just letting people know this will be out very soon. i of course will not post those kind of links here but it is out there now... so we should see the ms release within a week or two hopefully now!!
-
I heard W7 RTM would be released tomorrow. Seems like it could happen.
-
if you want to check the build number its:
7600.16384.090710.1945 -
The last official thing I heard was "the last two weeks of July". I'll be checking Technet at least once a day. I hope Microsoft will reveal the final build number and the release date on Monday, at the Worldwide Partner Conference.
-
from what im told by a reliable source (from china) that will be the final build number
-
Are you talking about Long Zheng? FWIW, I read that the supposed links to the leaked RTM are phony.
http://windows7center.com/news/windows-7-rtm-finalized-at-build-7600-download-leaked/ -
So does RTM mean the same code that will be in consumer boxed products in October then? Or could it change slightly?
Either way, if it's delayed by a week or two, I'd rather they get it right.
I plan on setting up my whole home network based on Windows 7 and Windows Home Server, so if they can improve it, all the better. -
Usually RTM is the same thing as the retail release - just a bit earlier for manufacturers. There is always a chance that the retail release will contain minor updates and/or security fixes, but AFAIK that's not a common occurrence.
-
no.. not him... this is in the process of uploading all over the place. the guy im talking about is legit always has been...
-
Yea, it could change, but usually it doesn't; the RTM build is almost always the same as the final build.
-
For those who don't know, Long Zheng is a long time Microsoft blogger held in high regard. He's reported the same build number that zfactor posted.
-
Agreed. Usually only the EULA receives changes, if necessary.
-
so sketchy this thread lol i dont think i would trust this source from china
-
It's always possible that the source is wrong; but zfactor seems to have a good nose for who's blowing smoke and who's got the goods - at least with info that he passes on - and he has a source in Asia somewhere (could be China, I don't know for sure) who's been good on some other stuff that would imply that the source is placed to know what's going on with the RTM version.
-
you have a valid point but iam really excited tho if it is true

At this point I wouldn't touch a downloaded VHD or ISO without having confirmation, from a known MSFT employee, of the checksums, build #, and 'provenance' of the package.
With all of the hits that the botnets have been having lately, it's not out of the realm of possiblity that hacked 'releases' of Win7 RTM will show up sooner than later.
What does NOT count as assurance is the same download/source that is cross-quoted by web site after web site. -
Quite right.
-
I was just reading somewhere that it's not supposed to be released until sept.

Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
Same here. I thought the Windows 7 being released by now is the offical RC. -
i thought it was on the 13th of july
-
You are probably thinking about the retail version, slated for an October release.
-
Yeah, the RTM sign-off was scheduled for the 13th (tomorrow) but there was a rumour that a show-stopper popped up and a delay was going to happen. But then another rumour quashed that one and said MSFT is still on schedule (supposedly either MSFT fixed it or it never was there to begin with).
Ars Technica ( link) is now reporting a leaked build 7600. Is this the (supposed) RTM? -
Yes, that's the same build number that zfactor posted in this thread.
-
Microsoft typically follows this pattern when releasing a new OS:
Alpha > Beta > Release Candidate > Release to Manufacturing > General Availability
Windows 7 is still in the RC stage, but soon (rumored for the 13th of July), MS will release the W7 RTM. In October they're supposed to release W7 to the general public (retail versions). -
i have 2 other sources who also are telling me that 7600 is scheduled to be the the final rtm.. (one actually works for microsoft i can not post any of his info though as to not get him in trouble.....just fyi)
rtm is the verison that goes to manufactures. like dell hp etc... the one due out in sept will be the full retail boxed versions that you see in stores. same went with vista i had the rtm and that was the same version that ended up final months before it was stated to be actually released even to rtm.. there is maybe a .01% they change anything between retail and rtm...
to add also if my source is wrong ill for sure eat my words as i always say i will not a problem .... but he is VERY rarely wrong...
to add also a new version of office beta has been released as well.. just fyi.. this one is working half way decent compared to the very early one.. -
this one won't be activatable with the beta keys though so...
-
correct... ill run it for the 30 days myself and hope the keys hit msdn by then.. or just do a format and reinstall if not by then to get another 30..

davepermen Notebook Nobel Laureate
sounds like a good plan
can't wait for the next version of homeserver (somewhen in 2010?), based on win2008r2 (a.k.a. win7 server edition
).
maybe by then, i'll do a full to-win7 switch as well?
i've heard about family-upgrades to win7. maybe that can get me interested, dunno
-
I don't think it'd be necessary to reinstall it. You could probably just rearm it, as people did for pre-beta builds, though I'm sure keys will be released/leaked soon enough.
-
I'm not gonna touch the RTM leak, since I wanna use the original Windows 7 OS. I'll just wait for October, even though it's lust is just strong
.
Will Office 2010 be out at the same time period as Windows 7? -
i have some new news but im looking into it before posting to make sure its correct.. ill keep you updated
-
word is the china x64 rtm one is legit
-
Has anyone got the English version of this? The hassle of reinstalling it is kinda preventing me from doing it since we're so close to the actual release date. But at the same time I'm tempted to do it.
So any word on if the english version is legit? -
I think I'm just going to wait till TechNet gets it. First, there are no keys and, more importantly, there's now way to tell as of now which is legit and which isn't. Are there even any official hashes for the RTM to check against?
You can't do that to us....
-
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
You can extend the 30 day trial to 120 days, meaning you could install this leaked rtm, and then input the cd-key when it gets released in October. No need to do a reinstall. (if this is the final rtm)
-
a few changes are supposed in the works now they "found" something this could still be final but they my "fix" what hey found now.. ill keep this udated, this is from a ms source also btw..
-
So probably no official announcement by MSFT today?
-
the day is not over...
-
Well, as soon as someone leaks the builds from TechNet (after they're posted), it'll be as official as any. I'd rather not wait so long for the same thing, if I can work out compatibility/stability issues or anything else before the official GA.
-
is the RTM version free? How do you get a Key? How long does it last?
-
It is free to TechNet subscribers, and perhaps Connect. They receive keys, and maybe some outside source will leak some working keys later. As to how long it'll last, I do not know. It might just last as long as the RC, until July 2010 or whenever that expired. Though, if it's RTM, it might as well last as long as the retail version, since that's what the retail version will be.
-
It'll be available to MSDN, TechNet and some Partner members but not to Connect AFAIK (at least not to those who weren't invited to the official internal beta program).
Leaked keys are useless because they can only be activated once, on one hardware. If someone tries to activate again, most likely MSFT will blacklist them faster than I can say it. Besides, if someone leaked an MSDN/TechNet key, which would have come from the active member themself, it's kinda stupid because they essentially paid for them, so why leak them? Unless they're just really generous.
RTM will basically be the same as retail copies that are going to be available on October 22nd, so there are no expiry dates but you need a key to activate past the initial 30-day grace period, and there are no free keys. -
I'm downloading it, will post the results if there is any changes.
-
From another forum.
-
I don't think they'd mind that much. I mean.., they have a full subscription, which means they can generate as many keys as they want.
-
until the leaked keys get tracked back to you and you lose your account.
-
Yes, and that is why I didn't specifically say keys would come from them. I mentioned outside sources in an earlier post, and that is probably what is most likely going to happen. Remember that this leak is coming from one such outside source.
-
I don't know about MSDN, but TechNet only allows 10 Keys per product version. Personally I think piracy would hardly come from any leaked keys, rather an activation crack, like the OEM crack thats been so successful for Vista.
-
Yea, sorry about my hyperbole. But it is still generally more than enough. Time for the waiting game.
win 7 rtm has been leaked!!! final version actual rtm
