There's also a downloadable diagnostics utility on the E6400 downloads. I think it creates a bootable CD.

I don't know about Dell's diagnostics tests (i don't have one), but I basically use the ones offered by windows, like error-cheking for hd and memory diagnostic in administrative tools for ram. You can google other softwares too.

That's probably the same DVD utility that Dell ships with the notebook.

Yeah i got the dell diagnostics tool now, had to make a bootable disk like John said. This is a much heavier test than the standard one and it's indeed the same as shipped with the system but a newer version. I'll run that tonight and if it comes back clean i'll call Dell to get it sorted i guess.

    thanx!

edit: Test turned out finer, no issues at all.

You think using CCleaner instead of Driver Sweeper will make a difference? Every time i installed different drivers i did it exactly this way but with Driver Sweeper.
What would be the change by setting it to Balanced?

Not that i don't want to try, just curious what it does.

I like CCleaner. That is about it. Worked for me as well (also with other problems, such as setups acting like it' software is installed while it's not, and so on.)

Balance, because I want to rule out overheating (if you say now that my laptop stays for 10min.. I know it might be due to heat related issue instead), and having the laptop go into sleep in 5min (WIn7 default if I recall correctly).

I like Nvidia own website drivers as they work very well for me. While not perfect at 100%, miles better than Laptop2go drivers, and provide more performance in games than Dell's own, now old, drivers.

So far none of the available drivers, either from nvidia or Dell, have solved the issue. Temps don't go up very high, i'm usually monitoring with HWmonitor.
Right now i'm d/loading some stress test apps, furmark and some others, to see if i encounter anything that way.

    Will report back ;)

All the stress test came back fine. I called Dell and told them i ran diagnostics and everything....they asked me to reinstall windows :(
Oh well, it's not my main laptop and doesn't have too much software on it so i might as well try. curious to see what they'll suggest if the issue remains. Maybe a mobo replacement or something?

btw...as always the tech rep was very friendly and helpful, Dell customer service in The Netherlands seems to be pretty good :D

I would make a clean install this time so.
