It's 10 activations per key. You can pull as many keys as you want, but if you pull many relatively quickly on a new product release, I'm sure they'd investigate throughly, or suspend your account. Actually, if you pull more than a few in a short period, I hear they will investigate.
It's pretty ignorant to say "who cares". If you don't care, then why don't you buy your own subscription. It's attitudes like this that forces benefits of things like TechNet to close or become too exhorbinantly expensive, it doesn't make sense any more.
-
Sounds like MS may have pulled it to arbitrarily slap another build number on the RTM in response to the leak.

Here's one thing I don't quite get. The string/build of the leaked 7 is 7600.16384.090710.1945. I read on ZDNet two conflicting reports, one stating that the .16384. portion confirms that it will give complete compatibility with anything Vista, and another report saying that this can't be RTM because MSFT was aiming at RTM having the string .163 86. (not 84) to guarantee compatibility. In other words, there are still two builds to go for RTM. Does this make sense to anyone?
-
Ok, well, I was just stating that if they were to be generous, as ATC stated, they could be. It is indeed unfair for people to be mooching. I do not believe that anyone will want to share their keys.
-
According to this blog, RTM is yet to be released and, obviously, yet to be leaked.

yep he must have been right then they held out to update a couple of things.. my apologies if this ends up not final. yesterday morning the guy at ms told me this was it then a few hours after i got the email saying it may be held due to a change. but i assure you it will not be more than a few days at most.. if not sooner
-
what, are we all wiseguys now? This is starting to sound like a bad imitation of The Sopranos.
This guy sold me about the thing at the place. -
like i said just relaying what i was told buy a normally VERY reliable source.. he said in fact he was even told (he doesnt work in the coding he is in the upper offices) they thought it was final.. then they were told otherwise later on.. no sporanos stuff going on here ... as i said i would say i was wrong i did.. again simply passing on the info i was told.. hopefully we will have better news soon
-
I still expect the RTM news to be discussed at the Partner conference this week, and to have the RTM available for download at MSDN and Technet around the end of July.

Remarks by Allison Watson, Bill Veghte, and Stephen Elop about the Microsoft Partner Network, the release to manufacturing of Windows 7, and new features in Office 2010
Worldwide Partner Conference 2009
New Orleans, La.
July 13, 2009
"ANNOUNCER: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Microsoft Senior Vice President, Windows Business, Bill Veghte.
BILL VEGHTE: Good morning. How is everyone doing out there? (Applause.) All right. You watch that video, it's such an exciting time. It is such an exciting time.
This morning we will release Windows 7 to manufacturing,"" <<<<<< THAT WAS JULY 13TH, so in fact IT HAS BEEN RELEASED RTM, this is very clear, read for yourselves..
and we write that next chapter, we go after that opportunity. And when you think about the story of Windows, and you think about that story, and you all have written that history. You think about Windows, and over the world you've got over a billion people, over a billion people, depending on what you do. More people speak the language of Windows than speak the English language. And that opportunity, and that value, that incredible simplicity, that broad a set of choices, that's what you've done."
Those window team bloggers are not part of anything else but BEING PAID TO BLOG and being told what to say..
according to Microsoft BIGWIGS ( certainly higher in the MS food chain than internet bloggers) as WZOR correctly predicted, WINDOWS 7 WAS RELEASED AS RTM YESTERDAY MORNING, JULY 13TH and has in fact BEEN SIGNED off, unless of course this senior vp of ms is lying..
taken from another post at another forum -
Interesting, unless the Senior VP himself was misinformed. Which is very unlikely but wouldn't be shocking.
-
Hurry! I can't wait to get my hands on the RTM.
-
I suspect that the RTM is ready but they are just conducting a few last minute quality checks thus the update to the 7600 build. -
so is that china one the real rtm or not the x64 one
-
Windows 7 will be released when Microsoft decides to do so. -
Lets see, we 'trust' the anonymous wzor or a msft exec who has his real name and job on the line.
hmmmmmmmmmm -
lol i dont know what to think iam guessing that was a beta one as well
-
Well here's a crazy prediction; the RTM will be 16386.
-
Well, I think the build 7600 is RTM but not quite sure.
However, I'm happy to report that this build so far has been running smoothly. Probably the best of all of the builds I have ever had. -
Both versions of build 7600.16385 EN have now been leaked. There is still no information as to which build will be signed off as RTM.
-
Correction; there are leaked builds that claim to be build 7600.16384. You have no idea if this is true or reliable info.
And don't give me any fanbois-speak about 'digital certificates'. Far too easy to counterfeit and most users don't know the channels to properly id a fake. -
There is no correction. The EN 64-bit version of 7600.16384 was already leaked, as was a x86 in CH. 85 is more recently leaked. Please do your own research
-
Nothing has been signed off as RTM yet so essentially all that's leaked so far are just other release candidates. And when it's officially signed off I think the news might hit here first.
-
It looks like Microsoft signed off on build 7600.16385 RTM yesterday, according to WZOR.
-
-
The current "RTM" releases are just a ripped folder structure anyway.
No way in hell am I downloading that and trusting it to be the final build. -
works alright for me.
they removed that ugly fish wallpaper!
-
Anything new, compared to RC1?
-
They changed the default wallpaper a few weeks ago.
The thing bugging me about this "supposed RTM" is how the "select the version" screen looks so thrown together.. There's a big space at the bottom where I would expect some kind of description of the OS being installed, and there's a "date modified" field which seems unnecessary. There's also no reminder that you have to choose the OS you purchased, if you don't put in a key.
I expected the Windows Live download to be prominent and sitting right on the Start menu but it's nowhere to be found. -

lol beta fish.Niways, love how w7 already taking a definite shape.
-
The RTM is the version thats released to the computer manufacturers to but on their machine. It's also the first version that doesn't expire. I believe all updates to RTM are done via Microsoft Updates.
-
RTM updates are available the same way that other updates are available - MSDN, Technet, WU, and offline network installations. -
Does this hit MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA)? That's my access to free Microsoft software, so I'm hoping I can nab Windows 7 RTM there. I know I got Vista from the MSDNAA a few weeks before launch, and there's currently a Windows 7 Beta there (but I think it's older than 7100).
-
-
Nice, thanks ATC. I'll be on the lookout for it then!
-
Well it looks like Aug 6th is RTM release for TechNet and MSDN according to Mary Jo Foley (ZDnet) and a MSFT blog. I was hoping for a July release but Aug 6 will have to do.

Here's the link to the Windows 7 blog:

Good!
Link broken, working link here:

I wonder who the first person will be here who will claim to have the real RTM before anyone else..........
-
That better be the person to leak it.
-
-
The RTM that was leaked was not the final.
Microsoft officially announced that it will release on Aug.6 to OEM and TechNetPlus/MSDN subscribers.
WZOR should get a couple day ahead of that... -
Actually Win7 went RTM today.
http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/wi...ows-7-has-been-released-to-manufacturing.aspx
Wonder which exact 7600 build is the actual RTM, if I know I would install it this afternoon and just enter the key when I get it in 2 weeks. -
6.1.7600.16385.090713-1255 is the final RTM build.
-
Sweet! Great news!
Thanks! -
It looks like it's already available at usual places for download.
7600.16384.090710-1945_x64fre_client_en-us
But only 64bit I found so far.
