    Ahah! I thought you had said you did have the icon in Control Panel, and what puzzled me was that the registry keys you gave me are exactly the ones I had, and I did not have the Control Panel icon. Now everything makes sense! So, there seems to be a general problem with the Dell Bluetooth installations not properly inserting that icon in Control Panel. This Control Panel icon is really not that useful, except for one issue: If for some reason you decide you need to turn off your Bluetooth radio (say, in an airplane), then the tray icon will go away, and you have no simple way of turning Bluetooth back on (except via the device manager).

    Let me know if you are interested in getting the Bluetooth icon back in your Control Panel; I'd be happy to post the registry keys to do this for you.

    That will be nice if you do that for me!

    I also wonder about the driver policy by DELL, it seems that the BT Drivers ar not in a technical mature state.

    if your are interrestet take a look at a post from me in that thread

    I don't know if this was realy a hardware defekt, or a problem with windows.

    regards

    Here you go: You need two sets of keys. Here are the additional keys you need in HKCR:

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{28803F59-3A75-4058-995F-4EE5503B023C}]
    @="Bluetooth Devices"
    "System.Software.TasksFileUrl"=hex(2):25,73,79,73,74,65,6d,72,6f,6f,74,25,5c,\
    73,79,73,74,65,6d,33,32,5c,46,75,6e,63,74,69,6f,6e,44,69,73,63,6f,76,65,72,\
    79,46,6f,6c,64,65,72,2e,64,6c,6c,2c,2d,38,30,30,00
    "ControlPanel"="/name Microsoft.WirelessDevices"
    "System.ApplicationName"="Microsoft.WirelessDevices"
    "SortOrderIndex"=dword:00000058
    "System.ControlPanel.Category"="2"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{28803F59-3A75-4058-995F-4EE5503B023C}\ShellFolder]
    "Attributes"=dword:b0040000

    Note that these are only the additional/changed keys you need.

    And here is the key that specifies inclusion in Control Panel:

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace\{28803F59-3A75-4058-995F-4EE5503B023C}]
    @="Wireless Devices"

    You may have to merge these into your registry in Safe Mode; when I tried to merge those in, I got an error message about keys being in use, so I added the keys manually. Let me know if you need more help with this.
