I wouldn't ignore that issue, Ubuntu 18 LTS incorrectly reads EDID of monitor and shows my AW can have refresh rate of 120Hz when it can do only 60Hz. It seems Windows NT kernel is slowly being merged with Linux kernel 4.15.xxx. At least, Linux sets refresh rate correctly unlike Win 10. I'll post that screenie some other time since I'm using a different PC.

Microsoft Is Talking About Windows 10’s Quality, But Changing Nothing Howtogeek.com | 13 Nov

Microsoft today re-released Windows 10’s October 2018 Update. Rather than explaining what went wrong, Microsoft publicly patted itself on the back for its great quality assurance process. Microsoft promises increased transparency and better communication, but talk is cheap.
"Our focus until now has been almost exclusively on detecting and fixing issues quickly, and we will increase our focus on transparency and communication. We believe in transparency as a principle and we will continue to invest in clear and regular communications with our customers when there are issues."

Microsoft finally re-releases the smelly turd that is Windows 10 October 2018 Update Betanews.com | Nov 13
![[IMG]](images/storyImages/poop_keyboard-150x150.jpg)
Look, I am sorry to speak so bluntly, but Windows 10 is a smelly turd. At one point I felt like it had a lot of potential, but over the years, I have seen its quality take a massive nosedive. Microsoft has committed brand suicide many times over its long lifetime, but this time, it feels different. Regardless of what Satya Nadella thinks about services and the cloud, Windows is still the company's crown jewel -- for the operating system to have fallen so far is a tragedy.
Why is Windows 10 garbage? Well, it still has a schizophrenic user interface with silly tiles and two settings menus (merge with Control Panel already!). Not to mention, it is a privacy nightmare with its abusive telemetry. Even if you can deal with those aforementioned shortcomings, it has since gotten much worse with the October 2018 Update -- it began deleting user files and losing the ability to associate file types with certain apps. Its much-maligned activation scheme has been failing too. Yes, in 2018, what should be a mature operating system can't even do the basics. Sigh.

Windows 10 1809's new rollout: Mapped drives broken, AMD issues, Trend Micro clash Zdnet.com | November 15, 2018 -- 11:03 GMT (03:03 PST) |
Steer clear of the rereleased Windows 10 October 2018 Update, IT pro warns. Meanwhile, Microsoft promises fix for buggy mapped drives at some point next year.
Despite taking over a month to fix and test the data-deleting bug in Windows 10 1809, Microsoft didn't fix this mapped-drives bug
However, noted IT pro Susan Bradley is warning her followers to defer installing Windows 10 1809 for as long as possible because Microsoft's suggested workarounds could cause troubles with business applications.
"I cannot believe -- well, I guess in this era of Microsoft I can believe -- that Microsoft would release an update that would impact their customer base like this. Yes, it's documented, yes there are 'workarounds', but there are possibilities that line-of-business applications will not be happy with these solutions given," wrote Bradley.
In the past 24 hours Microsoft has also confirmed two more problems with the rereleased 1809. There's a compatibility issue between the 1809 update and Trend Micro's Office Scan and Worry-Free Business Security software.
At the request of Trend Micro, Microsoft has blocked the 1809 update for devices running these security products until a patch from Trend Micro has been installed.
Trend Micro has posted a support page about the issue together with its patches. Patches are only available for OfficeScan.
The third issue that's cropped up affects machines with AMD Radeon HD 2000 or HD 4000 series video cards.
Tabs in Microsoft's Edge browser may stop working on affected devices, and customers may see the error message 'INVALID_POINTER_READ_c0000005_atidxx64.dll'. There could also be performance problems with the lockscreen.
Again, Microsoft has blocked the 1809 update for all devices with the affected AMD graphics processors.
YEES. Micro$hity just had to throw out this mess before time... Nvidia's new expencive graphics cards features "Direct X Raytracing" has to be on track was more important than that the AMD boys can use their newest OS Mess!Last edited: Nov 15, 2018Vasudev likes this. -

It actually Just happened when I posted this. I went and got my wifes dell. So I got a BSOD stating could not find boot or something. I thought oh JUST GREAT. Now I am in for a few hours of messing with it. Come to find out it was my hard drive **** the bed. I went to install windows again, fresh install and NO drive was found when looking for destination drive. So, I am on my wifes inspiron 11 and am ordering 2 new SSD from amazon. a 1tb for me and a 500 gb for her. Might as well. While I have it opened, I am going to double check on ram for this one, and I am going to replace the battery in my computer that's failing quickly.Spartan@HIDevolution, Vasudev and MahmoudDewy like this.

Most likely a BIOS configuration issue. A healthy drive won't die suddenly after update. Play with RAID or AHCI settings.

Still ATi Radeon, for products that old. The renaming was not retroactive.
At any rate, AMD officially ended support of those cards (what happened to the HD3000?), in 2013.

Somebody at Microsoft deserves a medal. There’s a new, test version of the next Win10 1809 cumulative update floating around – KB 4469342 – and it’s being distributed through the Insider Release Preview ring. That is precisely where it should be.

Microsoft could be about to hit users of Windows 10's Mail app with ads -- unless they pay up
![[IMG]](images/storyImages/microsoft-mail-ads-150x150.jpg)
Ads in your inbox. Sounds like something you'd expect from the likes of Google or Yahoo, but Microsoft appears to be about to get in on the act as well.
And we're not talking about online ads in your Outlook.com account -- we're talking about ads in the Mail app that's included with Windows 10. A new report says that Microsoft is currently " testing " ads with Windows Insiders guinea pig, so it could be just a matter of time before they spread wider.

Windows 10 Redstone 5 Home/Pro De-bloated Edition
After you install the OS, the first thing you need to do is head click on the Start Menu > Windows System > then right click on Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator
Then copy/paste the following command:
Then configure all your Windows settings/library location (ie. Documents, Music, Pics, etc) then install drivers and you're good to goCode:DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase
PS: This ISO has most of the Windows Store Apps removed, Windows Defender Removed, Microsoft Edge Removed, Cortana Removed, Windows Error Reporting Removed, Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program removed, etc. BUT Windows Telemetry was NOT removed as it will break the functionality of some Windows Store apps (unfortunately some drivers/system devices need their Windows Store app to function properly) BUT you can disable Telemetry using O&O ShutUp10 after installing Windows that will not break Windows Store apps.Last edited: Nov 19, 2018 -
You should have done that DISM cleanup so that most dangling references to UWP apps and things you removed should have reduced the size to 3GB from 4.5GB stock. Once you use MSMG and removed everything close the MSMG application and point the directory to use Win Toolkit to mount it and use DismCleanup to shave off some 500Megs on each edition. Don't use NTLite Dism feature it is broken and actually increases the ISO size and makes it bigger than stock OS by breaking most stuffs which needs sfc /scannow to fix everything.
I think with your system those cleanup should be completed in 30 mins for all editions because of RAID. My drive throttles to 100MB/s doing the cleanup for one edition and it reaches 75C and speed drops are insane.

Not the first time Intel display drivers screw up. YEES, More issues keep coming
Microsoft Is Blocking Windows 10 1809 on Some More Machines – Intel Drivers to Blame Wccftech.com | 22. Nov
It took the Windows maker over a month after the initial release of the latest edition of Windows 10 to figure out the problems and resolve them. The re-release officially started last week and since then reports of more issues keep coming. Microsoft has itself reported several problems with Windows 10 version 1809.
Microsoft has today added another problem to the list. The latest issue is with some new Intel display drivers. The problem appears to be due to an Intel driver introduced before the official release of 1809. Microsoft wrote that the chip maker inadvertently released versions of its display driver to OEMs that accidentally turned on unsupported features in Windows. While the release of these drivers happened back in September, it is creating problems for some users who have upgraded to version 1809.

So this is just a scrubbed version of Windows 10? My "key" will work with it?
I am asking as when I order my laptop from HID I would need to not have them put an OS on there and do all this myself. Then again I see they have a debloat option, is this the same thing? -
I don't think they use Ultra Male's ISO since they prefer near stock OS w/o adding trial SW from MS Office,AVs etc...

both thd debloated?
what does that mean?
I'm running the de-bloated version for a week with 0 errors. Why wold you run sfc/ scannow anyway? That would replace all modified/de-bloated files to the stock ones, in which, you're better off running the regular version then if you're going to run such commands.
