Yep you can, supposedly it might make it a bit slower than a clean install of W7 but I upgraded Vista Business to RC with no issues at all. It notifies you to uninstall specific applications, etc before installing, after that it's all good. After uninstalling McAfee, upgrading, and installing Avast, my Samsung X360 seems faster and more stable now than Vista. I don't know if it's just me but it seems to run more efficiently, definitely a lot snappier.

Well, to be on safe side, I'll just put the data on Dvd, and do clean install. I need to get rid of that junk software I installed on Vista anyway.

I've done just that and it works perfectly, from Vista Home Premium --> 7 Ultimate RC.

But I have since done a clean install for comparison and the difference is quite substantial IMO. First, a clean install took 25 mins compared to just over 2 hours for the Upgrade process. Second, the performance seems to be much better after a clean install (even after reloading all my apps) compared to the Upgraded state.

Mmm. I installed W7 that I downloaded from MS on partition, but already deleted it. Do you download Ultimate by default?

Ultimate is the only version they've made it in so far, being that Ultimate includes ALL the features, so testers can be sure that everything has been tested and been ironed out

I did a fresh install from Vista 64-bit to Windows 7 64-bit. Runs even faster! Only problem so far is that Window's One Care anti-virus doesn't work. Kaspersky has a beta version for Windows 7. Everything is working fine although the cpu is running much hotter.

I have a quick question about 7. So by default, The root Libraries folder is pinned to the taskbar. Also, when I right click on the pinned "Windows Explorer" button, I pinned Downloads to the Jump list.

Here's my problem, when I pin Documents, Music, Pictures, or Videos, it directs me to the respective Library folder and NOT the individual User folder, which is what I want.

Now, I created a new Library called Downloads, which includes my User Downloads folder and the Public Downloads folder. How can I pin this Downloads Library to the "Windows Explorer" Jump list?

    Quick question:

I'm dual booting Vista and W7. So that means my HDD has 3 partitions altogether. Vista, W7, and then a recovery partition.

Well for the W7 partition, I only set aside like 20gb of my HDD, and left everything else in the Vista partition.

Now Im thinking I may want to increase the size of my W7 partition a little bit more, cuz right now it only has 4gb free or so, and I wanted to install my MS Office suite on W7 too. So is there a way i can expand my W7 partition a little more without effing everything up? If so how would i go about doing it?

Just drag the Downloads folder that you created to the "Windows Explorer" taskbar icon and pin it there. When you want to open it, right click on the Explorer taskbar icon and select it.

Can anyone assist on this question? Can i go into computer management, shrink my vista partition by another 5gb or so, then somehow integrate that 5gb blank section into my W7 partition w/o reinstalling everything or formatting?

You can't do this with the built in disk management. Because you need to move the W7 partition to the left (as seen in disk management) in order to create space for it. Use a free partition manager like Easeus home edition. Do you have the W7 partition at the end of the disk?. If yes, then this is the only way to go.

I tried doing that before but whenever I drag the Downloads Library to my taskbar, I get the little red icon, meaning it can't do it, which is why I asked because I thought there would be another way.

EDIT: Restarted the computer, tried it again and it worked... weird. :S
