Can I do anything to speed this thing up or at least make sure it doesn't just hang up halfway through?

Finally!!Waiting for the full version.

Pulling in 900kbps using firefox DL manager (the MS download manager just wasn't working for me.) Man I love my campus's internet. Turn off your wireless and connect with a hardwire and you're practically connected to the backbone. (or so it would seem sometimes.)

Mine are at 77% and 44%. Bed time, they should be done tomorrow. Then the DVDs can sit and wait for me to install this weekend.
-
woot, ~800kb/s for me, I'll probably set auto-shutdown for about a hour and take a look at it in the morning. Doubt I'll get to mess around with it until after class, else I won't be able to take notes in class lol.

This is great news... Just a quickie... Does the 64 bit version have the x86 folder like Vista ?
-
w00t! Installed and got it running on my MacBook! bammff
-
does this have a difference form the 7100 downloaded last april 25....????
mine says :build 7106.0.x86fre.winmain..090408-1623 -
downloading now..
-
I just did a clean install and so far it's awesome, much snappier than Vista on this machine.
Only thing is that I heard it expires in June 2010 but mine, after I activated with a specific RC key, it's only good till March 1st, 2010. -

FREE Windows 7 Operating System Release Candidate (RC) Download from Microsoft, May. 5 12 AM
im downloading too...3.05gb -
For anyone interested, Avira AntiVir is working great in 7 RC. -
-
Hey I was also wondering if I could download the .iso of windows 7 onto multiple cds. All I have are 700mb cds. Will it just put it onto seperate cds?
Or do I need to go get some blank dvds -
get some dvd's.....
-
Downloading the 64-bit version for when my new lappy arrives
Smooth as silk at ~1mb/s
-
So can you use cds or is it just better to use dvds? Or can I use thumb drive or external hd for bootcamp?
I suppose I will start searching google -
Well to use cd's you'd have to split the ISO over the CD's....
If you want to thumbdrive it you have to figure out how your comp can boot off USB.....
So really it's up to you -
downloading here, only 403kb/s though, would like it to be 2mb/s but you can't have everything lol!!!!
-
I got lucky and found a friend that had some blank dvds, the funny thing is he was the last person I would haev thought would have blank dvds Lol
but anyways, 3/4s downloaded. -
Well, mines all downloaded, and was a breeze, took about 45 mins to download, and a hell of a lot easier than 7000, no spending all day pressing F5!!!
-
Remember there is no rush to download this release candidate, I will wait till Thursday or Friday to download and then have the weekend to test. I really don't feel like joining the "rush hour" first downloaders.
Once I have it I will dual boot it with vista just like I did with the win 7 beta. -
I'm getting it at 150KB/s right now. I guess everyone is taking your advice and waiting for the weekend
-
Getting between 7 and 75 kb/s here...probably will have it installed on my X200 over the weekend at this rate.
-
Took me about 2.5 hours.
Is it a bad idea to update directly over 7077? -

Nice, downloaded both versions overnight x86 & x64 Spanish ones. Can't wait to test it
The speed was maxed out at 200kb/s (My ISP bandwidth)
-
Downloaded through the Technet and I am really excited to see this OS. It is absolute slick when compare to Vista. Need to explore more.
-
Downloaded via TechNet, 475 Kb's thankfully!
Question for yall....My Vista took a crap last week, had to perform a clean install, but I loaded XP instead of Vista since I was heavily ticked at Vista.
Can I load this on a seperate partition? Would love to have my XP as well until I know for sure 7 is working properly for me. -
My dl is not b/w 90-110 kbs...once it is done I will proceed to install...would create a dual boot system, but 7 will be the main one.
Cheers guys! -
Downloading at 500kBps under FF on my college's network now. I'm getting the French version for my dad.
-
Finally got it burned. Going to install later. This will be my first clean install since the beta! I've been doing updates for all the prior leaked builds.
-
Well, downloaded and installed on my desktop, and like all other builds, kills the system. I think it hates my old x1050 graphics card!!!!
-
Darn! I didn't know that they were gonna release it just before midnight!
I'll fire up IE now I guess
EDIT: How many GB's is the download? -
I knew there would be a thread or two that quickly explodes to 9 pages here on NBR
I just downloaded both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions using my workplace's awesome Internet speed and got them both in a half-hour.
I'll first be installing the RC on my HP Mini, to see how well it performs on it. Currently the 7000 build is running pretty well, but slightly sluggish due to the rather slow hard-drive it's got (4200 RPM). Is this build 7100, as was mentioned countless times in these threads? -
Thanks rjbg84 for the link. Will be installing the 32-Bit version on my netbook when it arrives. +Rep coming.
-
Finally got it installed in VMware and its running fine right now. Im going to install a game and see how it works out.
If anyone is wondering about which OS to choose in VMware, its windows server 2008. You can find the guide at VMware.com.
Cheers -

it's 53 percent done for me

Its funny cos NVidia never released a Vista driver for this card and all third-party modded drivers were problematic. Interestingly, Vista installed its own drivers for this card automatically so I used a program (Driver Magician) to extract that driver and use it for 7 (Windows 7 never found any drivers for it so I was stuck with VGA), and it worked like a charm. -

Microsoft seems to have learned from the beta as I am not getting any issues downloading at work on the 6mb/s connection here. I should have the x64 version in a little over 2 hours but I am still waiting till the weekend to try it out as I have no time to in the next few days.
Enjoy...
Edit: If the "direct link" above takes you to the Microsoft windows 7 home page (Microsoft sometimes redirects direct download requests) instead of starting the download then all you need to do is copy the full URL for the links posted (right click and get them) into a browser and press enter, this will allow you to download the DVD iso file. -
does anyone know if openGL was improved for the 64bit version? I have beta build 7022 and had to use 32bit for it to work properly
-
I've taken the card out and ran it on the integrated graphics and it runs fine although there's no aero. Card works fine in vista.
I've tried builds 7000, 7057, 7077 and 7100 all with the same issues, so I think i'd need a new card if I want to run 7. -
How many have already installed the OS...and BTW...how is it running???
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
OK now 2 of my programs don't work including my antivirus... other than that I like it... lol
-
BTW, any problems with driver installation, any device with the yellow warning sign? -
I am going to install the 64 bit version in my Sony Vaio FZ tonight. Sony doesn't supply 64 bit drivers for this notebook. I hope that Windows 7 finds atleast the basic drivers.
