Not as bad as I thought. I wish there was a similar option for the M4600.

Great news. I only sent Dell HK a question about this exact thing yesterday. Will be great to see how it compares to the 4000.

Unfortunately the it is not appearing yet on the Dell Hong Kong site. Hopefully later today?

Now just for the IPS. :)

Mano_G: Any idea when the 5010 will be available through the parts department or what it'll cost? I might be interested in upgrading my 4000m.

    Dell-Mano_G,

Do you know if there's going to be a covet edition of the m6600? Also do you know when an IPS panel might become available and if it will have the same issues with Optimums that the M4600 has?

HPs price is $1645 over the base 5950 which seems roughly the same except that the 5950 is underpowered for that machine compared to the base 8900 in the 6600. However, remember HP offers up to a 30% discount on those machines which brings the price of the upgrade to ~1150 which is cheaper than Dell's by quite a bit.

But Dell often offers a 20% discount which takes the 5010M down to $1072.

Really wasn't trying to point out which company offers the 5010M for the lowest price. To be honest, I would pointing out how similar the prices are to drive home the point that Nvidia is the one that sets these very high parts costs.

I wish Dell Hong Kong would get its act together. When I emailed them again yesterday to ask about the 5010M and why it was still not a config option they said they knew nothing about it.

They still do not even have different displays to choose from. Their default is the silly 1600x900. If you want the 17.3" FHD (1920x1080) Anti-glare, LED-backlit Display or the 17.3" FHD (1920x1080) LED-backlit, Multi-Touch Screen Display you have to email them and they add it to the order. How prehistoric is that?!

Plus, when I asked what model of display it is (because I want to avoid, or try to avoid Chi Mei displays) the only reply was "I do not know".

Overall very disappointing considering the amount of money being spent, or should I say trying to be spent.

Ya, but it'll likely be an FRU. :(

Given with the old M6500 was like 1500 to go to the Quadro 5000M, 1072 after coupons is a great deal...also 8740W was also 1200+ to go to the 5000M.
