E6400 Freeeeeze :(

    Yea, clean install was my next advise, as well.
    When you install Windows 7 64-bit, make sure you install the essential first, ie: latest drivers and latest Dell Control Point (one got out recently). Avoid any software of any kind, not even ISO disk reader or even Firefox. From there, see if your problem is solved. If you have a finger print reader, do not install it's drivers, same for the built-in fancy card reader (not the SD card reader). In other words, don't install Dell Security driver thingy.

    If the problem occurs, please give us step by step instruction with result after each steps so that we can try and reproduce the problem. If we dont' have the problem, than it might some circuit on the motherboard that is faulty, or some switch (screen hinge switch for instance).

    I had similar symptoms on a D830... after 4 or 5 days, it failed completely and the mainboard had to be replaced. The good news is, everything else survived :)
