    Hello, all!

    My specs:

Dell Precision M4400 Core 2 Extreme Edition
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    RAM: 8GB DDR-800 Crucial
HD: Crappy 320GB (I will upgrade this eventually)

My current 6 cell battery died and usually lasted for an hour. I then started researching and found this nifty battery from AGPtek.

12 Cell AGPtek Dell PT434 FU272 Laptop Battery for Dell Latitude E6400 E6500 Precision M2400 M4400 Series Laptop

It's almost the same price as a 9 cell battery is. Two questions:

    (1) How long would my laptop last without power on this beast (settings are set to power saving mode?

    (2) I understand that folks are using the Dell "splice in addition to their 9 cell batteries. Can I use that 12 cell splice with this 12 cell battery?

    Thanks!

The key data for that battery are 11.1V and 8800mAh. Multiply them together and you get 97.68Wh which is not a lot more than the 90Wh capacity of Dell's latest 9 cell batteries (I would point out that the E6410 batteries are interchangeable with the E6400 batteries and would expect this facility also applies to the recent Precisions. However, the new batteries aren't yet on ebay).

You can work out how long the battery may last by running on battery and using a utility which will show the power drain. You then divide the battery capacity (Watt-hours) by the power drain (Watts) to get the hours of run time (but deduct at least 5% to allow for Windows shutting down when the battery gets low). In broad terms an 80Wh capacity will support 25W power drain for 3 hours. You may be interested by this Battery Bar offer.

I can't think of a good reason why a 12 cell battery on the back plus the battery slice (also 12 cell but they are small cells) would not work together but one can never be sure without trying.

    Thanks for your info, John!

Since that 12 cell doesn't offer much more in battery power, I ordered the 9 cell off of Buy.com.
