I need a DVI output for the monitor I am buying. is there a place to get a cheap port replicator?

what are the compatible ones? just the e series?
on ebay they are min. $50. yikes! considering the monitor costs around $150 that seems a lot for a few extra ports.
I can't seem to find any at the outlet.

suggestions? can i use an older one? like a D series?

Look on ebay for a Dell E-port. There is no alternative. The D series docking stations won't fit.

As John has stated, it would be best to buy the E series replicator. Alternatively you can't get a DVI to VGA adapter and connect your monitor like that?

Don't you mean a displayport to DVI adapter? Both the replicator and laptop all ready have the 15 pin VGA port.

I think we mean one of these. It's a lot cheaper than an E-port if all that is needed is a DVI connector.

Whoops yeah I forgot about DisplayPort to DVI. I don't see a DisplayPort on the E4300...?

e4300 only has VGA. i think a VGA to DVI adapter would be just like using VGA to VGA on the monitor. Is there something like an active VGA to DVI adapter that converts the signal into digital?

I don't think so. You could try USB to DVI adapter, they are maybe ~80 after rebates. The EVGA one works well but you lose a USB port. And a few more dollars you could buy a used E port replicator on Ebay..

The PR02X is overkill for most people. It's only for people who want legacy ports or dual DVI monitors. It's more expensive.

The PR03X is probably what you want. It's cheaper and only has DVI, VGA, USB and ESATA on it.

The YP126 is for the D series. Not compatible

The CP103 is the same thing at the PR03X.

The PR03X and PR02X come with and need a 130WATT power adapter. (Ive seen some Ebay sellers trying to include a 90 or no adapter)
