The dock requires more power to run.

I don't think that the dock inherently requires more power (it doesn't make a massive hit on the notebook's battery time if the mains power goes off) but its power rating is designed for the maximum number of attached peripherals. I haven't checked what happens if one powers the dock with a PSU of less than 130W rating.

I'm using the PR02X with a 90W adapter, and haven't had any issues. I wouldn't recommend it (wish I had another 130W adapter) - but I purchased a 2nd dock (off of eBay with no included adapter) for remote use, and only have a few things connected to it: power, monitor, and 2 USB devices.

Just tested it with my E4310 and the 65 watt adapter it came with. Got an error message about insufficient power when powering up, and won't let me get past that. Worked fine with the 90 watt adapter from an older D series.

perfect, thanks for checking that out. Now I know I can just buy one without adapter and then just get it cheap 90 W one. Kudos for you.

Sorry for the bump. Anyone has any idea if the PR03X would work with the E6410 using the 90W AC adapter that comes with the laptop or do I need to get the 130W AC adapter?

It will work with the 90W adapter. My dad's been using his with a 90W for years.
