Does anyone know how the Intel Graphics perform under Linux? I am planning to install Ubuntu on it and I am wondering how well it performs ( depends on the quality of the drivers ), will compiz even run on it?

For the SSD it seems that Intel is a better choice in terms of speed and TRIM support. But how expansive would it be to buy an Intel rather than the one offered in option by Dell?

Thanks again for all your replies this is helping me a lot in my choice.

Dell used to sell Samsung for much much cheaper, but lately the prices have been higher. You can always get a HDD from Dell and replace the ODD with a caddy and get a separate SSD.

It's adequate enough, I suppose, but the bigger issue is that it can't be upgraded later.

I don't think the battery savings are enough to warrant going with the integrated graphics. And, of course, what if you change your mind later? At that point, you're screwed, because you can't add a video card after purchase.

My guess is that you have not actually used one of the new i5 based computers.

The i5-540m in the e4310 I am using has a VERY usable built in GPU. They can even change GPU clock settings up and down to allow for more energy savings during normal work and more speed when you watch 1080p video or game. I can get over 40fps in World of Warcraft running medium settings with that built in GPU - and thats not bad.

    hi,
I am very much interested in E5410. but a user review for E5510 mentions a problem with VGA port. See this Dell Latitude E5510 | Dell

Can anyone with E5510 or E5410 confirm if VGA really has a problem or not?
Or this issue is specific to E5510?
