Dell has a recently released Dell ControlPoint Security Device Driver Pack that is Windows 7 compatible. The same goes for the rest of the ControlPoint software.

Has anyone tried this to see if the fingerprint reader shows up as a biometric device under Win 7?

I never miss a chance to give my laptops the finger.

(Even those from a maker who does not offer a fingerprint reader at all)

Have on my Toshiba U-200. I use to use it until I realized that the driver requires a Netware protocol that I didn't want to bother with.

if you mean Dell_ControlVault_A11_R224155 this is only a rerelease or somthing like sorting the drivers new (which is not bad).

Same Version (File) was released on 06/30/2009

    So this is nothing new!
    regards

They released a new firmware on oct. 12, then rereleased the A11 the next day. If you click on previous versions, you will se that there is an A13 release dated oct 12.
