This is on an M6400 with Windows 7 64-bit. I installed dell's newest drivers for Windows 7 64-bit, and everything seems to be working fine, but I don't have the Bluetooth item in Control Panel. That becomes an issue if I turn the Bluetooth radio off from the tray icon, because if I do so, the tray icon is gone, and there's no easy way to turn the radio back on.

So, does anybody know how to fix this?

Nope. I'd probably uninstall BT and then re-install it. Sometimes a new driver is particular about existing installations... could check for any such special instructions at the driver download point on Dell.com.

Tried that, makes no difference. Actually, since I have the Dell 410 BT+UWB card, I first installed the Vista driver (Dell doesn't offer a Win7 driver for that card), which had some quirks, then uninstalled that, and installed the Win7 driver for the 370 card. I didn't get the control panel entry at any point during the process. My guess is that Dell only provides a 32-bit control-panel entry, which 64-bit Win7 will ignore.

I wonder, does anybody see the Bluetooth icon in the Control Panel of 64-bit Win7?

Hmm, that could be an issue with me having a 410 card, but no Win7 driver for it; Dell doesn't provide one...:( But, yes, everything seems to be working perfectly fine, except for me not seeing that icon.

I wonder what your control panel entry for this in the registry looks like. Can you do me a favor, and search your registry for the entry "Bluetooth Devices"? On Vista 32 the key is at
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{28803F59-3A75-4058-995F-4EE5503B023C}
but it may be different for 64-bit Win7. If you can find the associated keys, can you tell me what it says there for you? In particular, what value do you have in InProcServerxx, where xx could be 32 or 64?

Thanks a bunch! I think I have solved my problem, essentially. I have the icon on my control panel now, and I think I have set all the registry keys that are needed, although I am not sure if some of the cosmetics are correct. There are some values such as SortOrderIndex and System.ControlPanel.Category that I simply copied from my reference system, which is 32-bit Vista. It is possible that they are different on Win7 (there should be no difference between 32-bit and 64-bit, since all of these reference the 32-bit subsystem anyway), and if they are, that might affect where and how the icon appears, so I am still interested in your input. In addition, there are some companion keys at HKLM\Software\Classes\wow6432\{28803F59-3A75-4058-995F-4EE5503B023C} also that I am not sure what they are for. They do not seem to be important, but if you could look at these for me, too, that'd be great!

Thanks very much, this helps! Two more questions:

    - If you right-click on the Bluetooth icon in your Control Panel, what items appear in your context menu? What shows up in this menu should be controlled by the Attributes value in the ShellFolder key, which is the only item that seems to differ between what I had originally in my registry, and what you have in yours.

    - I notice that the Task.URL specification is missing in your registry. So, I wonder, in your Control Panel, in Category View, does the Bluetooth icon have options underneath it (you know, these links that appear under some of the Control Panel items, allowing you to perform some specific tasks)? In my case, I now have a link to "Add a Wireless Device", and one for "Bluetooth Settings". Do you see these as well? My theory is, you shouldn't...

There is no Bluetooth Icon in my control panel no matter what view selected

here is a list of the option in my tray icon:

    Add Device
Allow a connection for a device
    Show Bluetoth-Network devices
    Enter a personaly network
    Open Bluetooth Options
    Disable Adapter
    Hide Symbol

This context menu appears with right and left click on the icon

    regards
