think a lot of people use the somewhat stretchy neoprene-like sleeves now, and put the laptop in a backpack/briefcase, especially smaller ones like the E4300

Yeah, the neoprene sleeves are thinner. My bag isn't padded (JCrew Messenger bag), but it has got plenty of room.

I also really like the fact that my 9 cell sticks out. It's a great grip for when I'm walking around with the computer open, and I get more battery life out of it too.

Yeah, I never understood the whole "battery sticks out" craze.

It is like when guys would start wearing fitted T shirts. I keep thinking, "Why?" They provide no functionality over a regular T shirt. They cost more (WTH, but they are smaller??). They usually got some loud design on it. Your back is exposed when you get something (like a girl). And everyone can tell you don't work out.

A battery not sticking out provides no functionality over a battery that does stick out. To get the same battery life, you gotta buy two batteries. So it is the more expensive option. Or you gotta hang out near an outlet, which makes me wonder why do you have a battery in the first place.

I like the sticking out battery too. You can always get a 3 cell if you want something smaller and fitting, or the 6 cell slice.

It doesn't bother me either and it is convenient to hold the laptop when it is open.

What I would change however, is the POS display that only looks correct if you are looking at it precisely head-on. Move a few degrees off axis vertically and the display changes. I constantly have to adjust the display angle unless I hold perfectly still in the same position.

The keyboard could also stand to be improved. It is good and I love the backlight but would like it to be more springy. I feel like the keys are a little sluggish to bounce back.

Is this a glossy screen or a matte screen you are referring to?
