And uh well alright.
Very stable.
EDIT: And I hate how it's all like "Even better use a Microsoft account" still. Even with the stupid ads for something you still pay for. Come on Microsoft...
EDIT2: And of course, they hold you hostage to customise anything until you activate. This is just stupid, Microsoft.Last edited: Jun 16, 2021 -

First Windows 11 Benchmarks Reveal The Surprising State Of Microsoft’s Next OS hothardware.com | today
Microsoft will officially unveil the next generation of Windows on June 24th, but the company's plans prematurely leaked yesterday. We were already relatively confident that the new operating system from Redmond would be called Windows 11, but an early ISO leaked confirming the name and a lot more.

Edit: The installation of the abortion is nearing completion. The fact that moving the W11 install.wim to the extracted W10 media to replace the original W10 install.wim works suggests there are some sort of configuration files in the W11 installation media that need to be deleted or modded. Probably something similar to deleting the ei.cfg file for W7 or the Setup.cfg file needing to be modded on NVIDIA drivers to circumvent mod-blocking signature-checking cancer feces. Somebody that cares more than I do will probably figure that out.
EDIT 2: In-place upgrade failed. Let me find my sledgehammer. Even if it sucks exactly as I expect, I will decide if it installs, not the Redmond Retards.

So it seems that they took out small taskbar button choice in this ISO. You can hide it, but that's about it for more screen estate. This is very... touch focused... I'm not prodding a computer screen, eugh.
I'm surprised I can really run it in a virtual environment,
unfortunately installing it on my Precision isn't an option. I don't think I can run it in my Zbook at all due to the M2000M so as someone said about MXM upgrading its out of the question. Still fine enough for now because of the support for 10 until 2025. -
I despise the UI. Even dark mode is crap. StartIsBack does not work yet, so you are stuck with the sucky Micro$lop Start Menu. I hate the rounded corners and how everything is spaced further apart, even in Windows Explorer windows. Very inefficient and bloated feeling. Icons are ugly cartoon crap.
And, performance shows zero evidence of improvement. Basically unchanged and within a normal margin of error.
If I have to find something nice to say, then I will say that it's nice that, so far, CPU performance has not been adversely affected. I haven't checked graphics performance. Since this is my crash dummy OS, it's not set up for benching and I don't really care unless graphics performance shows meaningful improvement in benchmark scores. I do not anticipate that it will.
Verdict: No benefit. Nothing. Just a downgrade in aesthetic elements of the UI.

Tested with O&O Shutup and WPD? I expect WUB will work as usual.
Btw. I don't think I could handle the new ugly icons. Made by kids for kids.

All of it is rather ugly. I do not like the icons, but I do not like other things equally as much as I dislike the icons... such as the rounded corners and wasted space. Very tacky tablet-like trash for children.
I use detailed view by default and each line takes about as much as as two lines used to in detailed view. That is one of the things I hate most.
It is really sad to think some people actually consider it to be nice. Even sadder that it was made this way intentionally... really messed up.Last edited: Jun 16, 2021 -
I am using Legacy mode in the BIOS, no Secure Boot possible, TPM disabled in BIOS and Intel ME disabled in BIOS.

Buggy like the last two releases. Desktop and Explorer windows still have refresh issues, which is extremely annoying and dissatisfying. Sometimes the Settings app will not stay open.
I didn't expect it to be any good, but I did expect them to focus on fixing basic functionality issues with their broken pile of dung before moving on to making it uglier and less functional. -
Why I'm Not Excited About Windows 11 pcmag.com
Rounded corners? Centered Start button? Tiny taskbar icons? No, thank you.
Innovation or Imitation?
I guess the theme with both of these changes is this: Why does Microsoft feel the need to rip off design ideas from the competition? Why can’t it maintain its own identity or come up with its own innovations? Perhaps the answer is that software styles are like musical styles—one artist innovates and many emulate. It’s not as though the other OSes never took anything from Windows. That said, if macOS is Soft Jazz, why does Windows also need to be Soft Jazz? Why can’t it be heavy metal or hip-hop?
I don’t care about rounded corners. I don’t want the Start button in the middle of the screen. I like the way the Windows 10 Taskbar is highly functional and informative, far more so than Apple’s macOS Dock—from which the leaked Windows 11 design seems to draw inspiration.
Microsoft has come a long way toward restoring user happiness with Windows 10 following the Windows 8 fiasco. Let’s hope Windows 11 doesn’t take us back to those dark days. If not, it appears that Windows 10 will be supported through 2025, so we have a few good years left.
Yep, there you have it. Win 10 is most likely the way to go. Thanks god its supported through 2025. Even better... Win 10 2019 Ent LTSC expire 2029Last edited: Jun 17, 2021 -

If its full EFI and BGA desktops/laptop I think its better to invest in services like GaaS or similar since we can use older LGA or sub 400$ BGA which seems wiser option and most money can go to better Wifi.
I don't think Agile SW Development can be seen as downfall since people's taste vary instantly once they see better UI or graphics and it makes sense to switch to newer "so-called" better UI. Agile simply allows quick fixes or new features to be added w/o starting from scratch.
Only UWP I use is Intel command center and most of the other UWP have been replaced with Win32/64 which runs much better.
The UI and icon placement will take a longer time to get used to since I have to re-train the muscle memory.Normimb, Ashtrix, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
Right click on This PC and selecting Properties seems to return a blank page in Settings. There is no convenient way to access Advanced System Properties, through the Settings App, or directly the old and better way. They really started dumbing down the OS with 20H2 and it seems to be trending in a very nasty direction. It should not be difficult to access advanced system configuration options, but it appears the Redmond Reprobrates do not want people to have that ability. I also do not see a way to immediately access the console for all Administrative Tool at once. Bastards.
If I right-click This PC and choose Properties, I get this...
I can get to it this way, but it seems to be the only way.
I am, and will continue to be, the god of my computer. If and when I can't because their product is broken or crippled, Windows will go away. All things are my decisions whether directly or indirectly. None are theirs unless I agree and chose to comply as a matter of personal choice, and because doing so is to my benefit and according to my judgment. What they deem best and what they want is absolutely irrelevant to me. If, by coincidence we agree, it is a positive reflection on them. If I do not agree, it is a negative reflection on them. I have spoken.

Putting it in VirtualBox wasn't a great idea.

Yes, it really sucks that Task Manager is no longer quick and easy to access from the Taskbar.
I think I will fart around with this piece of digital feces for another day or two to confirm all of its problems and shortcomings, then restore my Macrium Reflect image. After it goes RTM and StartIsBack has been updated so I can have a functional and aesthetically pleasing Start menu I may revisit it down the road to see how much stuff they left broken after the official release. -
Don't you just love it when they remove useful things and claim it is better?
@Spartan@HIDevolution - any insight into this nonsense?
Edit: I believe in mentioning things when I have something nice to say in the same way that I am not bashful about brutally identifying what I do not like.
The Windows 11 system sounds are much nicer than they ever have been in the past. They did nicely on that. I usually disable Windows sounds because I find them annoying, but I have not because they are pleasant and I like them.Last edited: Jun 17, 2021 -
But they finally ditched the ugly, useless, abominable animated startmenu squares, that's some advancement, took only 5 years (8 years or so w8 included) for them to realize!
First impressions after reading (no testing): will stay on w10 ltsc for a long, long time, like I comfortably stayed on w8.1 (open shell, zero apps, zero telemetry etc) as a detached observer to the unfolding w10 demented circus.
Thanks for all the w11 reports and testing, great information. -
Windows 11 LTSC Enterprise spotted in the 22000 deskmodder.de June 17, 2021 2:58
The fact that Microsoft is now really switching to Windows 11 may have come as a surprise to some. Due to the 21996.1, only mainly optical changes have so far come to light.
So, contrary to what I suspected in one of the last posts , there will be a Windows 11 LTSC based on the Cobalt (developer name) and not based on the Vibranium (Windows 10 2004 to 21H1). If you take a closer look at the picture, you will still see Windows 10 versions.
It seems the last real LTSC will still be the 2019 version built on Win 10 - 1809. This head in to wrong direction.Last edited: Jun 17, 2021 -

Windows 11 runs better & faster on old or low-spec devices windowsreport.com
Windows 11 seems to perform better than its predecessor
This is more than normal news, considering that a company as big and tech-savvy as Microsoft wouldn’t just invest into visual upgrades for an operating system as big as theirs.
So the fact that Windows 11 actually performs better than the previous OS shouldn’t come as such a shock to us.

Windows 11 Sounds
1) Download the ZIP File
2) Make sure to right-click on the file you just downloaded, go to Properties, then hit Unblock from the bottom right as it may be blocked since it was downloaded from the internet, if you don't do this before you extract it, then all the files that you extract will have a BLOCKED status.
To prevent this automatic blocking of files in the future so you don't have to go unblocking every file you download to ensure it runs properly, check the guide in this thread:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/are-you-sure-you-want-to-run-this-file-yes-or-no.825668/
3) Take ownership of the folder C:\Windows\Media (change it to the Everyone user group)
4) In the main properties Windows of that folder, under the Security Tab, click EDIT, then also add the Everyone Group there and grant them full privileges
5) Delete the folder
6) Replace it with the folder you just downloadedLast edited: Jun 18, 2021Normimb, vIkInG_w0w, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
OK. It "seems" like some people are nice that are really wicked. Sometimes an email written in all capital letters makes it seem the sender is angry when they are not. It "feels" like you are going really fast in a go-kart running 40 MPH because you're sitting 2 inches from the pavement. The reality is, you're going slow.
What is missing here is the proof. I will believe that when I see a side-by-side comparison like I did when Windows 10 was released (see below). The Kool-Aid drinking Windoze 10 fanboys were chirping all sorts of foolish drivel about it being faster when the actual numbers simply did not support their anecdotal baloney. So, yeah... I don't believe it. When you add bloat, it slows things down no matter what it "feels" like to an excited fanboy. A clean install of any OS always feels crisp, but "feel" is not a measurement. Show me the numbers.

how is this faring now as windows 10 is getting quite stable in gaming (better results in games with dx 11 and 12) the only thing that holding me making the switch is look and feel and even slowness when opening folders with many items in it when using thumbnails.

No performance benefit. Inferior to LTSC due to crippled physics and combined test results, but graphics performance essentially identical (within a normal margin of error). Only look at the graphics score here, because LTSC stomps the life out of newer versions of W10 on the CPU side of things. Absolutely nothing to see, talk or write home about.
We have twin sisters. One has blue eyes and the other has green. Otherwise, they look and act exactly the same. You have to look at the color of their eyes to know if it is Sally or Sue.

@Mr. Fox Didn't expect such a simple thing as Windows sounds to make such a difference but the new Windows 11 Windows sounds are so subtle and nice compared to the annoying Windows 10 ones, especially that notification sound (the one which come on for example when something requires a UAC prompt)

Windows 11 will let you wake your device just by touching it windowslatest - June 18, 2021
Instead of reaching for your power button every time you want to wake up a Windows device, you can soon simply tap the screen a few times instead.
Microsoft add in new fantastic features for their desktop OS... With Windows 11, Microsoft is introducing support for “Wake on Touch”, a feature that was previously offered on Windows Phones.
Yeah, they create the OS around own hardware in same way as Apple. I wonder when they'll start offer Windows phones again.... This new OS smells more as a OS for phones, tablets and small portable computer for on the go.
As to which PCs specifically will support it that’s less clear, but it’s possible that it will require special sensors, which hopefully means most Surface products and upcoming devices will support it, but that remains to be seen.Normimb, etern4l and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

Isn't it so cute that these dumb dumbs assume everyone's going to have some pathetic touchscreen piece of crap? It certainly shows in the way they develop an operating system. Everything is geared for the lowest common denominator.Last edited: Jun 17, 2021Normimb, Ashtrix, Clamibot and 1 other person like this. -

Tap the screen is new isn't it? As for the old I was helping someone via phone with a problem back in Win95 and started with the usual first step; a reboot. I explained how to turn the computer off, told her to wait 30 seconds, then restart. The commuter wouldn't start. We segued into some checks for that but I decided I would just drive over and fix it. When I got there I told her to start it up and she began vigorously wiggling the mouse back and forth...

That is a very funny story and your account of it created a vivid mental picture for me. It does not surprise even a little bit. In fact, that kind of innocent ignorance is pretty common. It would be hard not to laugh, but I would try to avoid it because it would be very embarrassing to look so foolish. -

So, is Redmont going back to the paid upgrade model? Thar would be an indication they might have stopped pursuing Google down the privacy invasion path. But then again, the reports of local account removal suggest otherwise.
I wonder if the secrecy around the new features is necessary. Clearly a marketing gimmick, since it's not like they have to worry about competition in the Windows OS space! A more cynical interpretation would be that that aren't really any new features worth talking aboutLast edited: Jun 18, 2021Normimb, Clamibot, Mr. Fox and 1 other person like this. -

Doesn't matter, it's all speculation. Other sources expect free upgrade from all versions of Windows, including 7&8. Edited my post a little. If it's a "free" upgrade (a. k. a. CRAAP - ConsumeR-As-A-Product), then I'm not holding my hopes up too high for this.
