I just was wondering what some of you are getting in Windows 7 Index Rating.

I have the Intel GPU and was always getting 3.4 overall. I was having issues getting VS 2008 to work without going crazy with SearchIndexer.exe and re-installed 7 just now. Somehow my score is now a 4.1, using the same drivers.

    Processor: 6.0
    Memory: 6.0
    Graphics: 4.1
    Gaming graphics: 4.1
    Primary hard disk: 5.9

    I have a P8600, 4GB Memory, Intel GPU, 320GB 7200RPM WD Black.

Intel does something to cheat it's way to get a better score or a miss test.
My Nvidia Quadro NVS 160M has lower score than what you have. This makes no sense, as the Intel X4500XHD is equivalent to a Geforce 7400M without being really programmable like all other GPU's from ATI and Nvidia. While the Quadro NVS 160M is equivalent to a Geforce 9400M but with 256MB dedicated memory instead of none (so faster.. but not as fast as a Geforce 9500M).

    Processor: 5.9
    RAM: 5.9
    Graphics - Aero: 3.4
    Gaming: 5.3
    HDD: 5.3

    System specs on signature.

I recall that the Intel GPU would also outscore nVidia in the Vista WEI (non-gaming) graphics test. My understanding is that while the Intel GPU is poor at 3D graphics, it is good at 2D graphics.

For comparison, the E4300 with SP9400 CPU, 4GB DDR3-1066, Intel GS45 chipset with 4500MHD graphics and 160GB Seagate HDD scores:

    Processor: 6.0
    Memory: 6.0
    Graphics: 3.9
    Gaming Graphics: 3.4
    Primary Hard Disk: 5.9

I don't have the details to hand but I recall that the GPU in the GS45 chipset runs slower than the same GPU in the GM45 chipset (as in the E6400 with integrated graphics).
