Anyone know why the intel gma 950 is beating out my graphics? This seems absurd to me. I know the 7200 is pretty crappy, but ANY dedicated graphics should be beating the GMA 950 shouldn't it? -
The highest possible rating you can get is 5.9 and lowest is 1. I believe anything lower than one won't be able to support Vista. The games that vista comes installed with can only be played with a level of 1 with Microsoft preferring a level 2 computer.
-
What I really want now is a gaming benchmarker - 3DMark just doesn't run
And the help file says that 5 was the maximum when Vista was released *shrugs*
I was hoping for a higher score, but it was the same even when I upgraded the RAM (from 1 to 2) and HDD Speed from (7200 from 5400). Before the upgrade it was the HDD that got 4.5, now it's the RAM, lol.
-
Here, for reference, is my new desktop:
If I recall, my Inspiron 9300 recieved about a 4.5, also processor-capped, and my Compaq v2000z got a 3.0 - capped by the x200M, of course.
Anybody know how running the x86 vs. the x64 version affects the CPU score? Or does it? I seem to remember my Compaq also getting a 5 on CPU running the x64 RC1, and it had a single-core Turion64 (albeit at the same clock speed). -
How can you guys get a score of 5, that seems impossible ??

Reaching 5 on a desktop is obviously even simpler - my system cost $1150 ($1350 if you include the LCD) and could probably reach 5.5 with a perfectly safe CPU overclock. Maxing out at 5.9 on everything may require a 10,000RPM HD, however.
Edit: Just went to Dell.com and configured an e1705 with a T7400, 100GB 7200RPM HD, 2GB of DDR2-667, GeForce Go7900GS, and some other random goodies (DVD burner, 9-cell battery, and Bluetooth) and with a coupon it comes to just about $2000 after tax (I live in Florida) with 1-year of at-home service. So there, it isn't all that hard to get a 5 - it'll cost less than two grand on a notebook, and that's only if you're stupid enough to buy DDR2-667 RAM from Dell (to say nothing of how stupid you have to be to live in Florida...) -

Hey guys, just got my dual booting Vista install working
Actually I haven't booted back into XP yet, been playing around in Vista.
Anyhow, took a screenshot of my WEI, it is 4.2 with some background tasks and driver software download going. So it may be slightly higher if I close everything first.
-
Here's mine - 4.7 on a slightly upgraded W3j.
I'm guessing the numbers will increase as new hardware comes out, getting larger. Future software might require higher Indexes.Attached Files:

"But that's not the weirdest tidbit about this feature. No, that accolade belongs instead to the range of scores which your system (and its various measured components) can obtain. Being a logical personal, you might assume that Microsoft would rate these things on a scale from 1 to 10, or perhaps 1 to 5. That would make a lot of sense. But instead, the highest possible score is 5.9. That's right, the scale goes from 1 to 5.9. You just can't make this stuff up. (To be fair, however, the score is open-ended to support new hardware advances as they happen.)"

^^^ Interesting that your 7400rpm hd makes a .4 difference in the Hard Drive score, but we both got a 4.7 for calcs/sec even though I have the 2Ghz....

Anyone have a Asus z96j? I want to know what someone with similar specs got as a score.
-
Yeah, I would like to know also. My z96j is the same as BPHusker's except for my T2400.
On a side note, I noticed that the core 2 duo's were getting better scores but does it make a difference if you're running 32 or 64 bit vista? Say I was to upgrade my processor but keep using 32bit vista, would the score go higher? -
Windows Experience score is 4.5, anyone run 3dmark06 on vista yet? my score is 2694 down From 3147 with win XP.

My score was a 3.2 .
But after I upgraded to the ATI radeon Xpress 1100 driver made for Vista, it now gives me a lower score of 2.6. Weird.
My aero is still working with no problem.
Has this happen to anyone else? -
The score is determined by the weekest link. I guess the driver affected something else. Or were you talking about the graphics score?

Hey i know no1 has used this thread for a while but i thought i'd attach my score and ask a question whilst im at it...why does it say i haev 1019mb total availabe memory for graphics and also 763 shared memory towards it? (When i know its 256mb card)...it wont actually be using it i take it? (im guessing that vista is making some form of 'typo' error?)
