@Phoenix
on your old thread you deleted for custom Win 10 ISO
you had instructions listed for RegEdit, to delete a few things... what were they again? what was the Find Next word you used?

Good day Phoenix. I apologize if this has been asked and fixed before. Hope you well. I have a problem and sometime my laptop reboots on it's own so I checked Event Viewer and I saw this log and it came up a few times.
WHEA 17- a corrected error has occurred, PCI Express root port

Not sure if this is already posted or not. Didn't see it on forum search. The Redmond Retards are still up to their no-good tricks and endless stupidity in their way of thinking. Appears you need an extra service running (more bloat) to achieve "normal" functionality in v1803. Here's a tweak to help correct their stupidity.
https://winaero.com/blog/network-computers-not-visible-windows-10-version-1803/
According to Microsoft, Windows HomeGroup was a terrific feature in the pre-cloud and pre-mobile era, but now it is outdated.
By default, computers in your local network should be visible when you browse for a network device with File Explorer. With recent changes in Windows 10 version 1803 some computers are only accessible via their names or IP addresses. ( This is an example of their abject stupidity. Side note: HomeGroup was never necessary to see and access other systems on your home network, but apparently they do not understand their own products.) To fix this annoying issue, you can apply a simple workaround.
Fix Network Computers are Not Visible in Windows 10 Version 1803
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type services.msc in the Run box and hit the Enter key.
- In the Services window, scroll down to the Function Discovery Resource Publication service.
- Double-click it to open its properties and set its startup type to Automatic.
- Now, start the service.

Rename Power Plan in Windows 10
A power plan in Windows is a set of hardware and system options that defines how your device uses and preserves power. There are three built-in power plans in the OS. Your PC can have additional power plans defined by its vendor. Also, you can create a custom power plan that will include your personal preferences. Today, we will see how to rename a power plan in Windows 10.Vasudev likes this. -
@Phoenix Tab preloading reg trick didn't work on Home editions.
I had to use gpedit.msc to disable tab preload under Computer and user configuration. -

How to disable the automatic hiding of scroll bars setting in Windows 10:
Microsoft has introduced a new feature (or rather, nuisance) in Windows 10 recently that automatically hides scroll bars until you hover over their location. This can be confusing because sometimes you might not realize there is even a scroll bar so to disable this annoying setting:
1) PC Settings > Ease of Access > Display
2) Turn off " Automatically hide scroll bars in Windows"

@Phoenix Thank you so much for the fantastic help! When I click at "everything" there is an annoying pop-up. I try to run it as an admin by default but doesn't help.
Is there any way to disable this?
ThanksSpartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

You can open Everything > Tools > Options > General
Then click on the Everything Service checkbox to have its service running in he background
Now go to D:\Software\Everything folder
Right click on Everything.exe then go to Properties > Compatibility > Change Settings for All Users (button located at the bottom) . Now, uncheck the box which says Run this Program as Administrator then hit Ok and Ok again to exit the properties Window then reboot.
Now everything will work without Admin Access and thus, no popup
PS: I forgot to show you how to restore the Phoenix Image that I created for you so make sure you watch this video till the end, towards the end is where I show you how to restore an image:

Hey @Phoenix, remember the Disk Cleanup shortcut you gave me before? I was wondering if it still works on you. We both have the same OS version (17134.167).

OT: Regarding the use of MS Office, what stuff do you usually keep running?
Here's my Autoruns screenshot for "Office."
It also came with two telemetry entries (AgentFallBack2016 and AgentLogOn2016) that I've turned off.Last edited: Jul 21, 2018Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

How to fix the bad Windows 10 DPI Scaling which makes some programs appear blurry
Windows XP and 7 applied scaling on a per system wide level so everything scales perfectly and looks sharp. Then starting from Windows 8, Micro$haft started using per app scaling which caused issues but with Windows 8, you were stable able to make it on a per system wide level. Now with Windows 10 it only has per app scaling so..., the above tool can fix that, before using it, make sure you set back your scaling level to 100% and reboot then only use the tool to choose the scaling level you want as to not confuse it.
Windows 10 Redstone 4 has an option to fix blurry apps that doesn't do crap. But here's a little tweak where you can fix this
1) Click on Start > PC Settings
2) Type Blurry in the Search box
3) Then follow the below illustrations:
End result, everything look sharp like it should (excuse the quality is not the best from the screenshot but it will be super sharp on your PC):

Forgive me if I'm wrong, why isn't your partitions for windows 10 not conforming to MSFT's UEFI PC disk layout?
If WU installs new windows RS5 you'll get new recovery partition just after C: partition.
I found a neat performance trick for spindle drives especially external HDDs.
Code:defrag /X C:
Code:defrag /O C:
The first command (/X) will perform free space consolidation to keep the new files as contiguous as possible just like Contig.exe
The second command (/O) will choose best possible optimisation/defrag for your media.
My external HDD after 3-4 years slowed down to 20MB/s for R/W. After optimisation, it hits 160MB/s. Tried it on internal HGST drive which was getting 80MB/s R/W, now its 130MB/s for R/W.steberg likes this. -

Am I crazy? Or does Windows 7 and 8.1 feel much snappier, things loading quicker programs opening faster compared to Windows 10.
And yes its a serious post I have been forced to use W10 after AMD drivers stopped working completely in W8.1
However just in case I dual booted W7 on my laptop and it feels much quicker in general, my W10 is entreprise edition, I did not activate it yet.
Anyone else experiencing this strange issue? Or is it normal behaviour?Vasudev likes this. -
that being said... the April 2018 update made everything a little snappier... win 10 is junk though, I am just waiting on the next WSUS offline update for win 8.1 then I am going back to win 8.1 permanently. -
Wow this is a headache to go through all....I just got a new kaby lake based laptop and there is no choice but to use windows 10....what cancer this system is. I wish I could go back to 7 but it just doesn't seem feasible thanks to Intel not releasing crucial drivers.
Will the latest edition of ShutUp10 disable telemetry/keylogging/ads, or is there extra crap I have to do? I'm really not in the mood to keep fighting the OS.Aroc, Vasudev, Tempuser2949682 and 1 other person like this. -
I'm also at the same impasse, just that I haven't bought one yet. Hell 10 might make me not buy a new laptop at all damn it. If you're willing I've seen that ltsb is commonly recommended over standard.

Hey guys, I m still on Windows 7, but thinking to buy a new laptop with Nvidia RTX graphics. My concern is if I do all the first page tweaks for Windows 10 and every half year coming a Redstone update, will it deneutralize my tweaks? So every half year tweaks will be necessary?
When is coming a newer Windows actually? Windows 20 by 2020? I m kind of freaked out using Windows 10.

All I keep hearing from Windows Central (really close to banning them like the rest of Mobile Nations) is that Windows 10 is the last OS. From here on out, Microshaft is introducing something called Core OS:
https://www.windowscentral.com/understanding-windows-core-os-and-polaris
.
Microshaft is failing at the OS game. Their trash is so entrenched in mainstream computing. W'e need a visionary to offer a viable alternative to Windows and OS X (Mac OS). Linux doesn't seem to have a lot of traction either.
I'm waiting for the folks at Crapple to convince endusers that mobile OS is good enough for desktops. -

So ya I updated to 17134.228 from .83 in win 10 pro. I have two computers exactly same OS and same settings except one is Sager laptop and the other is Asus homemade desktop.
Interestingly when I disabled Cortana on both machines it prevents updates from completing on both computers. Frustrating!
I did sf/scannow, did repair cortana .... I see cortana back in task manager.
I then used DISM++ to clear WU cache.
I could not uninstall failed install cus it just restart and loop back around to reinstalling it again. So I used DISM to install the update I wanted, over the top of the failed one and the failed one left from installed updates. Now I can uninstall the same update just fine.
IT WORKED! On both computers just fine. So what about Cortana... I disabled her again lol
I had been trying to solve this puzzle for a month here... Thank you Vasudev for the help on this one!
My Question is though why on my desktop it disabled my notifications and calendar so when I click on them in lower right they do not come up, so i cannot see notifications at all. BUT on my Sager lappy, It worked just fine with no issues that I see ....yet.... I went through all of Googles tricks but nothing fixed yet.
I can always uninstall the update and try again but I did not want to push my luck
Does anyone know a quick way to fix that issue? I cannot even find the disable enable for notifications in the reg files either on the desktop.... but on my lappy it is there and works.Vasudev likes this. -

I can't quite remember all the tweaks I've done before, but I've always had my notifications quickly cleared (like how Windows Defender notifies me to turn it on or something) after it pops out.
Quite recently, I did some tweaks using the GP editor after looking at some posts by some of the valued members here. I specifically deactivated Windows Security Center with it, but now, its notification to turn it on won't clear right away like before. What did I do wrong this time?Vasudev likes this. -

How to stop Windows 10 from installing sponsored apps:
When you install Windows 10 Home/Pro, it will by default install all Candy Crush and all sponsored content. You can disable that by adding the following registry keys via Command Prompt. (you must restart after applying the following tweak)
Copy/Paste the below code into a blank notepad and save it as: Disable Sponsored Apps.bat (or simply download the already created file)
Code:reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager" /v "ContentDeliveryAllowed" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager" /v "OemPreInstalledAppsEnabled" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager" /v "PreInstalledAppsEnabled" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager" /v "PreInstalledAppsEverEnabled" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager" /v "SilentInstalledAppsEnabled" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager" /v "SoftLandingEnabled" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager" /v "SubscribedContentEnabled" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager\Subscriptions" /f reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager\SuggestedApps" /f
When you install Windows, you shouldn't be connected to the internet. If you are connected to the Internet otherwise Windows will auto install all the sponsored apps in the background.Installed64, Mari1225, Aroc and 4 others like this. -

I guess the MicroMonkeys need some people with limited drive space to uninstall software they use to make room for Windoze OS X update bloat, LOL. Pretty dumb the update process doesn't check for adequate drive space before downloading.
