When you pop the DVD with vista into the drive follow the instructions and all until you get to the partition editor. In that you should be able to make a new partition to put vista on (this partition editor is really easy to use and has some great features).

I didn't think Vista had a partition editor built in. I know for a fact that Beta 2 did not. Does RC1 include one now?

Yeah, but if you need a key you can PM me. Apparently there is a key which works for all vista builds and what not.

Yeah, there is a partition editor. Its a REALLY strong one too, you can actually edit partitions right from the control panel in vista. Beats the hell out of these linux based partition editors I'll tell you that much.

Well, I'm glad they finally put one in. The one in XP is decent... but nothing to write home about. If I ever do another clean install of Vista I'll make sure to check out. Like I said, Beta 2 didn't have one, and I just upgraded my Beta 2 install to RC1 instead of a fresh install like I should have.

    Visit this url:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx

Select either ordering a DVD or downloading the operating system. If you select download then register yourself with your live id and then microsoft will send you an email with the product key and download link.

Hmmm, well...I think my problem is that I'm using an older build of vista, a newer version of nero, lol.

lol...isn't this the vista rc1 thread, not the xp trying to look like vista thread?
    here's how mine looks:

it's not perfected yet. when explorer is creating a thumbnail of a video with subtitles, explorer crashes. also there is a problem with the audio drivers; after about a two-second delay, there is a very faint, but undeniable echo of anything that's played. this explaines why visualizations in the Media Player 11 are out of sync with the sound.

minor issues, but i've wasted a lot of time trying to fix them.

also, the beta catalyst drivers don't have the control center, if you use Avivo Converter.

i'm still gaming in XP, but i suppose D3D10 is already running in Vista? Kinda sad that you can't upgrade a lappy GPU, looks like the desktop will return as the gaming rig in 2007-8.

I've seen some AMAZING D3D10 screenshots. It's actually life-like (about time!). Google "crysis directx10" to see what i mean. it's really insane (and about time!).

BTW, the Vista RC1 is free from MS. Just download and burn.
