning, it used to hang after 5 seconds for a brief 3 second period then continue to spin/load Windows, that caused a small delay in the boot process. That didn't happen on a fresh install but it happened every time after installing all the drivers. This has now been fixed.
Fixed WLAN Connection not establishing automatically upon reboot:
One of my biggest gripes with Redstone 4 was that 80% of the time, after a reboot, I would have to connect manually to my wireless network even though I have checked the Automatically connect checkbox. This has now been fixed and you get connected to the wireless network immediately
Overall OS Snapiness:
The entire OS feels snappier, installing/opening programs, navigating through the Settings UI, etc.

I'm already shaking my head at the amount of tweaks I need to redo and do for the new stuff as well.

T_T only got the home edition..
edit: still going to download it.. might buy a pro key on pay day.. Still hoping youll make one for home edition.. -

I don't have the time honestly to de-bloat both editions now so I am uploading the standard all Edition ISO now which should be uploaded within the next 20 mins.
Don't worry you aren't missing out much since the MSMG Toolkit failed to properly remove Windows Defender and Cortana so just stick to the basics by turning off Cortana from the settings or by using O&O ShutUp10 then use CCleaner Portable to get rid of the built in Windows 10 Apps that cannot be removed the normal way -

Does the de-bloated edition still have the Windows app store?
Jolga77 likes this. -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
Only the Windows Store, Xbox, and Sticky Notes.
Xbox is needed whether use the Xbox app or not for the proper functionality of the Windows 10 Game Mode -

OK, cool. Believe it or not, I have a few Windows Store apps that I actually use so I wouldn't want to miss out on those. -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
yeah me too including Age of Empires so I need the store. Also, my MSI Jokebook has to have Nahimic installed from the Windows Crapstore otherwise the sound is horrible.Jolga77 and saturnotaku like this. -

Thank you.. Again still hoping your going to make the bloatware free home edition.. LOL.. Other people besides me might use it.. ^_^

About time you re-run your benchmarks.
Have you a newer CBR-15 benchmark than this one (run on Wincrap X RS4) you can compare with?

Because Redstone 4 was the worst build of Windows 10 ever. Give me anything else and I'm happy to ditch that crap OS. Now this is way snappier! Or maybe it's teh plac3bo 3ff3ct?

Usually W10 Insiders OS performs fast than Public release. I hoped on it and I'm disappointed. Usually same things will follow on RS5.
I'm excited about Notepad getting some good features but I already switched to VSCode and Notepad++.
Ultramale Please let us know how stable it for daily usage once it is released to Public. -
Skunks do not change their stripes. Expecting RS5 to be an improvement after every release of Windows 10 has been a downgrade is pretty silly.

Hmmm.... Every PC I installed the redstone 4 connected automatically to Wifi AP automagically like Linux does. Maybe I encountered the same issue when I have a MiFi and WiFi router having 4 AP's confused Win 10.
As for snappiness and boot delay let's hope for the best it stays that way!
One more thing, v1803 and above, rarely needs fresh install and in-place upgrade gives 95% clean install like experience on most devices. This tip might come in handy if MSFT releases new ISO to fix BSODs or blocking bugs. -
-
Hahaa. I noticed no difference in performance after upgrading from v1703 to v1803. I even Clean installed everything to make sure of it.
Anyway I'm holding out to v1803 for long as I can. I rarely get amped up about W10 features. Not going to waste time for couple of features that can be integrated to older releases easily.
Well upgrade from redstone to redstone should theoretically work w/o any issues. I got tired of the stone and need some other code name. Even had enough of Spring and Fall of the Empire editions.Jolga77 likes this. -
What version you run now of those two? And what is done of tweaks with the De-bloated Win X RS5 ISO ? Tested if eg Eset or other software etc O&O Shutup works properly with the build? What with bugs? Found some?

This nonsense makes it not worth messing with to me.
LOL. And, I want no emojis, not more of them. I am unable to relate to or identify with this being considered a feature or how it can be viewed as something important.TheDantee, Vasudev, Spartan@HIDevolution and 1 other person like this. -
Well, you can find out if it is a placebo effect or real with some simple testing.
Can you please run wPrime 32M, wPrime 1024M, Cinebench R11.5 and/or Cinebench R15? (All four would be great, but if you only have time for one, do Cinebench R15.) If you can include examples from your previous OS for comparison that would be nice as well. -
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
With my 8086K running at 4.4 GHz, my Cinebench scores were in the neighborhood of 1409-1415. Using RS5, I'm around 1429-1435. Maybe that's margin of error, but it seems there's a small improvement to be had here.

+rep. Then we will have to wait for @Ultra Male's Cinebench R15 run

What's the emoji under Kangaroo? A double light saber or double ..?
Doesn't feel like a Major upgrade anyways.c69k likes this. -
I've been running a debloated RedStone 3 release for a while now and just don't have the need or energy to want to upgrade to RedStone 5. I will probably take a plunge at the next major release but until then 3 has been service me just fine and it's snappiness is still way better than any stock version of windows 10 I've had.

I know what you thought... but I won't say it either !
well.. an advice from someone who is nearly complete 3 years with formatting my OS for any cumulative update just update it normally after 2~3 days but for any major OS releases.. wait for at least 1 week or wait a cumulative update for the major release
That is how I prevent issues & keeping the record of never formatting my laptop since I buyed it

Yeah, Can you see the big difference? Time for Cinebench R15. Need some more test results
Bruh, you remember we talked about InSpectre tool? Work even in Redtrash 5
See, I have even been
your personal GP today, bruh! What is this worth?
@Mr. Fox Amazing...
The Redmond Morons let us continue have normal Cpu performance with this new piece of pastel colored tile junk. And InSpectre tool works
The tests is done without any special tweaks. Almost right out of the box.
INSPECTRE tool work as intended.
Stock clocks (43X)
48X
51X
Most likely margin of errors. But I mean I can see 1-2w lower wattage from the wall when running Cinebench R15 (Using RS5).Last edited: Sep 28, 2018undervolter0x0309, Vasudev, Falkentyne and 1 other person like this. -

Phoenix: You have to be careful if the issue occurs over and over again. It is more likely a faulty battery or AC adapter. In my case, I had issues with brightness on battery mode, replacing it solved the issue! More hardware failures are skipped by Win 10 by masking the errors. Even BSOD are more forgiving on latest version which really makes us feel OS is good but it is not.Mr. Fox likes this.

It seems i have lost the brightness control when clicking on the battery icon after the update, do you guys know how to fix it?
-
Nope. The only way now is to use the quick action in action centre.
@Papusan @Mr. Fox Just did a quick test. Results are within margin of error. I usually get around 745.
That brightness thing never happens to me though. Nothing has changed for me and I've found one bug so far - Task Manager CPU usage information is completely broken
But then again CPU reporting from Task Manager was never accurate was it.
Boot times from power button to desktop:
Fastboot - 1803: 15s 1809: 11.5
Normal - 1803: 20s 1809: 17s
I guess fastboot is much more optimized now.
As for other aspects of the OS, things feel faster; some things might be placebo, but for sure Edge, task manager, file explorer and the startup are definitely faster.Last edited: Oct 3, 2018 -
Oh so they decided to change that brightness setting which was handy but still stick with the horrible mixture of fluent design and w7 UI...morons.
The dark theme for File Explorer is horrible imho, they've done a poor job.
The brightness 50% bug happened also to me but even with the fix using NSudo the brightness sometimes goes up to 100% instead of sticking to the user setting upon boot.Jolga77, tonyr6, Vasudev and 1 other person like this.
