I tried to run the benchmark progtam but it crashed on the video system error nv4 mini.sys error did a memory dump and rebooted the system I went to the nvidia site and downloaded the current drivers for vista but it wouldn't let me load the drivers saying I didn't have vista installed and the beta driver said my hardware wasn't supported, I have the dell xps m1710 with the 512mb geforce go 7950 gtx card so I don't know what the problem is.

Thanks WackyT it took 3 times before the download would work it kept timing out, but I was finally able to download and install the driver, I can now run the screen saver and open up the games without it shutting down. I am going to run the benchtest now. Thanks again

Wow... some of you are getting extremely good scores... especially that 4.9, DTX. Very nice. I'm sitting at 4.0 myself. Not bad, not great.

My score is 3.6. Would have thought my graphics card would be a little bit better than that.

That's odd... I have the same video card as you, yet my score was 4.0. How much memory does your X1400 have? 128MB or 256MB? I have 128MB.

    7200 Core2Duo
    2 gigs ram
    X1400 gpu
    5400 160 gig HD

This seems kind of low, GPU really killed this one.

I have the 256mb one. Now that seems really odd, is it my driver? What driver do you have and where did you get it from? Dell website or somewhere else?

Well, I have a ThinkPad, so no, not the Dell driver. I'm using the Ati driver. However, everytime I boot, Vista gives me a warning about the driver not working properly, but obviously, it is to some extend.

For some reason I don't think these scores are really accurate on how your computer performs on Vista.

    Thats because I updated to a T7200 CPU from T2500 CPU, and a 7200RPM HDD from a 5400RPM HDD.

Im annoyed that Microsoft does not round my score up to 5! Com'on, 4.9 is very close to 5!!!

i dont like to think that anyone would cheat but i've just found out how easy it would be!!!!

    http://blogs.tech-recipes.com/shama...ase-your-windows-experience-index-base-score/

i wont be looking at anyone in the high 5's the same again, lol

just like to note that after using readyboost my base score (graphics) increased by 0.2. i was always a bit cynical about using it but i'd never tested it using performance check. its stayin in now!!!!
