    Return it and try a Intel 5300 card... its newer and more effective...

    I agree. Why anyone would buy an older card is beyond me.

    I think the 4965 is a safe bet. I do remember reading about a guy having trouble with a 5100/5300 and a D820. Yes, they're not identical, but I think they'd be similar enough such that if the D820 had a problem here, the D620 would as well.

    Didn't the 5100 card get horrible reviews for not picking up connections or dropping them?

    are there two different versions where one is half the size of a regular card?

    Yes. Dell uses half height wireless cards in the E series.
