The driver order is here. This is only for after a clean install though.

I'd try the suggestion killerjack mentioned first, you're also one of the few with video issues instead of audio issues as far as i know as this could solve it

I have red bars not only when the AC adapter is plugged in, also when running in battery mode.
You wrote that your fix is valid only when running in AC mode.

Well, that's not a video problem. It's an audio problem. In fact, I experience cracking audio *and* stopping (w/ video stopping) while playing a movie (in VLC, Windows Vista x32) [just like if the system would be under heavy load].
That said, I'm using DCP to check the results (still, it's an audio problem!).
Thus I believe that this the same problem of all Precision M4400 users with DCP delay...

My point is that lag is from the Vista aero. Because the Powermizer downclocked your gpu, nexttime you use aero cause red bars...

You can try the powermizer switcher to completely shut the powermizer down. (not only AC mode)

I am using DCP too, and after i shut the powermizer down, no red bars anymore.

And I believe that all M4400 has the delay problems with Powermizer on.

I used powermizer and shut down all (with ac and battery)
however red bars in DCP are still there...

    I doubt that.
Maybe with Windows XP there will be no red bars anymore.

    Any clues?

You can try it, since vista did have some problem there.

My desktop has a Opteron170 with 8800GT, but still lag on Cs1.6 in Vista.
Same pc with XP is always sticked at 99 fps.

I noticed a strange behaviour that could be the cause of my problem.

I noticed that when running Windows Media Player and Skype, if I'm listening to some music and Skype rings (i.e. someone's calling me), the audio SKIPS (and then comes to normality, audio+skype in speakers).
So I put in a pair of headphones. The music from WMP was then flowing through them (and not from speakers). As soon as Skype rang, audio from Windows Media continue to flow through headphones, however Skype ringbell and Skype conversation flew throught speakers!!!

Anybody can infer what's wrong with my pc from this odd behaviour?
