In the end this is a joke next to the X220.

    The X220 is:
    -A lot cheaper
    -Offers IPS
    -Offers a pointing stick
-Offers an arguably superior keyboard layout
    -Offers an SD reader
    -Lighter

The only advantages I see for the E6220:
    -Trackpad has buttons
-Backlit keyboard (Thinkpad has Thinklight though)
-Aesthetics (this is highly debatable as I find Thinkpads better looking than the E6x20 generation - Thinkpads actually got a lot prettier between T400 and T410, while Dell botched the E6x20)

    I just had a E6220 delivered today.

Core i7 2.7Ghz (dual core). 8GB RAM. The 320GB hard drive option. (Laptop is for a different person here, otherwise it would have had the SSD if it was mine).

If anyone has any questions let me know. I haven't seen an X220 in person, but this is a pretty cool little laptop.

Congratulations on your acquisition. Perhaps you can be the first to make a user lounge with a user review of the E6220?

Can you also post your E6220's csreenshot of your systems Device Manager->View Resources By Connection->Memory (+Large memory if have that entry above it)? Ensure the PCI BUS is shown on the screenshot below from a Inspiron 1440.

Dell Inspiron 1440: TOLUD=3.5GB with a rare "large memory" PCI BUS, 4.5GB to 12.375GB allowing 36-bit PCI allocation

This will help determine if the E6220 needs attention to get a 4GB+ eGPU setup going as described in http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...ostro-latitude-egpu-friendly.html#post7633189 .

I'm rather new here and not sure I'd make a user review that offers much more than the info already on Dell spec sheets or websites. Happy to answer specific questions though.

Here's a screen shot of the device manager page that was requested. Hope it helps.

Thank you for your post. Dell have set TOLUD=0xD0000000 (3.25GB). Means a 4GB+ eGPU via the expresscard slot will work on the E6220.

Could you measure the weight of the laptop with and without AC adapter? And also list the battery you selected. There is often a bit of a difference between specs and real world....

What is the battery life like?

Even though Dell may consider the E6220 the replacement of the E4200, I look at the E6220 more of a replacement of the E4310. The jump in size and weight is significant over the E4200. The size and weight of the E6220 is much more comparable to the E4310.

There's no comparing the weak CPU in the E4200 against the new Core i7 that you can drop in the E6220 though.

The E6220 and E6320 that I have recently ordered were less than $50 difference in price.

Both have the Core i7-2620, 4 GB Ram, DVD-RW, Win 7 Pro 32-bit, and the 128 GB SSD.

The X220 that I quoted out with the Core i7-2620, 4GB Ram, 128 GB SSD, DVD-RW, and same OS came out several hundred higher. Maybe in certain configurations one can find an X220 cheaper, but it didn't come out that way for me.

I agree with you on the aesthetics. The E6x20 series is clearly more rugged than its predecessors but to me, they look dated and boring. I actually liked the silver casings on the E4310 and E6410 models.

I purchased my E6320 over 2 months ago, so I'm sure that prices have adjusted since then (about a $600 difference 2 months ago). Also, I compared data from the Dell site with no adjustment for discounts, etc.

It looks like you got some very good priced deals.

    Hi
I was trying to find the weight of this machine with the 6-cell battery. Does anyone have any link/info?

I could only find the weight Dell gives for the 3-cell system (3.17lbs/1.44Kg).
