A cumulative update came through for me today, no issues so far, but I feel sorry for people who do multi-monitor gaming - in the release notes for KB3213986 it says as a known issue:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Users may experience delayed or clipped screens while running 3D rendering apps (such as games) on systems with more than one monitor. To work around this issue please consider the following options:
- Running the application in Windows mode (not full screen)
- Starting the application with only one monitor connected
I just don't think that an update should be released when they know a feature like that is ruined. The bit that annoyed me also was when they say one workaround is to run in "Windows Mode (not full screen)" - now my understanding is that Windows Store games run in Windows Mode by default, so I hope that this is not an indication that they're only bothered about optimising for Windows Store games & not other games from say Steam or Origin or elsewhere.Papusan likes this. - Running the application in Windows mode (not full screen)

If the update stops application data along with communication data it may make W10 palatable for allot of people. This could then protect work product and flow. This is a huge issue right now, at least for me, in using W10 on a main system. As it is W10 stands no chance but this is would be a big step forward.
I know also a few casual users because of the privacy issues will not due W10. You can avoid the other various social media apps, etc. but having the OS spy on your every aspect of usage and there is just no way to fully avoid the telemetry.
Edit; Do not get me wrong as there are quite a few other issues to contend with but this would at least alleviate the deal breaker for many.Last edited: Jan 12, 2017iunlock, toughasnails and Papusan like this. -

Woop woop, Windows 10 Gaming Mode is not limited just to Windows Store games, but apparently will be able to be used with any games from Steam, Origin, etc:
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/windows-10-to-get-a-game-mode-for-improved-performance.html
(Although, after a quick read of that article I'm not sure where the source is that states that all games are covered by the Gaming Mode.) -
Seems like M$ doesn't know what they want to do to make all users plunge into that deadly Winblows X Eternal Beta Vortex. First UWP only now Win32. LOL, Interesting, gotta see how that fares vs Win7/8.1 in gaming and benching, Lot of things come with the RS2 package but No one can forget the Anniversary update broke most stuff and again needs to patch it, So unless you are updating the OS continuously with all that telemetry crap show and extra unwanted bloat with that 6 month update system EOL Window, Sadly the LTSB won't get patched until Q4 2017,
So yearly update choice that you can chose without all this bling and babble vs daily update spyware infested mess, 2 options.
I'd choose to stay with 8.1 still been 2 years and doing great without a hitch until recent Nvidia driver borked the Fast boot in 8.1, Hiberfil.sys, I really wish they make these crap updates stop and add more user choices for the robust desktop OS environment like Win7 with new 2017 software optimizations. But I don't think we will get that anytime soon, What a sad time really.
Also to note -
Perf of RS2 Game mode vs RS1 which is very important vs Win7/8.1Last edited: Jan 14, 2017iunlock likes this. -

Yeah, I'm looking forward to benchmarking & gaming comparisons between Win10 Gaming Mode vs Win7/8.1. You talk about the Anniversary Update breaking most stuff - I know I'm only one user, but I've never had any issues with Win10 breaking anything, it's worked really well so far. (On two systems, my laptop & desktop (can be seen in signature)). -

I can report I was one of those that did the Windows 10 upgrade during that time windows *pun* when it was offered and I installed it on a Dell 1525 Windows 10 Pro and did my disable all the junk and so far all I had to do was install the older video to get it to work and it's running just fine. I am slowing installing my programs back onto to see how it runs. All I did to activate was use my Product Key that I registered with for the Upgrade after a Clean install and went online and activated it and and that was all to get my Free Windows 10 Pro install. It might not be the same for later users that tried to but for me I get the digital activation privilege or something to that effect is what it says when I activate it-I don't think they limit to how many you can install it on as long as it is your laptop or desktop. Saw no adware/malware or spyware but this is because I did a hosts edit so that any telemetry was disable right off the bat beyond the severe disable all the options to report back and Cortana report back options where disabled. So you have to do some digging on Clean install to stop all those reports and connections to get what you want but once I did that is runs without problems. Once I get the laptop finished then the Desktop will be next but I did download all the Windows 10 Pro drivers from the board site ahead of time. -

From the article, "The layout for this is promising (pictured above) and should immediately provide greater visibility and control over your data. Furthermore Microsoft pledges to continue adding new functionality and categories over time"
Maybe better or more presise Telemetry?
Only BS as always!!
"This means Microsoft recognises users’ need for control but the company continues to treat mainstream Windows 10 Home users as guinea pigs for the stability of new updates before they are provided to big business. That needs to stop and users of all versions deserve the right to have control over their PCs, should they want it"

It would have been nice for props to be given to the community that since before day one advised of all these issues. Recognition of at least the battles fought up to now. M$ did not bend over easily by any means. How many consumer broken machines or other issues lie by the wayside.
it does irk me just a bit that we are being summarily dismissed but maybe the path ahead is more toward a proper OS. At this late point the W10 mobile version may not be savable. What could have been is just about a long gone memory.
My other issue is since this is a continuing developing service what stops them from going back on their word and re-instituting all the corrected repairs. This goes back to trusting them and without a formal admission the we were essential right since day one can we trust them and their reasoning for the fix(s)? I am just a bit leery to say the least. -

Apparently future Windows updates will bring the same user interface accross all devices: phone/Xbox/PC. I'm not sure how that's gonna work out, afterall aren't there differences between UI's for phones & PC's due to the fact that screen size and method of user interaction dictates the optimum type of UI, and phones & PC's are obviously at either ends of those poles! Here's the link to the article: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Window...-between-Windows-PCs-and-phones.192166.0.html

Microsoft's latest Windows 10 ad annoys Chrome users with taskbar pop-ups
Ads on the Windows 10 taskbar aren't just for Microsoft Edge anymore.

" The impact on you at home: If you want to make sure you don’t get pop-up ads on your taskbar you can turn them off. Open the Settings app and go to System > Notifications & Actions. On this screen under “Notifications” turn off Get tips, stricks, and suggestions as you use Windows. That’s not the only way Microsoft can advertise to you. It's sending data to Microsoft, the user may not be aware that this data is being collected and sent. Little Snitch does what it says and snitches out apps sending data in the background.
Edit: RDP shouldn't have to send data to Microsoft when your connecting to a local machine with RDP enabled so this is clearly debug data rather then data required to use the app."

I call BS... scammers... losers... the Redmond Mafia are NOT our friends. I'm convinced they couldn't/wouldn't do anything well if their lives depended on it. They are hell bent on being retarded.
Beware of Greeks bearing gifts Geeks bearing GIFs.
And, Brother @Papusan, the million dollar question is... drum roll please...
" I should actually care about UWA games because... um... uh... why?" Bueller... Bueller... Bueller...
@D2 Ultima might know why. Maybe.
Micro$loth think we are stupid. Sadly, some are. It's getting harder to detect the urine they put in their Kool-Aid because of gradual desensitization. I think @hmscott shares similar contempt for the filth coming our way from the Digi-Nazis.Last edited: Jan 26, 2017 -
I have said it before... Only a new trick from the Redmond headquarter to push people to opt for Windoze X and the main goal in the end is "Windoze Store"!! A speed boost like pure snake oil. I want speed boost 24/7 in everything I do with the hardware and not this ****y!!
-
The only way they can seem successful on the surface is by fabricating a hostile environment where stuff that doesn't descend from the "Redmond Throne" and contribute to their cash-cow goddess is by artificially crippling the "traditional" software in order to make their faithful herd of sheeple believe Universal Windoze crApps are something special. By fabricating the story and manipulating the results, they effectively demonstrate they are masters of deception and truly are legends in their own minds.
Updates are the official WHQL Trojan deployments.
The best approach is to use a third-party utility to disable the ability for Windows Update Service to even run, then edit the hosts file to cut off any and all forms of communication with Micro$loth.Last edited: Jan 26, 2017Ashtrix, Raiderman, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
Literally every move they make, every step they take... everything revolves around a scam to generate a renewable stream of cash to feed their bloated machine and its digital eating disorder. They want to slowly bleed us dry over time with pay-to-play WHQL certified malware as a service ponzi schemes. And, the world is rife with dumb-dumbs that can't do basic math to figure out a slow cash leak costs them more over time. Today it's unwanted spam and a barrage of offers for in-game purchases and "season pass" bull-hockey. Tomorrow it will be pay to calculate formulas in Excel and pay to print in Word. We (we as in the collective of consumer retards... hopefully not many of us) will have only ourselves to blame for making their model work instead of forcing it to fail and ramming it up their corporate posterior orifice.Last edited: Jan 26, 2017

I've yet to see a reason why we should care about UWP... as far as I'm concerned it's worse than U-Play, and I consider U-Play so bad that I didn't take a single free game Ubicrap gave out in 2016 because it required me to actually log into U-Play.
-
-
I take it seriously, but cannot help but laugh my "posterior orifice" off.
-
Thank you for saying so. We have to make this stuff funny in order to not get extremely bummed out or pissed off about the sad predicament we often find ourselves in.
Yup. As serious as a heart attack. While I strive for a level of humor, (a merry heart doeth good like a medicine and all that,) the words are strategically selected to express the level of contempt I wish to convey while simultaneously creating a graphic mental picture that people reading it -- at least those that are like-minded -- can get a few chuckles from.
I laugh at some of these things as I am typing them. There are many times that the right choice of words can be more effective than being vulgar or using profanity. -

I don't think anyone with the slightest knowledge on how computers work expected this to be any good, or to do anything at all really. The only thing that you can do with Windows 10 is turn off all the cr.p that's running in background, set the game's priority to high and hope that Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry won't start running in background at the same priority level or an office 365 advert that will kick you out of fullscreen during your gameplay.TBoneSan, hmscott, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -

Speaking of Telemetry, in O&O Shutup 10, there is an option to disable Telemetry 1, 2, and 3
now after the latest updates, everytime I reboot and relaunch O&O ShutUp10, it alerts me that Telemetry 1 is enabled, do I want to disable it again!
Great job Micro$h4ft! keeping hacking us!

Next level of the cancer from the Redmond Morons will be as follow... Every settings you have done to disable the unwanted trash will be zeroed out every time the Windoze maintenance start up. Wait and see
You will need to have software running in the background 24/7/365 to change the settings back. Aka wasted processor cycles
