Good grief...Cortana, Tobiii Eye Tracking etc....what's next? Chip implants? Grrrr...

As that saying goes...."If you want to hide something, hide it in plain sight."

In this case...M$ and other Commies making things flashy, cool and convenient to distract the sheeps, while sucking them dry of all their freedom, security and privacy.

It's unbelievable that people are so ignorant to what is right in front of their eyes. Oh wait, but they (M$) wouldn't ever do such a thing right?

How on earth did we ever survive without the Redmond Mafia providing our "protection" from... um, uh... protection... yeah, that's the ticket. Bada-boom, bada-bing.

Praises be to Lord Micro$loth, whose glorious spyware hath no stench, and may the sweetness of thine pastel-colored digi-Nazi cartoon Kool-Aid endure forever and ever, amen.

An OS is only as safe as the user is. There is no way to eliminate stupidity, and the harder they try the worse it will become. It's like going outside with a fly swatter on a mission to rid the world of flies. I quit using Windows Updates several years ago. I only allow what I want to allow. I don't even use antivirus software any more. Is there a risk? Of course. Life is full of risks, but I don't want risk avoidance to be my primary focus. Being smart and the avoidance of stupid is the best plan of action. I also have a disaster mitigation plan. I like to call it Windows 7, but it's a little more sophisticated than that.

Unfortunately, Windoze OS X isn't new. It's been around a good while now and they still don't know how to do things right. And, because the plan is "Windows as a service" it will most likely never mature enough to be viewed as great like Windows 7. But, they will certainly be justified to use the volatility and perpetual flux of their latest abortion as an excuse for lameness.

The cancer has passed the metastasis state, Welp !!

The Winblows as a service is really working, I mean all the new laptops that are shipping with that cancer OS Home (malware) edition has ramped up the count, People are just focused on the "latest is greatest bandwagon", they can't backtrack anymore even if they realize it some will compromise and use it which is 99%, why ? Intel's plan has been successful too so far Because the BGA cancer is fully rampant across the NB market scene as we already saw the decline in the PC market but the jokebook market is blooming, people love "thin and light" !! which translates to crowd falling for the corporate fallacies, office 365 is another seed of corruption, 2020 and 23 will mark the demise of true "PC - Personal Computer" with the end of Win7 and 8.1 support. With the Kaby debut and the icing on the cake as that Optane, more will be ready to jump. I think the DT market sees that Win7 market share and Enterprise scene, rest end users are already inside this blackhole -> Most of Kool-aid crowd.

I don't think the M$ will consider a proper RTM release in the future, unless there's some serious backlash in some or other-way which I don't think so because they have already played their game of transitioning the whole Personal Assistant / VR era pushed with an inbuilt surveillance / spyware mechanisms in that Orwellian OS & their draconian UEFI policies. Plus the LTSB card they pulled.

Windows was a real OS that I had fun in this whole period of computing but sadly we have to castrate so much of the junk off that to make it proper which gets hectic with annual refresh since they close those good things with the OS and make it a total DumbOS (Like before the 1511 TH2 XBox live could have been removed now only metro app, it will Blackscreen and now the 1607 has that cortana implemented in such a way that if one removes it it removes the search from the crap tile UI of Start, We are still golden because no one uses that crap, instead we have the Classic Shell or other alternatives & not to mention the deletion of Personalization panel, still we have the Winaero's App for that, Also the first gimp - Aero to favor the Jokebooks which can't handle the transparency causing the battery B$ load, we got alternative as well lol.) hope the fun stays intact despite of this genocide.

I hate to see so much negativity but seems like for us people who are used to the good-ol ways of using a computer see it that way no matter what. One more thing is there that could keep us afloat this sinking ship - Vulkan, It should be a hero as the way I see it now, but only a few developers have chosen to implement it (the Amazing DOOM - GOTY for me) rest are just lazy crapola console gimped pc ports with PR stunts.

Thanks for the links, bro. Yup, a statistically irrelevant change for Windows 7. What that tells me is things look promising for a continued lack of adoption. Let's hope so. I want them to continue to fail real hard. They are unworthy of success since all they offer is a bloated trash OS, laden with malware and PUPs.

They have failed to meet every goal they have set so far. May the trend continue. Wonder what kind of excuses and gimmick they'll use next time?

Pretty much. If we did not count new PC sales, it might even be a decrease since August. I'm not a gambler, but if I were I would bet the tiny increase for Windows 10 is mostly represented by new PC sales where the buyer is free to choose whatever they want as long as it's Windoze OS X. I'd speculate the increase for Apple OS X represents the same (new sales) and probably a portion of those were former Windows 7 users that don't want to drink the Kool-Aid being served by the Redmond Mafia. In other words, instead of buying a Windows OS X turdbook they bought a Apple OS X turdbook. I suppose if you're going to buy an anemic piece of garbage it doesn't matter what OS it has on it, and it may as well be made with an aluminum chassis if it is going to be thin and disposable BGA garbage. At least it won't be quite as fragile. If it's for email and web surfing, so who gives a rat, right? Might have just a little something to do with what their preppy/yuppy friends on Facebook tell them to do as well.

Speaking of email and web surfing, I'd venture a guess that the big jump in "Unknown" is Chromebook. Why waste a ton of money on an overpriced Surface or MacBook if that's all you plan to do? I know that I sure as heck wouldn't.

I know that when you look at the market right now there are some attractive Chromebook options for certain market segments. But only talking about the OS software itself, Android laptops/convertibles just make way more sense than Chrome OS. Set the browser to request desktop web pages by default and you get basically everything Chromebooks offer.

You know, if I am not going to care about performance and just need an appliance for web access, that's all I would buy now is a super cheap Android or Chromebook. I've got a Kindle Fire that I keep next to my recliner to grab for a quick poke on the web when I don't have my monsterbook in my lap, and that's more than adequate... for less than $100. To me that's just smart. And, I know that there are LOTS of people that don't need anything more than that. I don't like touch or tablet form factor even a little bit, but for something dirt cheap that I simply can toss in the trash and buy a replacement that costs little more than 2 or 3 days worth of "lunch money" when it stops working I am not going to squabble over that part. Now that the Fire is rooted with no Amazon "offers" and Google Play Store, it is no longer an obnoxious device to use. More pleasant to use than most smartphones due to the much larger screen.

Lovely. If you have Win Crap X on your machine... Be sure to always have backup solution. A Android phone, tablet or another PC WITHOUT Win crap X, LOL

"The impact on you at home: If you’re having problems connecting to the Internet on your Windows 10 PC then it’s probably little comfort that a fix is available. You need a functioning Internet connection to get the new update, after all. If you can’t get online your best bet is to download KB3206632 from Microsoft’s Update Catalog on another PC—an Android phone or tablet will also do in a pinch. Then load the update onto your PC via USB and run it. Just make sure you download the correct update for your device based on whether you have the 32- or 64-bit version of Windows 10." What with an Windows phone?:D

No one will ever read it or even care about anything regarding the Automatic Updates/Upgrades downgrade to Win10. People just stopped thinking too busy with the Kool-Aid. Also M$ is successful in destroying the old machines which were running Windows7 and up for the free destruction update to WinblowsX.

At least when you leave pages / uninstall apps you can stop further information and privacy leakage from their use.

The OS is always there, always listening, always reporting on a regular basis, and ready to take "forced update" snoops with new instructions.

I don't use Facebook, I haven't been a social media tool at any point - been on the internet long enough to know many decades ago about the information leakage - for professional reasons.

Some people are just now waking up to the fact that the information is collected and out there for *any* future mis-use.

    I'm becoming scared of Facebook.
    https://np.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/5k4dn8/im_becoming_scared_of_facebook/

"Has anyone else noticed, in the last few months especially, a huge uptick in Facebook's ability to know everything about you?

Facebook is sending me reminders about people I've snapchatted but not spoken to on Facebook yet.

Facebook is advertising products to me based on conversations I've had in bars or over my microphone while using Curse at home. Things I've never mentioned or even searched for on my phone, Facebook knows about.

Every aspect of my life that I have kept disconnected from the internet and social media, Facebook knows about. I don't want to say that Facebook is recording our phone microphones at all time, but how else could they know about things that I have kept very personal and never even mentioned online?

Even for those things I do search online - Facebook knows. I can do a google search for a service using Chrome, open Facebook, and the advertisement for that service is there. It's like they are reading all input and output from my phone.

I guess I agreed to it by accepting their TOS, but isn't this a bit ridiculous? They shouldn't be profiling their users to the extent they are.

There's no way to keep anything private anymore. Facebook can "hear" conversations that it was never meant to. I don't want to delete it because I do use it fairly frequently to check in on people, but it's becoming less and less worth the threat to my privacy.

EDIT: Although it's anecdotal, I feel it's worth mentioning that my friends have been making the same complaints lately, but in regard to the text messages they are sending. I know the subjects of my texts have been appearing in Facebook ads and notifications as well. It's just not right."

At least when you leave pages / uninstall apps you can stop the privacy leakage from scraped shared information, except for persistent data already collected from leaks we've made and continue to make.

Windows 10 Privacy, "it's nothing to worry about"...time changes all things.

Hiding your tracks from Trump: Online privacy worries heat up

In the face of a new administration, activists and regular people alike embrace tools for keeping their browsing habits and communications private.
    https://www.cnet.com/au/news/internet-privacy-fear-trump-administration-surveillance/

" What protects most of us are just subjective norms," Galperin said. "The government didn't individually target people [with surveillance] because of subjective norms, but those change over time."

"There's something about a Donald Trump administration in charge of the US National Security Agency that has folks taking government surveillance very seriously.

Encrypted email provider ProtonMail and encrypted chat service Signal saw a spike in new users after the election. What's more, privacy advocates say they're hearing from more people who are interested in covering up their tracks online.

Eva Galperin, a global policy analyst at the privacy-oriented Electronic Frontier Foundation, said she's received more requests for trainings than usual since the election. Concerned internet users include journalists and activists, Galperin said. Driving these groups' fears is uncertainty over how an unpredictable Trump administration will handle its profound surveillance power."

The first time I saw that thought on Android, I thought hmmm, under Windows what apps would I put in there to "accelerate" them. Benchmarks for sure, games yup, everything else - naturally :)

Making all apps "gaming" apps so I can get maximum performance with everything - anything to help throttle background random interference from "MS" Spying / Data Collection / "privacy sampling to help make a better Windows" BS.

Nice, love the quote on the developers site:

"The real danger is the gradual erosion of individual liberties through automation, integration, and interconnection of many small, separate record-keeping systems, each of which alone may seem innocuous, even benevolent, and wholly justifiable."
    - Anonymous, U. S. Privacy Study Commission, 1977"

I recall reading things like that back when I became aware, small notifications of the impending doom. There were lots of warning signs. It happened slowly over 40 years. It's like watching a train crash in slow motion, one that quietly keeps on going with few noticing until it is too late, as the damage approaches and engulfs them too.

Thanks man, nice new tool :)

"Don't want Windows spying on your every move? Don't feel like spending hours messing with privacy settings that ultimately still result in data collection? Think your private information belongs to you and no one else? Or maybe you just want a faster PC and don't like all the new "features" Windows has to offer.

We think so too, so we made Blackbird V6" [IMG]

"Game mode" LOL another Buzzword fool-o-koolaid magnetic trick for the sheeple. I bet that trash will be only exclusive for the UWP dustbin :D

    Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
    The frumious Windows 10 Upgrade!

    Jabberwocky
    BY LEWIS CARROLL

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
    All mimsy were the borogoves,
    And the mome raths outgrabe.

    “Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
    The frumious Bandersnatch!”

    He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
    And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
    And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
    The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
    He went galumphing back.

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
    O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
    He chortled in his joy.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
    All mimsy were the borogoves,
    And the mome raths outgrabe.

Do not bully everyone's friend "The Redmond Morons best OS ever". They try as best they can to offer you the best, most secure OS in history!! The best part is the Telemetry section for your own Safety. In addition, you get also nice pastel colored small "free" tile apps. What more do you want? Staph !! Jump on, my friend, HaHa

Bloody hell, wish I had known this was still the case because I was given a Windows 7 Pro key free when I bought my 2920XM CPU off ebay - I would have used that key to install Windows 10 on my desktop, as it stands I ended up paying for a 'fully' legitimate Windows 10 copy through Amazon!

Windows 10 Game Mode sounds interesting, it would be kind of funny if Game Mode enables better gaming & benchmarking performance than Windows 7 for some of the extreme Windows 7 fans! I'll be surprised if it's better though.

Don't expect a big gain. The so-called Game mode should have been the normal behavior on this pastel colored trash - Aka *if* we can get a bit better performance.

True, unless they strip back the activity of the OS even more during gaming than what is present during Windows 7, then it might be better, we'll see.

Yep. Verified it last week. :)

Used a couple of my older W7/81 Pro Keys to "upgrade" some W10 Home systems.
Though need a couple of simple edits in notepad to prevent embedded key presets.

Yes, this was a sneaky move by Microsoft to get unsuspecting users to accidentally upgrade to Windows 10, and as a result in this one case it destroyed this guy's exam opportunities. It was low!

Microsoft wants as many users on Windows 10 as possible so I have my doubts they will ever take the free offer away for legit owners of Windows 7/8.

Some that said that Windoze X is faster in everything?
"If you encrypt the hard drive of a computer running Windows 7, and then on the same computer running Windows 10, you will notice that the encryption process is faster on Windows 7"

Not all that glitters is gold :)
"The extra time it takes to encrypt drives using Bitlocker on Windows 10 may be an issue however for system administrators who run the operation regularly on company devices"

Edit: Microsoft broke search in Windoze 10 X... :D "Reports about search stopping to work completely on Windows 10 devices started to fill the usual chat rooms with *frustrated and angry* users of the operating system" And like this will the days go o_O
