I have a brand new dell precision m6400. It didnt include the finger print reader and over at part people.com i can get two different types of finger print readers.

Dell Precision M6400 Center Control Power Button Cover with FIPS Swipe Module

Dell Precision M6400 Center Control Power Button Cover with Biometric Fingerprint

Now what does FIPS Swipe Module mean?? What are the difference between them?

    Hi

FIPS Swipe Module is a kind of Fingerprintreader where the scanning unit is a small stripe. To Scan a Fingerprint you have to swipe the finger over it.

The Other has a scanning unit based on a square formed area where you only have to put the finger on for scanning, you don't have to swipe the finger here.

    Regards
    Christopher

i just got my dell precision m6400. How do I know I got the rgbled display? on my old covet precision m6400 the rgb was behind a piece of glass but on this one its not. its not the covet as well. also my alienware m17x is the wuxga 1200p screen and its behind a piece of glass. the precision is 50% brighter then the alienwares wuxga screen.

You could try checking the specs associated with your service tag or maybe even the hardware id of your display (in the Device Manager). What do those say?

EDIT: I merged your two threads into one as they were about the same machine and posted within a short period of time.
