How to stop Windows 10 from installing unwanted Store apps
Windows 10 automatically install unwanted apps from the Windows store without your consent such as games or other apps (ie. Candy Saga Crash, Mickey Mouse, etc.).
To stop this, do the following:
1) Press the Windows Key + i to launch PC Settings.
2) Go to Perosnalization > Start then uncheck "Show suggestions occasionally in Start"
3) Download the following ZIP fill which contains to registry files, one to disable and the other is to re-enable the automatic installation of Windows Store Apps: Download Windows Store App Automatic Installation
4) Double click on the file named Disable automatically installing suggested apps.reg to merge it with the registry
5) Uninstall any apps that you don't want which were automatically installed from the Windows Store

I had not a clue what you meant by "I wouldn't use any Windows 10 if it wasn't LTSC". Never cared to even see what it was all about. Well, today my brother @Mr. Fox h00k3d me up with it so I formatted and installed and man! This feels like another Windows altogether! More like Windows 7 but with support for modern hardware! It is so fast and snappy it's insane! Big programs which take ages to install like Adobe Photoshop/Premiere Elements 2020 now take less time to install. Reboots are faster, nothing to tweak really other than cosmetics! No one should be using Windows 10 other than LTSC! The rest are justLast edited: May 1, 2020 -

Increase Icon Cache Size to speed up the loading of folders with thumbnails:
Sometimes you may go into a folder and notice the icon thumbnails are loading. While this process may be faster if it was on an SSD, on an HDD it could take an even longer time.
It is recommended you increase the icon cache size from the default 512KB to 4MB so more thumbnails can be stored in the Windows thumbnail cache resulting in faster loading of those thumbnail previews and the loading of the folder in itself.
1) Download the following ZIP File: Icon Cache Size
2) Extract it
3) Double click on Set icon cache size to 4MB.reg to merge it with your registry.
4) Reboot
5) If for any reason you want to go back to the Windows default settings for Icon Cache Size, simply double click on Default icon cache size.reg and then reboot.Vasudev, Papusan, Mr. Fox and 1 other person like this. -

Hi,
I'm new to this forum.
I am a mathematician by profession.
I've ordered a new notebook from Hidevolution which is due to be delivered in about 2 weeks.
Here are the essentials:
* EVOC High Performance Systems NH583 (NH58AC) - 15.6" FHD 120Hz
* AMD® Ryzen™ 9 3900 12 Core - 24 Thread Processor, 3.1 GHz (Max Boost Clock 4.3 GHz), 64 MB Smart Cache
* NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti w/ 6GB GDDR6
* Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on CPU + GPU, and Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads on heat sensitive surfaces
* Sabrent 4TB Rocket PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD - Up to 3,450 MB/s Read - 3,000 MB/s Write
* HIDevolution Approved Standard 32GB Dual Channel DDR4/3200MHz (2 x 16GB)
* Genuine Windows® 10 Pro, 64bit, English
This specification reflects the usage intended for the machine: Mathematical & engineering processing.
I am not a game fan, so I don't need better video adapters.
I am very impressed by the technical know-how of many of the members in this forum ( Spartan & others) and very eager to hear your advice as to how to tweak the operating system or any other remarks you have.
Thank you -

Disable Windows Update
A number of users have reported that the newer algorithm fails to disable updates in Home editions of Windows 10. In version 0.17.1, I am using the legacy method for Home editions, and the newer one for Pro editions, so everything should work now as expected.
Yeah, Home Edition Horror Edition is a disguting part of M$ portefolio of OS. -

As usual, Windows 8.1 remains the most stable version of Windows – unless you’re running Windows 7 and paying for Extended Security Updates.

I don't use Everything on LTSC simply because I don't have any need for it. The classic Windows Search in LTSC is more than fine for me and I like it better because it's not something added to fix an underlying issue. There is no underlying issue to fix. But, LTSC has none of the rubbish like shown in that screenshot after removing Cortana.
The depth and magnitude of the effort on the part of the Digital Mafia to produce trash is stupefying. It's difficult to comprehend how many calories they burn on worthless rubbish.Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
How to block the new Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 devices
Microsoft started the rollout of the new Microsoft Edge web browser that is based on Chromium via Windows Update this week. It is pushed to Windows 10 devices using Windows Update, but only if the new Edge is not installed already on the device.
Administrators may block the deployment of the Chromium-based Edge browser by adding a value to the Registry. If set correctly, Windows Update will not download and install the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser on the system.Mr. Fox likes this. -
Total removal of any version would be ideal. -
And I can't see a valid point put in another Edge product. Won't be used. -

Does disabling automatic updates interfere with manual updates?
Since I have to use DCH drivers, is there anything that will interfere with the microsoft store DLing the nvidia control panel automatically? [Yes, I figured out manual install is still the same all by myself]
Is there anything to know about updating the ryzen 9's integrated graphics when needed? [I've not had to deal with dual graphics before, the GT72 had manual switching ...aka: never switching.]
On 1909 currently, is there a more follow-able guide with the 4-5+yo stuff not included and new changes included? [Yeah, I'll search, but since the question came to mind ...better to include now than edit it in later.] -

Before unzipping the ZIP file, right click on it, choose Properties, then check at the bottom, if it says this file came from the internet and might be blocked, click the Unblock button then hit Apply, then Ok. If you don't do this and extract it while it's blocked, then every single file will have a BLOCKED status. To Prevent this automatic blocking of downloaded files in Windows, be sure to check this guide: "Are you sure you want to run this file?" [Yes or No]Last edited: Jul 1, 2020Vasudev, jasonmbrown, steberg and 1 other person like this. -
OK, time to fix more Windows 10 aesthetic atrocities. Tired of that icky-looking trash with a light-colored inactive title bar? Yeah, I thought so. Me too... disgusting.
Grab this... Mr. Fox W10 Themes (Zipped Tweaks)
Unblock the downloaded file before extracting.
Follow the instructions in the zip file.
Enjoy!
Instructions for taking control of your ugly Windows 10 pastel puke bomb color theme.
- Copy "System Transparency" shortcut to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp
- Copy "transparency" folder to C:\
- Merge Black-Inactive-Tweak.reg (this will make your active and inactive window title bars black)
- Copy the content of "Documents" folder to you own Documents folder
- Copy the content of "Themes" folder to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes (You may need to take ownership of your Themes folder before copying the content to it.)
- While in the Themes folder double-click the windows.theme file
- Apply any of the included Theme Packs you wish. (You copied them to your Documents folder in step 4.)
- Select a different wallpaper if you wish and save that as a new theme of your own with the new wallpaper
- Launch the "System Transparency" shortcut you added to your StartUp folder
If you want your active and inactive window title bar color to match, but be a color other than black:
- Apply the accent color you prefer for the active title bar color
- Run regedit and go to: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM
- Find AccentColorInactive (create a new DWORD if you do not have it)
- Copy the Hexadecimal value of AccentColor and paste it into AccentColorInactive
