Okay, who's got Vista installed? I need help. I need some screenshots of what some scores people are getting in the "Windows Experience Score". I can't get any of the usual benchmarks to run so am relying on the built-in Vista "benchmarking tool" to compare how an HP tx1000 AMD with:
Turion X2 1.8GHz
Nvidia Go 6150
2GB RAM
machine compares to other machines. I get a base score of 3.0, attached is a screen shot. If anyone else is able to take a screenshot of a score they're getting on a Vista machine and provide specs of the machine it'd be much appreciated!

No problems, Abaxter. I'm always glad to help out where I can.

Specs below, i got 3.1

I had a 4.5 (or a 4.4, can't seem to remember)
Will re-install Windows and post a screenshot here. I promise. Give me time over the weekend; school and work is like squeezing the life out of me.
P.S.: It might be higher if my RAM comes in teh mail.

Experience Index 3.3
Andrew, Vista uses the lowest base score as the experience index. Display drivers do affect the base score for gaming graphics. When i had driver v97.28, my EI was 3.4 but when i upgraded the driver to v97.44, my EI became 3.3. lolThe EI is not really reliable for benchmarking. Fortunately there's one benchmarking tool which supports vista: PassMark PerformanceTest
Try it and compare your score with baseline results from other users
Right now,Vista is such a pain due to software compatibility, but once you get your rig running, you won't look back at XPAttached Files:

Ive noticed my RAM scores are slower then all the rest that have been posted so far. Since the vid card uses the ram im sure the slow ram isnt helping anything. Ill be curious to see if the score gets any better when I upgrade\change the ram -

I don't have it now, but I did have RC2 for a while on my laptop (when I was still working at Co-Op and actually had time to play with the OS). But here's the screen capture I had from back then...I'm sure drivers have improved since then and the score might be higher now...but that is what I've got.

I don't suppose it's possible to do this WITHOUT installing Vista?
For those with lesser machines, it doesn't seem useful to have to install it to find out it will run like crap... -
somebody post something of m1210

yep go back 4 posts its 3.3

Hey Andrew...my nc8430's processor is 2.16GHz and not 2.0GHz. Not that it matters much
.
Looking at those scores definitely tells me I didn't have the best drivers for the job. -
I see the GFX scores are fairly consistent...
Andrew, i've got an idea.
Can you split the table further by creating a separate column for Vendor, Model, CPU, GFX and Memory? So that you get the ability to sort and compare the scores by either vendor, model, cpu or gfx. It's easier to do it in excel. You can then port it to HTML. You get what i mean? -
Just for comparison, here are the numbers from a test desktop at work:
Dell Optiplex GX520
Intel Celeron 2.53GHz
512MB Memory
40GB HD
Intel 82945G Integrated VideoAttached Files:
-
-
Dell Latitude D820
C2D 7600
2GB 667 DDR2 Memory
7200RPM Drive
Nvidia 120m Video
Video card is killing my score with Aero turned on, without aero I get around 3.9. But I also just switched from 32bit to 64bit which seems to run a bit better dunno if it is because the 64bit is business edition and not the ultimate like the 32bit was.Attached Files:

I am running Vista Business on my R60. Specs are in the sig. It is the release version. I just got it yesterday. Aero seems to be running about the same as XP. I can't tell the difference whether it is on or off performance wise.
-
just wondering, how did all you guys get vista already?
-
beta, promos, companies, schools, illegally...
its kind of hard not to have it by now in at least some form. -
well i dont have it cuz im on a crappy notebook thats not even mine, and it has 126 mb of ram... im waiting for my hp to come!
i was just wondering how you guys got it... -
I got Vista Business for free the first day it was available to business's.
Prob around 2 months ago.
-
have u guys found any bugs or problems with vista?
-
Got it from MSDNAA for FREE. Glad i'm still at uni =3
-
-
oh sweet! so u have any problems with vista?
-
I got RC2 from MS's webbie - they had that page up for like one day, and I searched and searched and got it, and I grabbed it, and I have it.
Gamermatt, your sig says "2 Mics". Does your laptop have 2 microphones? Isn't having 2 mics kinda useless? -
My Laptop: acer 5672 with x1400, 2G ram 667MHz DDR2, 100G 5400rpm
Windows Vista Ultimate RTM (from MSDN).
Score: 3.4
CPU (Intel centrino duo 1.66GHz): 4.6
RAM (2G 667MHz): 4.8
Graphic (Aero): 3.4
Graphic (gaming): 3.6
Primary HD: 4.5
Vista runs flawless and faster than XP...if only i can increase the graphic for Aero to 3.6 (why it's slower than the gaming one?)
-
1. I have a dell 6400 and dell has yet to release a driver update for media direct. I guess that is not to surprising considering most people that run vista at this moment are business's and do not require media direct.
2. Vista eats ram like no tomorrow!! If you want a system that is always running smooth while running like 3-4 apps, you should definitely opt for 2GB. Right now i am on this forum and running a fan control program and my ram consumption is at 60%. I have 1 GB installed. -
Here's mine:
Samsung Q35 testdriving Vista Ultimate. I don't know whether to keep it for good since I can't get the native Samsung features such as AVS Now to run on it and also this stupid Base System Device missing driver is annoying as well. Also seems to be running slower than when I first got the laptop when it was on XP Home although that's to be expected with all the Aero bells and whistle.
-
Okay, as I promised in the first page, here's my Windows Experience Index. What bugs me is this: I upgraded my RAM to 2GB and HDD to 7200rpm. But I still get the same subscore - I was expecting an increase.
Specs in sig (the upgrade that I just finished half hour ago hasn't been recorded yet)
P.S.: Is 5 like the highest number you can acheive? -
No because you have a 5.9 on your graphics card.
-
wow nice score!
where did u get vista ultimate? did you download it illegally or did u get a cd? -
Alright.... Newbie question INC.
- Whats the score mean?
- Whats the lowest score that Vista can play with ?
And has anyone really played with Office 2007? Is it any good? Or is 2003 still basically the same thing? -
