hey, does anyone have an idea of when the preorders will start for windows 7? I know that it starts tomorro (June 26), but do you have any idea what time? midnight? i really wanna nab one of those preorders! its more than half off!
-
I Just Wish We Could Pre Order In Australia!!!!!
Dam You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
me thinks it starts midnight, but with people on the west coast 3 hours behind us easterners in the states I think it will actually begin at 3 AM (EST).
-
-
do they send it to you in the mail? -
-
hey do you think these upgrades wil be gone fast?
cause my parents can't help me until after work tomorrow like 5 o clock. I would buy iit myself but i have no credit card
I have teh cash though -
Microsoft did not mention what the cap was on getting this promotional pricing for the Windows 7 upgrade, other than that it ends on July 11th. Based on this knowledge, I'd say that you are safe as long as you do it within the first 24 hours.
-
-
dangit....
I may wake up early tomorrow and ask my parents before they go to work.
hopefully they last the first 24 hours...
but "till july 11th" is a long time. hopefully they have a lot....or they are just saying while supplies last so more ppl will buy it. -
is it possible for non-US folks to pre-order in the US if we've a shipping address there? :]
-
woohoo, i preordered windows 7!!!!
via amazon btw -
I have a best buy gift card so i'm trying to get it from there...pretty slow going ATM either it's being hammered or just being put online.
-
Me too! I haven't seen this excitement since win95
-
Turns out the ability to pre-order kicked in precisely at midnight. I just placed an order via Amazon (one of the 3 participating stores in this promotion; other two are Office Depot and Microsoft's own store).
I just found out that if you place it through the Microsoft store, you'll have an option to download it (on October 22nd I believe) in addition to getting a DVD-copy. However, at the time of this posting Microsoft's store is down for maintenance mysteriously... -
Best Buy's still slow poking around getting the site up for Professional....I would have ordered a while ago on the other sites if i wasn't shackled by my gift card
-
I'm excited, but the "happy-factor" is quickly subsiding because I have to wait until October 22nd to get the DVD to install the upgrade. Oh well, I'll live. Vista is rocking anyway for me. I'll miss it dearly.
-
Just Ordered from BestBuy...Wished I didn't have to pay tax but oh well...
85 bucks isn't bad....however it looks like they failed to use my gift card...hopefully they did or i'll be livid! -
Lucky you. I'm still a poor college student.
-
Why is W7 Ultimate upgrade twice as expensive as W7 Pro upgrade? Nuts!
Edit: Nevermind, Amazon is having a sale on Pro and Home edition upgrades. -
cheers ... -

Which version are you guys choosing? $49 is a steal for Home Premium but I'm sorta considering Professional. That Location Aware Printing sounds very useful to me since I use my laptop in different places but everything else in Professional I'm not to sure about.
Can anyone weigh in on what they see as the advantages of Pro vs HP? -
This chart would make it simple:

^^^^^I've seen that before. Charts don't mean squat if they're not fully explained or at least provide a little detail about how and when a feature might be used by a user.
That's why I asked the question. But w/e I give up. -

Forgive me if I'm completely missing something. I'm in the market for a new laptop and I had been waiting at least until today because of the Windows 7 upgrade. I was under the impression that newegg, best buy, dell, sony, etc were going to be giving free upgrades (when it comes out in October) to Windows 7 starting today when you bought a new computer.
Either I'm not seeing on their sites or I'm just misunderstanding...is this not the case anymore?
ETA: Scratch that...I'm now seeing it on Sony and Dell, but not Newegg and Best Buy. -
Really cooool. Even I have ordered one. But need to wait till Oct 22nd.
-
[ twiddles thumbs] waiting is the hardest part.
-
-
I'ma preorder one in a couple of hours...
one thing though
How do u know if it's 64but or 32bit??? I WANT 64Bit -
I think both 32-bit and 64-bit discs will be included. Not sure though.
-
-
will this preorder be any different from the one which new buyers (after 26th) will be getting for free? like... no box? got box? hee..
-
I found the following link on Amazon which many people say both 32-bit and 64-bit media will be supplied in these upgrade packs.
http://www.amazon.com/32-bit-or-64/...ing=UTF8&s=aps&asin=B002DHGM50&store=software -
-
-
-
-
and I have just called for myslef and asked microsoft about the 64bit and 32bit
they said BOTH were included -
-
-
The upgrade disk contains both 32 bit and 64 bit, you can choose either of them while upgrading.
-
Uhm, I have a question. If I use this one on a non genuine OS will it be upgraded and be genuine?
-
can this upgrade be used for XP --> Windows 7?
-
YES haha i just preorderd from amazon
I can't wait til october 22 -
A clean install must be performed since there is no upgrade path from XP to Windows 7
cheers ... -
-
ya i have a genuine win XP but somehow i got the feeling that the windows 7 upgrade is only for vista users... is there a MS site i can confirm?
