    Guys,

Windows 7 RC has been released, for all of those interested:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx

Happy downloading...and see ya all here tomorrow!

    Edit:

Please use IE either 7 or 8 for the download, probably any other browser will stay on a loop of verification.

Update, confirmed on Opera and FF, download is possible.

    Regards,

Note they are trying to prevent server downtime by saying "No Rush" and telling how keys wont be limited and the download available until july.

Im starting myne now anyways. Im not finished my laptop review yet so would be nice to get a little benching on 7 before i call it finished.

im sure the majority of the load already got it via alternate means throughout the week so maybe it wont be too bad after this first initial spike.

That said anybody have like a "win 7 feature guide" or "whats changed" kinda documentation they can link me?

I played with win 7 some but it seemed just like vista with the exception of a few odd things like how the task bar worked. Id love to read the major changes and how to properly use them.

The title should include ".... RC...." somewhere, not that I didn't know what the OP meant but someone else might get a premature excitement. :)

Confirmed: it's down again. It hopefully should be live again shortly - I'm glad I'm downloading both x86 and x64 versions using the download manager. :)

Edit: The link is back up again!

I just got in (via Firefox) and started my download of the 64-bit release candidate. :D

Currently coming in at about 350KB/s, estimated 2 and a half hours until completion.

Hey If I planning on buying a new laptop soon and then Using windows 7 on it... does it matter if I get the normal 64 bit or the ultimate... Will it change my performance (should I get ultimate?)

If there is a difference in performance, it will be negligible. The only differences that even have a chance of affecting it are the extra features present in Ultimate, which, if anything, will cause slowdown. But like I said, it will be negligible, maybe a second or two in booting up and shutting down.

Well, as far as I know, each version upwards unlocks stuff the lower ones don't have. As for the bit Version, I'm not sure if it is the same as always, with 32 bit Windows will only recognize b/w 3-3.5gb of ram, 64 bit should recognize 4gb and up.

I got both 32 and 64-bit downloading. I have 3 different computers I will be running these on. My 64-bit is downloading around 250-400 KB/sec, 32-bit is downloading around 100 KB/sec.

For those of you who got the MD5 mismatch error thing in Firefox like I did, disable the Java plugin and download it via FF download manager or downthemall

My 32-bit download was super slow to start, its now up over 500 KB/sec, but only 32% done. 64-bit is around 33% and 100 KB/sec, which I would expect. more people will want 64 I would think.

My speeds are all over the place, anywhere from 100KB/Sec to 1.5MB/Sec and changes every second. 27% done now.

Anyone know if the download manager checks the integrity of the downloaded iso?

My speed has stayed between 600 KB and 1 MB, and doesn't seem to be slowing down even though I'm up to 40%. I'm really impressed with how smoothly the download is going--I expected it to take hours with so many people trying to get it at once.

Mine just finished, it was way faster than Build 7000. And I noticed when it got to 99% complete the download manager ran an integrity check so I guess it does check it.
