    that's a good thing, i also had the tech guy call Dell while he was at my home to tell them they needed too send me a new lappy because wasn't fixing it ;)

    The guy has just gone. All is well.

    It seems that the original GPU (Fx2700m) went phut....and when they finally diagnosed that and replaced it, the replacement was faulty and running too hot.

    The new one is running at 50C all the time. Which beats the old one running at 55C undocked and 84C docked.

    Yay.

    Good for you. I don't know why try replaced the motherboard and processor when it was apparent that the GPU was overheating (the 2nd time) to you.

    At least you got it fixed. You should have asked for a 3700M upgrade for your trouble.

    Nah...I'd never use the capability of it, and my battery life is short enough as it is!

    I never hear dead processors as much, very little in fact. In the past few years with new video cards (more heat and drivers issues) we started to get more problems. :)

    My first M6400 also ran at 56°C (with the FX 3700) the new one runs around 50°C and the fans also don't turn on that often! But even with the old one I never had 80°C docked...
