Does anyone know what is the current newest build of windows 7?
I'm using build 7057, but I read somewhere that there is build 7061.
And then too many version names floating around, which are fake.
Any thoughts?

I've read that build 7061 is the next one that is supposed to come out but I don't know if it's out yet. Besides that, I believe there is a build 7059 that some people on here have.
-
The latest I could find as of last weekend is build 7057. I installed it on my Gateway 6864FX laptop and it's run like a dream since. I upgraded from the public release, build 7000.
I also had heard about a 7061 build but couldn't find it anywhere. I could only find rumors of it. -
I found this on Neowin's website: http://www.neowin.net/news/main/09/03/27/windows-7-reaches-build-7068
I'm still running build 7000. Can't wait for the RC to arrive in May to us general people who don't want to download potentially hazardous torrents.

Internal builds are updated daily.. There's no point trying to keep up with each update.. 7063 is floating around, though..

Leaked builds after official beta (7000) are 7022, 7048, 7057 and 7068 (leaked today). All others are fake.

Hmm.. I heard 7057 is the leaked RC.. If that is so, then what is 7068?

I am getting 7068 to. Had a few internet issues with 7057. Hope they resolve them in the new build.
-
im am running build 7048. I have noticed some anomolys that were not present in 7000 regarding switching walpaper and viewing pictures in general the system is adding brightness or some sort of filter to it randomly. it basically looks overexposed until you apply. tried 3 different video drivers to solve the problem and it just wont go away. never happened with version 7000.
-
I see build 7068 leaked everywhere now. Some are saying that it's RC1 but where have we heard that before? For those installing/using it post back your impressions.

7068 is working great for me so far. Seems to be a little more responsive than 7057. The .ini file opening at startup is gone.
-
I'm using build 7068 also, been great!
-
I've started noticing some bugginess with 7068. Taskbar icons are dissapearing and I've noticed the cursor hanging a few times. Clicking the start button was blank a couple of times. This has happened on 2 machines.
-
I heard that 7068 is supposed to be much faster than 7057. Can anyone confirm? I'm downloading it now.
-
7057 is faster than 7068 for me

W7 v7057 had been great, loading the taskbar and services had been much faster. Applications loaded much faster even in an old 2.16 c2d cpu. Back in Vista it took 1 full minute to load everything from the start menu to services, right now>breeze

Wow 7070 already? I just installed 7068. So far, no noticeable changes really.
-
Dang, 7070 already!!! I just installed 7068
sigh... -
Hmm apparently rumors of a build 7072 are floating around already but I can't seem to find any confirmation of its existence.
-
it's good thing we just "upgrade" and don't do any new installs ...whew
-
honestly feeling, its worth to wait for official RC builds when their are sightings of infected builds.
i personally installed 7000 build on vaio after checking hashsums.
i dont believe in the leaks from other sources and i am downloading 7068 to run in VMWARE .thats it not on actual physical machine.
i will install RC on this system.
latest leak is 7070.and build is 7072 -

Hmm I may try to find a good build later, I am in the beta and have my key somewhere in my email. never actually got around to installing it.
Should have the W90 in a few more days so good time to try it out. -
keys are still available only thing we need is untouched builds.
not some tinkered builds. -
So far there is now bugs for me with build 7068 yet.
-
7068 is a little buggier for me. I had issues upon resuming from sleep mode earlier today. The system looked like it was frozen for about 2 minutes and then everything went back to normal.
-
Running 7068 off the 'rrents; I think its been messed with since I didn't have a chance to "choose" which version of Windows I wanted to install - it just went to x64 Ultimate. Can't wait for the "official" RC build!
-
-
As far as I can tell (I've installed several different versions on a VM), Ultimate is all that is available at the moment whether it is x86 or x64 is down to you at the time you download it (x64 and x86 require different disks). There is no way to select any different version (x64 install with an x86 disk).

I had installed the public beta a few times, and found that it all depends in whether you provide a product key or not in the beginning stages of the installation. If you did not provide one, it will ask which edition you want to install. If you do provide one, it will not.
I also found that in VMWare Workstation, it WILL ask all the time even if you use the 'Easy Install' path. I'm pretty sure VMWare Fusion behaves in the same way, but I haven't checked that yet.
If you choose any edition other than Ultimate, you'll find the product key won't work when you go to activate Windows after the installation completes. The key is tied to which edition you install, which in the public beta 7000 build is the Ultimate version. -
For those using 7068, when you activated it does it show an expiry of March 1st 2010? I was surprised to see that date on Paul Thurott's screen shots of 7068.

next week build 8000. another 3 weeks build 9000. Its amazing.

whats the most stable build out there now? i know theres alot, but out of all of them which seems to work the best?
also, whats the difference between x64 and x86? -

x64 = 64bit -
thanks for clearin that up vicious..whats the best build right now?
do these builds expire quick and will it not allow me to get the "real" windows 7? -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
It expires in like a month or two I forget the date and I dont think anybody can say for sure if you can just enter your retail key and upgrade to retial or have to do a clean install
-
I've only tried two of the builds, the one released at PDC 2008 (6800-something) and the official public beta (7000). Both were incredibly stable, and lots of people claim the later builds were even more stable.
In my experience with build 7000, it runs very well on my netbook and desktop. I favor running Windows 7 on my netbook over XP.
Edit: I have heard that build 7068 (or some build number near it) might have some minor issues for some people, but I'm not sure as I don't have a copy of it to try out. -
I would NOT recommend build 7068. It is buggy, unstable, I can't install many applications, locks up a lot, etc etc etc. Wait for 7070 or whatever is next, or stick to the stable 7057 build.
-
I have 7068 64bit and it is working fine for me.
-
ok so the general consensus seems to be between 7000 and 7057. Im assuming the 7000 is the plain beta that windows gave open to everyone for a limited time.
what is the difference between 7000 and 7057?
which is the most stable? -
-
is it pointless for me to get a build if it expires in a month or two?

Edit: I can't do math... not 6 months, more like 9 months from now.
