    This afternoon my M6400 died.
    :(
Whilst working away at my desk, M6400 docked it just powered down.

Pressing the power button causes it (the power button) to light briefly and then go out. Pressing FN+Power (as requested by Dell Tech) does nothing at all.

I've tried it with another PSU (I got 2, one with M6400, other with docking station) - and if you plug the PSU in, and then hit power on the laptop - the blue light on the PSU goes out - and doesn't come back on till the power is cycled. The M6400 does nothing during all of this.

The PSUs work just fine with my D820.

Dell techs are coming tomorrow to fix it. I'll let you know what they say!

They should fix it and you will be totally happy. Gotta love the turn around time.

unplug the laptop and take out the battery, hold down the power button for at least 3 seconds. plug the laptop in again and press the power button. See if that helps, it worked for me on my old laptop

They've changed the MoBo, and it is still dead.
They are coming back with a new CPU, and after that a new M6400...

Better it happened now under warranty than later without, but it still sucks.

And they've now changed the CPU and it is still dead.
They now think it is the FX2700m that died. I'll keep you folks informed.

And I had assumed that the NBD service meant fix the computer, not do step one of trouble-shooting.

    You would think!
In the end it took 3 visits. First visit - change the MoBo. No joy. 2nd visit change the CPU. No Joy. 3rd visit - change the GPU. Tis working now.

However - got very odd behaviour - I have 100% cpu usage since boot up (yes, on all 4 processors!). No idea why...some services are sticking at 25% each. I wonder if they are complaining at change in MoBo or something?
I might try to re-image it and see what happens then.
